I bought a new 2004 Tacoma 4x4 x-tra cab equipped with the 5 speed manual transmission. It has the inline 4 cylinder, 150 hp, engine. The list price with all equipment(16" wheels, cruise control, cd, cassett etc.) was slightly over $22,000, I paid $20,000. I have 2,000 miles on it so far and the only complaint is it's slightly sluggish. If I had it to do all over I would still purchase the exact same truck. I'm that satisfied....read morehide

I recently sold my 1994 Toyota (4 cyl)truck before purchasing my new 4dr V6 Tacoma. I had NO problems whatsoever with the old truck. The guy I sold it to drove it for 34 hours straight to Mexico....twice. The reliability of Toyotas are superb, which is why I chose to buy another.
My 2004 V6 Tacoma has the TRD, crome and conveniance packages. The price paid was $21,547. The truck runs well and looks great. No problems piggy backing my 150cc and sons 50cc motorcycles to the desert. The truck didn't strain at all going up hills. Instrument panel looks great, stereo is OK. Back seat is roomy for kids, but would be tough on an adult for trips over 45 minutes.
I do NOT recomend this truck if you are over 6'2". I'm 5"8" 170lbs, I fit into the truck just fine with room to spare. My brother is 6"2" 230 and says he feels cramped. And yes, he looked cramped.
The gas mileage listed on the sticker read 17/19. I think I've been getting more like 16/18.
Bottom line is that I got a good reliable truck that I can trust. If you are thinking about getting one, you should do yourself a favor and check it out and take it for a test drive....read morehide

My tacoma is outstanding. I have friends who have chevys and fords with constant problems. I haven't even repaced my front brake pads after 5 years. The truck is bullet proof. The small 4 cylinder engine is capable of going 300,000 miles with regular oil changes. It is quiet and solid and I get great gas mileage. My only problem is that I'm afraid someone will steal it....read morehide

I got a 2003 tacoma and I have zero complaints. It handles almost as good as my brothers cavalier and gets great mileage. I work for an auto shop class where we are putting an engine in an 89 four runner with almost 500 thousand miles on it and the owner plans to keep on drivin. It barely has a spot of rust on it and is still a solid vehicle. The tacoma engine is not identicle but close and comes from the same line. Great little truck....read morehide
