Upon introduction, the G500 is equipped with a standard 5.0-liter, V8, 292-horsepower engine that achieves 13-mpg in the city and 14-mpg on the highway. The G55 AMG is equipped with a standard 5.5-liter, V8, 349-horsepower engine that achieves 14-mpg in the city and 15-mpg on the highway. A 5-speed automatic transmission with overdrive is standard on both trims.
