I have test drove the 2004 Audi A4. I immediately fell in love with it, but my wife is more on the practical side, pointing out the lack of room at the back. I guess she had her parents in mind all the time.

I have done things in this car that will make your head spin. Switch the 10 to the 405 S. at 100+. Driven straight to Big Bear no Chains. Scorched an 04 745 on the outside of lane of a corkscrew onramp to the 101. (he killed me on the straight though),
with Quattro Ive tried to spin this car in the rain and I cant. but, for that ability at speed, you pay.. the tires do not balance on all surfaces. But If you drive on the Freeway in SoCAL you wont notice, the surfaces dont balance either. Solution ROTATE OFTEN! The Engine coils were all bad on 02'. but they are replaced. The dealer always says that there is some kind of oil leak and expensive out of warranty service. Advice, you dont have to do all the dealer says, I never do. I have 65K miles on mine, drive it everyday the only thing I want is more power. I guarantee I drive harder than most all of you.. This car is sensitive, but it can take it. If you have one and dont like it, drive harder... you'll get it.....read morehide

The design is still attracting me even though I bought the car 10 months ago. I enjoy looking at her as it is very gentle, well shaped & smooth. I have the 1.8T Multitronic dolphin grey color. The only setback is the rear seat is very tight. Another issue I face is I got a jerk (RPM ramps up and down almost within half a second) - thus it got a 'pulling' feels as I approaching stop. The rest is just perfect!...read morehide

be ready for a lot of shop time.. and now they have an un-advertised extended warranty for the engine because of oil-sludge problems on the 1.8 engine.. this is one major problem just waiting to happen.. the Audi maintenance people are rude.. and they will make false accusations against you when you bring the car in, especially in Oklahoma City.. this car makes whining sounds at certain speeds that the dealer says is normal.. for an expensive car, this is not acceptable.. I would steer clear of this and all german cars... the service and quality has gone straight down the crapper.. but.. it's your money.. good luck if you buy german and especially if you buy Audi.. you'll need it.. !!...read morehide

Plese do not buy this car or lease. I thought it would be a great car but had nothing but problems from day one. The suspension is horrible. The electrical is very bad from 2 coils,1 washer pump, lot's of radio problems with "bose premium sound" interior very cheap and the leather is hard. I had to replace all 4 tires every 15,000 miles and that is with wheel service every 5,000 miles and even then the wheels shook like crazy my moms 90 ford taurus was much smoother. It all boils down that the honda, acura, lexus are much better cars than the bmw, audi, and mersades I have owned in the past. Don't throw your money away on european car's from my friend a BMW mechanic....read morehide

I'm not sure about many of the reviews on this board, but will add my 10c worth anyways.
I bought a 2002 A4 3.0 quattro ex "demonstrator" from a dealer in Montreal in November of 2003...less than 12 months old, and approx 9,000 miles. This was my first "decent" car and I was really looking forward to the car, but have since regretted it. Long story short...read morehide

The Audi A4 Quattro 1.8T is a great car both inside and out. The exterior is very sporty looking (go with the tire/wheel upgrade option) and everything blends well together. Under the hood the 1.8T has plenty of power when matched with the 5-speed transmission. Inside is where this car really shines. It is one of the best looking interiors I have ever seen. The leather is beautiful and the seats are very comfortable. The gauges are well laid out and are very easy to read and use. My only complaint, and it is a minor one, is with the cup holders. The Bose sound system is awesome! There is plenty of space in the trunk and if you live in a cold weather area, get the heated seat option. The dual climate control works well and the On Star system is a plus. The vehicle drives and handles great and it has very good stopping power. If you are looking at vehicles in the near luxury market then this vehicle should get very strong consideration against the BMW 325i and the Saab 93....read morehide

nice touch of interior, solid built chasis. One complain is about the interior space gets a bit tight.

First, we have had nothing but engine problems as listed by so many here. After repeated attempts to have the dealer fix the issue, it turns out it was 2 coils gone bad.
Now, at 60,000 (had car for 3 years) the cam tensioner has gone bad and they quoted us $1500 to fix. We supposedly have a lifetime powertrain warranty if we take the car to the dealership for maintenance all the time (which we did since you get 4/50,000 maint). There was also oil sludge in the engine. Imagine that. The dealership does your oil changes and you get sludge? What's up with that?
I don't know how many times we had to take the car to the dealership... we special ordered the car from the factory and no, it was not made during Oktoberfest....we received it in August....
My husband wanted this car and since he drives it....he can have it.... I personally will buy a BMW next time......read morehide
