Our Expedition is the best car/truck we have ever owned. I am 66 years old and have owned over 40 vehicles including Mercedes,BMW, Audi,VW, Chevy, Infinity, Mazda,Nissan and Honda. This truck has gone 93000 miles and pulled a trailer for over 25000 miles including the Alaskan Hwy. We have had no problems with it whatsoever. Always used Syn oil(Mobil One 0-w20 Extended interval and MobilOne Filter. On the Hwy we get 18 mpg and around town 15.5 on regular fuel. Pulling the trailer I get 10mpg. I especially like the fold flat seats and capicity behind either first or second row. You do not have to remove and store heavy seats . The ride on the interstate is very good and the truck holds a straight line with no effort. I will certainly buy another depending on what happens to fuel prices. I reallly like this Ford!...read morehide

I have been driving Ford products for the last 8 years. I have driven about 6 Ford cars & Trucks. The Expedition is the worst of all. This the worst 40K I have ever spent in my life on a SUV. Too much body noise, the AC makes a big noise when it 1st engages every morning.
The most pathetic of all the notions are that mostly they are manufactured faults and FORD dose not want to do any thing about it.
I have sent the e-mails & made phone calls from Top to bottom but all in vain. I have even sent e-mails to Ford Board of Directors but no body wants to listen to me.
I have decided to get ridoff my Expedition ASAP and never to buy any other Ford product....read morehide

We are really enjoying our vehicle. We bought it at the end of July, 2004. The only thing we have recently noticed, and we have been told by the Ford mechanics it is normal, is the spot where the exhaust pipe attaches to the muffler under the vehicle, it is leaking quite a bit of condensation to the point of a puddle forming beneath the truck when the vehicle is parked on a flat surface. They told us it is condensation and it is normal. So basically we have decided that if for some reason it rusts the exhaust mechanism because of this, the dealership can replace it, since we brought it to their attention and they said it was "normal". Other than that we love the vehicle. Service has been great at the dealership we bought it from. Always willing to help. We are Ford people, just recently sold our 97' Ford Ranger, that was still running as good as when we bought it brand new. So thought we would stick with a brand we were happy with and knew we could rely on....read morehide

Just bought an eddie bauer 4x2 4.6L for $28,000!!! (and they are putting in dual screen dvd system with wireless headphones and remote). they also paid off my 2000 isuzu trooper (83,000 miles) $5,600 left on note, which incidentally is in the shop with a BLOWN MOTOR! Ford dealers are desperately trying to get rid of these cars, use the money that you save to buy the extended warranty and service warranty if you need peace of mind. Car feels and drives great, kids will love it! Started out looking for an Explorer. Expedition was cheaper! Unreal! I think I'll have another kid!...read morehide

I have test driven almost all of the full sized SUVs that this world has to offer, the ones that stand out are the Expedition and the Yukon/Tahoe. For the money, the Expedition seemed to be a better value. Maybe it's the fact that my brother-in-law sells new Fords that helped to tip those scales a bit, though.
Overall, I am fairly satisfied with my decision. I think it is a very nice and smooth ride. It is very comfortable and it seems to handle the ice & snow of our MN winters like a champ.
I really love it in heavy traffic! There is nothing better than being able to see over and around the car in front of you.
My only complaints are that my gas mileage in the city is at about 14.2 mpg... hwy I am getting about 14.6 mpg. I would be extremely pleased if I were getting 19! Maybe I am a lead foot - I will give you that. But I am of the opinion that I would need to be rolling down a hill with a wind at my back to get to hwy speeds and not burn the hell out of my gas. But hey - it's an SUV.
Also, the front wheels are always black with brake dust. In fact, it I have noticed that this is very common on newer Expeditions and Navigators that I see out on the road. Did Ford use crappy brake pads or what?
Over all though, I would recommend that people take a long look at this vehicle - if they are in the market for a full sized SUV. As long as expectations are realistic, I think you too could be satisfied buying an Expedition....read morehide

We've now owned a 2003 and a 2004 Expedition XLT 4X4. I am very pleased with this vehicle in all respects except one. Here goes. The price is much better than any other competitor comparing apples to apples. It tows my 20 foot ski boat competently. It is very comfortable, even in "the way back" for 8 people of any size. It is very nimble, easy to maneuver/park. It has excellent all around visibilty. The interior is very pleasing to the eye and very functional. The outside is a little less stylish than most but looks okay. I had a roof top carrier on mine with my wife, 3 boys, and two parents on a 600 mile cross country trip in bad weather. The machine performed admirably and got about 19-20 MPG which completely shocked me. I would and will buy another one. Ford could compete with Toyota and Honda easily with products like this one if they could fix their ridiculously inconsistent service and sales network from dealer to dealer. Here is my example. I shopped for my new Exped online from about 4 dealers within a 40 mile radius. Ford has an excellent website for this type of transaction. I bought mine from a dealer in a town about 30 miles away who bent over backward to accomodate me and my trade in. I was very pleased with the salesman's ethics level (it didn't hurt that the dealership is family owned and he's the grandson). The local dealer is bigger and undesireable to deal with unless you want to pay a lot more and be treated like meat when you go in there. After about 4 months, the leather on the drivers seat began to crack. I took the vehicle in to the local dealer for warranty coverage. The service manager came over, looked at the seat, held up a pictorial chart to my seat, then walked off to go back outside to smoke, leaving the service rep to tell me it wasn't covered. This re-confirmed my suspicions about buying anything from this dealer. I called the dealership where I purchased the beast and was told they would take care of the seat unconditionally. Ford needs to deal with their dealers and bring uniformity to their product line service. Honda and Toyota dealers don't treat you like this over service issues from my experience. I'm a Ford-buy American-fan and hope they do better soon. They have awesome products....read morehide

I bought the Truck in July'04, (live in MD), took it to FL with my family (Wife and 4 kids) and it's the BEST SUV I ever owned. I have the DVD entertainment system and it kept the Kids entertained on the entire trip. I test drove the Nissan Armada and Chevy Tahoe and neither vehicle compare to the Expdition in ride comfort or price. It's now December and I just came back from NC and ran into the 1st snow storm of the season. I must say, high visibility of the Truck and A4WD feature was great and comforting. I have the Eddie Bauer with all options, and I would recommed anyone buying an SUV to get the EB Expedition. I have driven it for six months and haven't found any problems. FORD Got this ONE RIGHT!!!!!...read morehide

I bought my 04 expedition in Dec 2003. Have nothing to say bad about it with the exception of the gas tank. Takes too much money to fill it these days. It has under 10k miles on it and not once have I had a problem with it. But now that I am bragging about it, who knows what will happen.
Got a smoking deal on it, payments are good, runs great. Kids love it. I am happy!...read morehide
