I'm 6'2", 200lbs and 30 years old. 99.9% on road driving with an occasional median crossing or gravel driveway. I bought a 2004 v6 sport model because it doesn't wallow as much as the sr5 due to the modified suspension. 21/20 mpg, good stereo, hvac is ok, the drive is smoother than I expected and it looks nice for an suv, except for the hood scoop. The seat is too skinny for me (I'm not fat), headroom may be an issue if you get the sunroof (i didn't get it but I wanted too), tire pressure sensors go off if you lose a little air (it's kind of scary sometimes), and the truckcan get pricy if your not careful. Dealers aren't very professional either. I really wasn't crazy about it at first but I enjoy it more every day. It's awsome around town, maybe a little cumbersome in the walmart parking lot, and it's fun to take on a road trip. You have to be careful with the exterior because it looks too fancy to scratch. if you use the roof rack for bikes or kayaks, the hardware you'll need is very minimal(same hardware as expolrers i think)....read morehide

Two months ago I bought a 2004 limited 4 runner - v8. Before driving it out of the show room it was in for service due to the tire pressure light coming on.
I am very unhappy with the gas mileage. 15 miles mpg highway is the most I get. Very disappointing when you consider that they tell you you can get up to 21mpg. Had it in for service and nothing could be found.
Great Suv poor performance on gas mileage. It stinks.

We test drove a number of vehicles, the big Envoy, Durango, Yukon, and we've owned a number of X-Plorers. The 4Runner is one of the best SUV's in which I've sat.
The vehicle is tight and heavy- you can really feel it stick to the road, especially going around corners. And though the vehicle feels like a tank, when you hit the gas the vehicle gets up to highway speeds very quickly! The brakes were a bit touchy, the anti-lock feature works very well. We live in snow country, so when winter hits the first thing I do is find an empty parking lot and get the feel for what my wheels will do in a skid. The 4Runner was great and didn't feel tippy even when I was in a side ways skid and the tires caught on dry pavement.
The instruments and controls are easy to figure out, and even though there are a lot of them, I didn't feel overwhelmed. The interior is nice and roomy, though I wish the passenger seat adjusted more than it does.
We just got rid of our first Toyota, a 1988 4x4 truck we bought brand new. It was 17 years old and like a old family friend. I'm hoping we have the same luck with a 4Runner....read morehide

Wow!! Just purchased my Titanium 2004 Limited 4WD V6 fully loaded including the Navigation system and JBL Soundsystem.. I am loving the ride.. The car runs smooth and it definitely is the best car I have owned so far.. Very pleased with the performance and the looks of the car.. It's an excellent car to own if you love the outdoors or even just driving it around town.. Don't have any regrets so far.. Haven't had the chance to rough the ride yet but weekend is just around the corner.. Would recommend this car to everyone.....read morehide

THE 2004 TOYOTA 4-RUNNER IS ONE OF THE BEST CARS TO DRIVE. THE TOYOTA CAR MODELS ARE SIMILAR TO LXUS AND HONDA. SOME OF THE TOYOTA, HONDA, AND LEXUS CAR MODELS COME IN V-6 WITH DIFFERENT HORSEPOWERS. THESE CARS THE BEST CARS FOR MANY DRIVERS. FOR THOSE OF YOU OUT THERE WHO REALLY ENJOY DRIVING LEXUS OR HONDA OR EVEN PERHAPS ACURA, I WOULD ALSO LIKE TO RECOMMEND TOYOTA TO BE PART OF THE ADDITION....read morehide

the ride is super smooth. some built quilities questions. overall, it's a nice SUV to have. the head room is kind of short, but beside that, the limited edition is just like a lexus.
