We bought ours in 2002 in the XLT 4x4 package. We live in hilly snowy wintery terrain and the truck is simply amazing. Even in ice, we never have trouble. Its very quick, loaded with goodies and the sound system with the 6-cd changer is great. Our mileage is about 21 which is great since I drive 60 miles daily to work. We did have a tire blow out which the dealer replaced, however, no other mechanical problems have surfaced. As of now the total mileage on the truck is 65,000. Our two kids love to fold the seats down and go to the drive-in movies....read morehide

Have an Escape in Moscow, Russia. It is great in city traffic and tight parking lots, but big enough to let us haul decent size cargo loads.
The vehicle does great in winter weather. Ours sits outside in -30C weather in the winter and cranks right up every time. The auto 4x4 is fantastic, and we test it constantly with six months of winter weather. We bought the XL version, but wish we had gone for the Limited to have a bit more comfort....read morehide

We got the limited after a nasty lease on a lemon VW Passat. Needless to say its a different world in a Ford. My wife has put 45000 miles on her truck in 15 months and the truck is awesome. The limited is not as common on the roads as the rest of the Escape Linup which to me is a nice thing..... i guess they are actually limited for a change.
Anyways, I suggest a K/N Air Filter, our mileage went up a bit and it gets better pickup.
We love the truck and are very happy we bought it!...read morehide

Pushing 3500 miles on my 2004 Escape, and no complaints so far. Small SUV, good relative gas mileage, the XLT has a great package. Escape Hybrid later this year should be nice, depending on the asking price.

I sure hope the Escape Hybrid version arrives on time. I am looking forward to getting my first hybrid vehicle. This could be the beginning of a new era in automobiles.
