I should start my review by saying that I have only ever owned Nissans, though I have driven many other makes/ models of cars. Maybe I am a little biased, but in my experience Nissan cars are great value for the price. The Sentra is a great example - many other cars in this class retail at much higher prices, but don't offer any discernable benefits over the Sentra.
This car is a great buy and will have a long dependable life if maintained regularly. The option packages allow you to indulge yourself on a few items without sending the price through the roof. My Sentra has the "Road Trip Package" with cruise control and better-quality stereo, both upgrades that were well-worth it to me. I have had the car three years and have had no mechanical trouble since I service it regularly.
The only drawback to the Sentra is that it is a little short on leg room in the back seat. There is comfortable space in the front seat and the trunk space is great, but the back seat is a little cramped.
As I said I am probably biased, but I love my Sentra. It was just the right buy and just the amount of car I need right now. If I start a family I will probably upgrade to the Altima, another great car from Nissan....read morehide

I test drove this car and that was all it took for me not to consider it. This car is really for those only wanting to get from point A to B. A really poor value and stricly for those who think these cheap imports produce a better more realiable car. A lot of 'nonsence' packaged in a joke of a car....read morehide

Be carefully that when you try to get the car repair or service, they might keep your car in the back parking lot for few hours and did not even check or repair it, they always print out a report "NO PROBLEM FOUND"

I bought a 2000 Sentra brand new in 2000, so far I had to bring it at least 9 times to the dealership for different repairs/recalls over the past 4 years. When I called Nissan Customer Service line , they did nothing for me. It's more like 's....' the customer line. Beware buyers, if you get a lemon from them, there is no recourse, especially if the car is paid off, they would have nothing to do with you....read morehide

I traded my 1996 Ford Explorer in for the 2004 Sentra 1.8S. The Sentra gets great gas mileage compared to my Explorer. And hopefully I'll be spending less time at the mechanic's. The only thing I do miss is the storage space I had in the Explorer (larger center console, pockets in the back of the front bucket seats, larger glove box). But this car is great.
If I could have afforded it, I would have gone for the 2.5 engine. But I'm strapped for cash so I had to settle for the 1.8S. But the amount of money I'm saving in gas makes up for it.
Pros:
Gas mileage
Not too low to the ground
Great sound system
Price
Cons:
darn front cupholders...if they could have just put them just a little further back on the console. You cant get to the A/C controls with a cup there and anything taller than a can of coke is going to spill. Have to use rear cupholders for tall cups.
the trunk release...mine has a lever inside the trunk, if it is down then I cant use my remote or the button inside the car to open the trunk. I have to use my key. the lever is exposed. so anything rolling around in the back of the trunk can hit it and push it down. I'm going to put something over it so that it wont get broken. I've already had to take it back to the dealer to get the lever fixed once already....read morehide

After putting almost 300,000 miles on my 94 Sentra. I decided to go with a new one. As I drive 140 miles round trip to work. I like an economical car. My 94 Sentra never let me down. Most people don't know what it is like to have a car that has never broken down in almost 300,000 miles. It always started and always ran even when it was overdue for service. This 2004 model is a spunky performer. It has a smooth ride. Runs quite. Handles well. But I still have my 94. I still like to drive it accsionally. But it doesn't compare to the comfort and quite of the new 2004 Sentra. Oh, like my 94, the new Sentra's radio, tape, CD player sounds great. I'm enjoying the ride!!!...read morehide

I commute to work and drive 70 miles a day.I traded in my 99 Ford truck which got 10-15 mpg and got into a 2004 sentra 1.8S. There are lots of standard features in the vehicle like A/C, power everything, dual airbags. I sprung the little extra for the roadtrip package which includes cruise control and a leather wrapped steering wheel. The car is comfortable, fun to drive, and has more passenger room than my truck did. My only complaint is that its a little slow on accelleration, but after it kicks up the car moves quick. I wish I had gotten the larger 2.5 engine but the fuel economy more than makes up for it. I am happy that I bought this car- I think I have gotten a good deal for the price I paid and I am saving about $30-$40 a week in gas! Hooray!...read morehide

I bought the 2004 Sentra 1.8S and it is my first car (actually, I was the first person in Lake County to buy one). I've loved it since. The seats are comfortable without being too soft, and the car handles smoothly. (I've tried other cars, like Saturn, Chevy, Cadillac and so on - but I like the Nissan the most).
Pros:
Firm acceleration and braking
Nice handling
Nice stereo and amenties (maps lights, sunglass case)
Nice look and style
Powerful engine and large size for a small sedan - I can usually out-perform most other cars, even those trying to get past me.
Cons:
Air conditioning is a little weak
gas mileage is overrated - you'll get between 22 - 27 to a gallon, not 35 (22 with air)...read morehide

I just purchased my 2004 Sentra a few weeks ago and I love it!! It is great on gas, it drives smoothly and it is very comfortable. It is a great car for just about anyone!

I bought this car about a month ago. It's terrific. Awesome power for a small car. Only bad thing would be the cup holder location. A bottle of pop is about the biggest thing you can fit in them.
Best thing, it's 100% paid for.
