I am not the only one that has had problems with the six speed manual transmission, and the factory service hasn't helped. A lot of times it just won't shift into third or is hard to shift into third. I am really disapointed in the Honda/Acura response to this on going problem. I've been driving stick shift vehicles since the 1960's and this transmission is the worse I have ever driven. Also the car is really noisey on the highway. An extra 50 pounds of sound insulation would be a small trade off for some peace. It handles great and the stereo is wonderfully easy to use. This is my last Acura....read morehide

ride is rough , have had 5 loaners within 12,000 miles because of clicking in the springs .

Shortly after buying this vehicle , i noticed a clicking noise when you turned the wheel to the right , I have brought the car back 6 times , have replaced struts , still clicking , then they found out about a spring mounting problem , thought it was fixed , problem has reacurred . These are noises you normally hear in a car that is over 10 years old . I recently sold my other car , a 1991 accord that had less noises ....read morehide

Transmission is somewhat stiff; easy to stall out. Stock rims were ugly.

I love my RSX Type-S. Its performance and style eclipes my previous 2001 Integra. I get a lot of compliments about my car, especially with my rims, which are not standard. For the price I paid, this car is excellent. I recommend getting it in black; its more classy. My next car will be another RSX Type-S....read morehide

I love driving this car, it's fun to drive. The gas milage is great, trunk space is huge for such a small car The down fall grinding issues, 3rd gear pops out, and I've learned that I'm not the only one with this problem. It has 44k on it and I don't think I should be experiencing this kind of problem so soon. Especially, if you pay 20 plus grand....read morehide

I have now owned this car for 3 weeks and it has been a Joy. Almost everytime I drive it I can't help but smile. I can say with certainty it outhandles anything in its price range. It is so invigorating to drive that it is truely a joy to drive. The car is deceptively fast due to the highly strung engine. Its acceleration can only be described as elastic. It doesn't jerk your head back as a v6 car of the same power would. But its quicker than v6's of the same hp (6.2 seconds to 60). A downshift or two on the highway and your gone. My only real problem with the car is its boy racer (ricer) image. Alot of the time I will pull up to a stop light and every riced out car wants to race me. I enjoy driving my care fast but I don't like being associated with that crowd. But aside from that the car is a dream.
P.S. don't expect that your buying a luxury car just because its an Acura. This is a refined sporty car nothing more. It will give you the thrills of owning a sports car only more refined and easier to live with day to day....read morehide

Overall Performance of the viechle is impressive I4 210 Hp with easy upgrades to increase power. Suspension is sleek and low without having a rough or bouncy ride. Stock wheels help suspension with fast and sharp turns with very minimal oversteer. Stock body kit makes it simple and sporty with very concerns no changing the body style. The 2005 Acura TypeS is the car to have with maxiumun performance compareed to all others and great suspension with bigger sway bars and stock front upper strut bar and rear lower strut bar connected to the frame....read morehide

5-speed grind issue

This is at least my 5th Honda and have to admit I am losing some loyality to Honda with this one. It has a very annoying 2nd-3rd gear "grind" that the dealer and acura are proving no help at all. (I've driven 5sp for almost 20 years, and this is not normal) About 2000 people have signed a petition on the net about this, so I would recommend considering this with the whole package. Im in the process of submitting BBB, attorney general complaints to give some incentive to Acura to do something, kind of sad since Acura is the 'upscale' devision of Honda. Its a great car other than this I hate to slam Honda, I was working my way up to the NSX hopefully some day, but now starting to look at the Nissans, Infinities, BMW's. If Acura doesn't do something I know what brand I will not buy next....read morehide

Wheel sometimes jumps a little on rough pavement.

I bought an 05 RSX Type S. Everything on this car is perfect. I don't have any complaints. (except the dealer scratch it)

I would not recommend getting the interior trim kit, as it doesn't really change the appears of the interior at all. I would simple recommend the fog lights, wheel locks, and the alumium shift noobs is also slick, however, it seems to get very hot when the car is sitting in the sun, and touching it for about 10 minutes, requires some quick shifting to keep from burning your hand. Of course a glove, part of your shirt or something would help to elievate the burning fleshing feel.

Great car, I am never getting ride of it. It going to be 2025 and I will still be fixing it and driving thur the corners....read morehide
