in the "near-luxury" class, the Amanti falls short, though not by much. Not bad considering Kia doesent even intend for it to compete in that class. I have owned my New Amanti since late october, have traveled less then 3k miles and am still just as happy as i could be. Despite the cons listed above, I have yet to be disappointed. This might be b/c I understand that it is a well dressed and loaded big midsize (or small full size) family sedan, not a lexus. The interior materials and layout are outstanding, though the leather doesent seem as high quality as the rest. The ride around town is almost on par w/ my previous car ('99 lincoln towncar) and less so on the highway, though far better then my neighbors 03 avalon. Handling is same as my old towncar ( a minus considering the towncars size and old fashon suspension). The amanti is considerable faster then the towncar, though no more then my neighbors Avalon. I cant wait to see what kinda ratings the insurance institute for hwy safety gives this car considering all the airbags. Dual front auto climate controls as well as rear settings work well. Heated seats are a must. I know that Kia wanted to keep the price as low as possible, but I wish the Amanti's engine was more modern, like the transmission (silky smooth). Another minus is the fuel economy, about the same as the heavier, V-8 town car i had before. As far as reliability we will see. Consumer Reports puts Kia/hyundia models about par between GM and Ford. Thats better then most Euro brands though still no threat to the Japanese. Still, w/ a 5yr/60k bumper-to-bumper and 10yr/100k powertrain warrenty, who cares if its not as reliable! Oh yeah, i truely love owning a car that i dont see someone else driving at every intersection. Which brings up another thing, Kia is known for BAD resale values. Now i bought this car under the idea i was gonna keep it for as long as the warrenty lasted, if not longer. If was planning to sell it in a few years before it was paid off, i wouldnt have looked twice at it, despite all the pro's, it would be too much of a loss b/w what i owe and its value....read morehide

For the idiots claiming the Chevy Malibu competes, they are dreaming. I had to drive a Chevy Malibu for 3 weeks after someone hit my Hyundai Sonata, the Malibu cannot compete with the Sonata or Kia Optima---quit dreaming. As far someon to say it has no ride, they must like the sports car ride. This car babies you as you go down the rode. We have owned ours for 11 months now and still enjoy driving it as much today as we did when we drove it off the lot....read morehide

I traded my 2002 Kia Sportage for a Kia Amanti. I loved this car the first time I laid eyes on it. It's surprising the dealerships only carry a few in my area. The Amanti is definitly for a person who wants style and class at an affordable price. Forget the zoom, zoom, racing feature. I love the smooth ride it gives. I love the sound proof feature as well. I feel like I am melting in the soft, comfortable leather seats. I love all the buttons. I hope to get a future Amanti with a navigational system. The Infinity sound system is awesome....read morehide

My wife traded her 940 volvo for the Kia about 7 months ago for the Amanti. We have been using it for trips and around town. People will roll down thier window and tell us what a great looking car it is. We have come out of stores and found people looking at it and tell us it is a beautiful automobile. We have had no problems, and saw the dealer only for the checkup and oil change. It looks a lot like my old 300E Benz. But it doesn't go like my 300SL roadster, but it rides a lot better.
We looked and drove a lot of cars before going with the KIA Amanti.
A lot of car for the price.
Take our word for it, because we own one....read morehide

The reviewers who said this car is copying style, has poor mpg and is like their grandfathers car obviously dont own one. I bought mine in September after my Audi died on me. (I've owned Audi for the past 14 years) I rented an Amani from the rental car company and within 5 minutes was absolutely sold and needed one of my own!
This car rides like a big car should. I didn't buy it to be a sports car - who cares about it going super fast and cornering like it's on rails - IT'S NOT SUPPOSED TO! It's a luxury sedan not a Honda Civic... duh!
The car comes with a TON of standard items Mercedes and the others have to add on - which then adds on to the already out of range price for most people. I have a neighbor with a new Mercedes 500 - and when he poked his head inside to take a look at my new car - his jaw dropped - said it was just as nice and he's sure I paid about 1/3 of what he did! And Mercedes only comes with a rather boring monotone interior these days and their customer service rating is the lowest in YEARS!
Also, as far as mileage goes, I get between 21-28 mpg depending on where I drive and how I drive. If you constantly hit the pedal to the metal - yea, your gas mileage is gonna suck... Drive like a normal person and you'll get better mileage!
If you are thinking about buying an Amanti - take one for a test spin. You wont be disappointed!

I had driven that car a few weeks ago..
It was very calm and comfortable..I think it was much better than other cars like honda accord or toyota camry...I was impressed. I cannot believe that it's Kia.
But when it comes to design, it was like a daddy's design...
Others are very great...and it's cheap.....read morehide

Here in Milano, best selling SUV is Sorento. But i'm more impressed with this sedan by Kia. Kia is not only catching up with the rest of competitor, actually they are the one of the best selling cars in Europe. And what's wrong with the brand name? It's more like european name. somewhat better than name of yota and Daihatsui. We can not see the difference? anyway, Amanti is the best choice for me for now....read morehide

The Amanti is one of the best rides I have taken in an automobile. It holds the road well at highway speeds and the engine is quiet as a mouse in church. The pick up is great the body size and engine are a perfect match. Love the safety features. When I sit in it I really feel like I am surronded by luxury. My last car was a Benz and this feels better and rides better.I can't count the compliments I have recieved from other drivers and was amazed at the finger pointing by drivers of Lincolns, Jags, and Benzs. Wow all the perks and half the money can't beat that....read morehide
