Purchased Sept 03 and still loving it after 16k miles! A perfect utility vehicle that gets 30mpg with flexible seating and plenty of storage for family or hauling stuff, from groceries to moving college kids with furniture. Nimble in traffic with a smooth ride and easy to turn and brake. A high quality stereo system finishes the interior that has plenty of cup holders front and back - the front passenger seat also folds to make a table for the rear passenger. The car also has two outlets for accessories, one on the dash and one in the center console storage compartment. I have not had any issues with finish or trim, typical and expected from the Toyota brand. I would purchase this car again, as a general purpose vehicle, for a family vehicle, and as an ideal vehicle for a college student or graduate. Over all a nice car. I think Pontiac must have designed the dash, it rattles a lot. everything else is Toyota Quality. However, $16,500 sticker and $18,000 after financing is a bit much for a base car of this size.

Engine is great. Fast and Smooth on high Speed. Only one concern, It TAKES LOT OF GASSSS. It saids 25 Miles/City but I don't think that's true. It's more like 20 per gallon.

im a student with a part time job (so u know im always low on cash)... i needed a new car.. so i shopped around for awhile and found a great deal on a 2005 matrix.. it only cost me $15,800 (thats out of door price) .. $233/m for 4yrs... the deal was only for the standard 2wd (w/ power window & door).. hey.. for a price like that.. what more could you want.....read morehide

I love my Matrix, I have had it for 2 years and it still runs like the day purchased. The car is compact yet very roomy inside.

2004 Matrix is a great car. Car is fun to drive and is very practical. It has tons of cargo space with seats folded down. Make sure you put gas cap on tight. Check engine light will come on. Beng 2 manufacturers worked on the design, Pontiac and Toyota, I believe you have a well engineered product. Why they partmershipped, I do not know.
Anyway for under 20K you get a roomy reliable gas efficient loaded with options such as ABS, moonroof, side airbags, upgraded stereo, alloy wheels, security system, 1.9% Toyota financing if needed, 33 mpg hwy, and much more, I can't see where you can go wrong. All those big SWUV drivers will be wishing they had these when gas prices go to $2.25+ soon. Toyota quality and roominess for under 20K ! Good deal !...read morehide

I've had the Matrix for 2 years I've never had a problem with it, the sporty look and the all red LCD OD. I have added the TRD super charger which it feels like you drive a 6 cyliner car!
