Let*s see.. I ve bought new 2004 Subaru Impreza Wrx STI 2.5 for about 60000$$.. It is 50000 euros here in europe. It has stage 3 turbo kit, about 370 hp, 4.2 0-60mph, 15 0-120mph. I ve raced Audi S8, BMW M3, Porsche GT3, EVO 8, 350 Z, Ferrari 350, and guess what.. Not one of them could get close to me, except Porsche GT3.. It was a though race..... It is ultra high performance car.. one word.. PERFECTION...read morehide

I just love my STI . nothing is quite like it . too bad the dealers wont let you test drive them, because if you drive one you will want it ...period. Its smooth like a jet , but just as angry as my 1973 340 Cuda when I step on it. but I just dont get the wheel spin ...sometimes thats fun though isnt it!! ...lol... It is a totally different car then the regular WRX, I owned a 2002 WRX and the STI is in every way a much different car. so dont let anyone tell you different. And its worth every penny. The only thing I dont like is the tires because I am sure they will only last about 20,000 miles tops...but thats the sacrifice for performance and unlike the WRX the backseat does not go down to fit skis. why that option is not there I will never know..If subaru could top an STI It would be insane..My wife and I are waiting to see if they bring the Legacy STI to the states so we can get one of them too and can the Civic. A Subaru will always be in my family....read morehide

fun to drive, a lot of bang for your buck. A whole lot of parts to make it even faster.

Had this baby for almost a year now, it's my weekend car.
Initially was looking at the 350Z/G35 C 6 MT, but after test driving this car, I was blown away.
This car out accelerates anything else I have ever been in or driven with the exception of a 98 Dodge Viper ACR. It feels like a 747 taking off or the roller coaster at the theme park. This car does 150 MPH so quickly, it is just scarey. I should record my passenger's reactions to it!
You are pretty much sitting on a rocket. Excellent throttle response, turbocharger responds right away, this thing already flies at roughly 3000 RPM's.
Handeling, you got Fulltime AWD. You just laugh at everyone at stop lights, just laugh away. This car just grips and GOES! No wheel hop, no wheel spin, rain or shine. Watch everyone spin out and lose it as you leave them in the dust.
Brakes, Brembo 4 piston calipers in the front with massive rotors and SS ABS. Stops on the dime.
The clutch is excellent (unlike the Evo's...**cough cough**) a bit stiff, but that's a clutch that supports an under-rated 300 lbs-ft of torque, not some wimpy Honda clutch.
The 6 speed unit is awesome. Short shifts, built with triple and double synchros, oil cooler.
Interior is pretty decent, seats are comfy, had to put a stereo in it, but that was for 2004, they do come with stereos now. Sweet gauges, built in shift buzzer and gauge startup sequence.
I installed a custom net for the TMIC (Top Mount Intercooler) against rocks and bugs.
Love the wing and scoop, looks different and mean.
Very reliable so far, Mobil 1 synthetic every 3500 miles, good dealer support.
People make fun of the spoiler all the time, but they got no clue what this car can do. I love blowing them away....read morehide

So last weekend (weekend before xmas) I test drove a gunmetal EVO MR and then an aspen white STi. The EVO was fun but felt like a $13k lancer inside.. very ugly, old style dash. The speed was increadable but only above 4000rpm. Below that, it also felt like the normal lancer economy car.
Then to the subie dealership.... they wouldn't let me test drive the one on the showroom floor, so I drove a used one with 4000 miles on it.
I was completely blown away! It is so fast, and the whine of the turbo gets ya every time! But compared to the EVO, the inside was actualy quite nice! Very classy and the car is WAY more driveable at lower RPM's.
This cost $4000 less than the EVO MR. So I went home to have a hard think and came back the next day to drive that pretty white STI off the showroom floor! I've had it for 4 days ~ 230 miles on it now.
To the person who said his '02 Z28 can beat this, you're kidding yourself! I came from a '02 SS six speed and it doesn't touch the STi! It's almost a full second slower to 60!
-And to the 16 year old with a mid-80's CRX who smoked his friends STi...... common kid. Don't embarass yourself like that ;)
I don't care if the EVO can handle 500 WHP and whooop the STi at those settings... The STi is plenty fast for me and since I have 2 kids under 5 this is my perfect car!
Great job subbie!...read morehide

hmm guess u dont know anything about this car at all. first of all the sti in other country is 2.0L 276 hps. hello!! i am talkin about sti here not wrx. the 2.5 L is just for the US model since the americans like big engines and lots of horse power. i bet u dont even have either of the 2 cars. in a rally race its not all about the car. its about teh team and the driver. evolution out performed sti in the past few yr?? subaru just won last yr. please only talk if u know the stuff....read morehide

please find me a car that goes 0~60mph in 4.6seconds, and has 300hp 300lbft torque with $33,000.00
i recently got 2005 Sti $33000 plus tax. i think i got the best deal, nayway. it's super car, i've beat porches, cobra, and even ferrari350 on sunset at night.
it reaches 120mph so quickly...
at 5th gear you can reach that...
at 4th gear you can go like easy 80mph, if you push little up redlines, you can go higher just on 4th gear..
i've start ma sti on 4th gear, so far. hehehe.. messing up ma car..
i went to top speed of 150mph so far, i thought it was 145mph top, but not anymore i guess... it goes at least 150mph.
you'll easily beat M3, and even corvette. but not corvette Zo6. anyway.. this thing is spuer machine, and it'll rock your world....read morehide

Here we go again. Gentlemen, just because Subaru built the car we have all been waiting for does not mean that you have to get your panties in a bunch. Numbers do not lie. Acceleration is normally a matter of weight and horsepower (or torque for you purists) (yes I know the difference). The reason the evo and sti have similar numbers is because the power to weight ratio on both cars is similar. Regardless of the six speed tranny. The sti is not a drag racer, is is a rally car. Even if we were only concerned with 0-60, the sti is faster than any car in its price range. Technologically speeking it is very impressive. 2.5 liters equals approx. 153 cubic inches. At 300 bhp that is 2 horses per cube thats better then a 428 hemi. Very impressive. Lastly for all you guys who feel their manhood is put into question. I noticed that you all do one of three things...read morehide

I recently had the pleasure of a 24hr test drive of a 2004 Subaru WRX STi. The car was in fact used, with 22Kmi (somebody loved this car once) and still smelled new! Getting behind the wheel is a treat, with it's inviting interior that matches it's exquisite exterior (Spartan meaning a fairly plain dash, and no stereo, thankfully remedied in the '05) the previous owner chose the leather shift knob over the titanium "STi" knob (in my opinion, an excellent choice), and an aftermarket turbo timer. The car roared to life with the turn of the computer chipped key. It's obvious the STi breathes well through it's tuned exhaust (stock).
The short shifter moves into first with a little effort, but the clutch is still responsive, yet forgiving. It accelerates very smoothly, with some expected lag in the more than adequate turbo that throws you back in your seat due to the 300hp with 300ft lbs of torque. I dare you to attempt lighting up those gummy tires on a straight-away!
Slight understeer in the corners, but a quick blip of the throttle will break the wheels free. A sheer joy in traffic with it's easy clutch. It's a good daily driver. My only concern was heat...300hp only spread over 4cyl can be punishing. This is answered with the intercooler water jet that will spray like the windshield wiper jets over the massive intercooler with the push of a button. The front and rear torsion bars added remarkable stiffness to the chassis, allowing for uncommon speed in the turns. Unfortunately, Subaru cars hold their value well, and my wife wouldn't allow me to purchase it...so I compensate by telling you what it was like driving the toughest stock import on the street!...read morehide

I know the subaru company for their car its one of the best companys there was and I seen the company in olympia auto mall. The Impreza has been used in WRC(World Rally Championships) peter solberg used the subaru Impreza and he is a good driver in that impreza. Subaru is good for their foresters, Outbacks and impreza. But hopefully their next model look Awesome. They allowed subaru To be in RalliSport challenge 2. Try to drive the impreza in RalliSport challenge 2. I tried to drive the impreza in RalliSport Challenge 2 and I did well but I messed up a little bit....read morehide
