I think the Tacoma is over priced for the following reasons. 1. The service department was very bad. 2. Dealer would not work some items. 3. The Tacoma had body rattles just like any other truck. 4. The Tacoma is build with safety in mind and I guess that is why they think the cars and trucks are worth 2 ot 3 thousand dollars more....read morehide

when the truck hits a dip the front end bobs. when it hits a bump it sways side to side and when it hits a series of bumps it shutters. they replaced the torsion bars with coil springs. BIG MISTAKE!! The truck rides like it is going to roll over. I'll take my 93 sr5 4wd anytime.

I bought a new 2004 Tacoma 4x4 x-tra cab equipped with the 5 speed manual transmission. It has the inline 4 cylinder, 150 hp, engine. The list price with all equipment(16" wheels, cruise control, cd, cassett etc.) was slightly over $22,000, I paid $20,000. I have 2,000 miles on it so far and the only complaint is it's slightly sluggish. If I had it to do all over I would still purchase the exact same truck. I'm that satisfied....read morehide

Best truck I have ever owned. Tight smooth, well designed, fun to drive , 28mpg city 32 highway, lowest depreciation in the market, I have had to fight off all my relatives and friends who want to drive it.

I PURCHASED MY NEW 4X4 DOUBLE CAB TACOMA TWO WEEKS AGO. GOT 500 MILES ON IT AND IM SOLD ON TACOMA. IM 6'2 AND HAVE 2- 3 INCHES HEAD ROOM LEFT OVER. THE POWER IS GREAT FROM THE V6 AND ALL THE CONTROLS ARE SIMPLE AND EASY TO USE AND TO REACH. I GOT JUST OVER 300 MILES FROM A FULL TANK OF GAS AND THATS PRIMARILY STOP AND GO TRAFFIC. GREAT BUY FOR PERSON WHO NEEDS A RELIABLE, TOUGH AND COMFY TRUCK IN THE CITY OR HAULING HAY.....read morehide

Had mine for a year, now.
TRD package, v6, standard trans, 4wd.
Bought it because Toyota hadn't changed the build significantly in years, and it seems to have been a good decision so far.
Up to now, I've:
Navigated 2 feet of standing water
Plowed through 1.5 feet of powder snow
Bounced down 20 miles of rocky colorado plateau roads slip-free
Driven trouble-free for 30k in one year
No abnormal maintenance.
Paint seems pretty tender around door areas. Nerf bars help.
Passenger seat rettles when empty.
Bargain down to 18k, and buy one if you want a ten-year truck....read morehide

my father in law bought a Tacoma just the basic standard cab. Going on the name alone, what a disaster this truck has been...this truck has been in the shop to many times to tell. Everything has been falling apart and the engine is a gutless joke and has had several repairs......should of bought a Nissan Frontier would have had way better performance and more reliable truck.....read morehide
