Spends a great deal of your trip in second gear. It hates hills! The 3400 enegine juist doesn't have the pulling power unless it is runnibg full bore in lower gears. It could probably pull hills in higher gear but the auto trans kivks it down and you are taching at 4,000 rpm doing 65 mph uphill. Don't see this model towing a boat either. Would burn up the trans and engine! If you are a flatlander or don't mind pulling hills at 45 mph then this is fine. I would suggest the 3.6 litre if you travel a lot. Otherwise this vehicle is a true love!...read morehide

I just financed a 2004 Buick Rendevous CX Plus. I have been happy with it so far. Like the features of AWD, On-Star, keyless entry. It has lots of space since have the 3 row seating (6 people) in it. All my coworkers and family think it's a great vehicle too. The safety features ABS and driver/passenger front/side airbags are great too. I had a 1999 Dodge Stratus prior to financing this SUV/crossover vehicle and would not go back to a car again....read morehide

The Rendezvous is an excellent all around vehicle providing the flexibilty a busy family requires. The Rendezvous runs as a five seater daily, unlike standard vans with quad seating, yet converts to a seven seater in a minute and back again in less than that. When running as a seven seater, the trunk space is reduced to 20% of its orginal size - enough for groceries, but not an average child stroller. Smooth as silk, the Rendezvous is a "Cruisers-cruiser". My second vehicle is a 97 Maxima that I bought brand new. The Rendezvous lacks nothing the Maxima offered then, other than raw acceleration. But I did not buy the Rendezvous to win a race. The 3.4L (180HP) engine is more than sufficient unless your entering a Cross-Country race - get the 240HP engine in that case. The Rendezvous is a vehicle of versatility. The On-star is a great feature for vacations which we'll use. No need to update that In-Car GPS Navigation system. On-star is always up to date. And the agents are always friendly. As an every day thing - to pricey. But On-star allows you to subscribe on a monthly or yearly basis. The CXL is the best deal per option. The CX and CX Plus is a little short on features and the CXL Plus has a few features which one would rarely use. I only gave this car a 4 star because I believe no car can get a perfect rating... not even the Maxima!!...read morehide

I like the vehicle very much but....
I have had failure of both front wheel bearings. It is a 2002 cx with 76000 miles on it. The bearings are bad again and the dealer does not want to replace them under extended warranty because he may not get paid since they are not loose. They sound like I have snow tread tires on the wheels. When I had trouble before, they changed the wheel bearings and the loud humming was gone.
I would like to keep the Rendezvous but can't afford the 4 to 5 hundred dollars to replace them out of warranty. I would like to hear from any others who have had problems like mine....read morehide

2004 Buick Rendevous Ultra.Owned car 2 months&drove it less than 2500mi.before it died on the highway and had to be towed the 1st time.Has since been towed 2 more times within a month.Service said car was fixed, only to get it home and have it die a few days later.Didn't get rental car when promised.car still is not fixed and dealer says "nothing we can do, take it back or pay us $10,000.00 more to get a different car. They have never fixed the original problem and its been in the shop for over 1 month out of the 1st 3 months owned. It obviously has a major manufacturing defect, which they will not address.Brand new car and its very unreliable already!I have no faith that they can ever fix it!Would never buy another car from this dealership!Very poor service, not in a timely fashion, they just gave us the run-around when they didn't know how to fix it.EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED WITH DALLAS CHEVROLET AND GM!...read morehide

Just bought mine today after long and extensive test drive of all SUVs and minivans. This one has the most usable 3rd row and largest cargo space in all mid size SUVs, yet it's not that big from outside. It drives smooth and quiet. The navigation system and neutral leather looks so nice. Better yet, the gas milage is among the best. I have multiple luxury cars, but my kids love this one most....read morehide

I'm 6' 5" and 250lbs. and this car fits me easily. Smooth ride, better than my Caddy. Roomy, plenty of cargo space. OK in the h.p. catogory. MPG isn't bad. I wouldn't recommend this car because I don't want to many people to know about this best-kept secret Buick has. Keep up the good work Buick!

My wife and I stumbled across the Rendezvous while looking for a typical SUV. This car is awesome. The room is great and the rear seats can be completely removed from the vehicle. I thought the acceleration was great and 26 mpg is better than most SUV's this size.

I'm considering buying one if I get an SUV.
We drove this thing the 40 miles from Jacksonville to St. Augustine at 75 mph, and it rode great - you never would have guessed we were going that fast. I also drove it around St. Augustine - lots of little 4-5 mile rides and over the bridges to the islands. I had no problem with acceleration up the big bridge we had to drive to get to our house every day, several times a day.
With all the in-town driving mixed with highway, it got about 20 mpg. Not bad for an SUV.
I liked driving it, it had a good ride, decent gas mileage, nice interior, great sound and I know Buick is the only American made car that gets good reviews from Consumer Reports. I don't think it's any uglier than the Honda Element (can you say plastic box), the Toyota Scion thing and the Mercedes box-like SUV....read morehide
