I-drive is too slow and complex, takes too long for systems to boot up. The interior is a bit cold

This is my third BMW five series and this is the best, even if it lacks the handsome looks and character of its predecesor. I tested the E500 and the A6 4.2 before selecting the 545 and the BMW is the more complete, if less compromising car. Its a sports saloon and does not pretend to be anything else like the Audi & Merc. Car is fun to drive, but sport seat travel is much less than 540 predecessor. At 5' 6', I feel like I am sitting in a hole. In a slightly slouched relaxed condition, like highway cruising, the heads-up speedo drops out of my field of view

Intermittent computer problems occur with the ACC and satellite radio memory. Restarting the car (computer reboot) always solves the problem....read morehide

530i guttless wonder for the money, this is a drivers car?

Totally unimpressed with the performance of the 530i, for an I6 the torque delivered during rapid acceleration is underwhelming to say the least; and for a car that is built on being for the driver to feel the road - you are certainly feeling the road, but in all the wrong places. Undercarriage feels flimsy - like a ford Taurus, and the steering isn't solid at all. Back to acceleration; there is a seemingly infinite delay in the response time when your foot hits the acceleration. This is the perfect car for those who want the looks but don't want true performance. I would test drive the new A8L prior to buying the 530I; Another good value for the money is the Volvo S80 T6, also an I6, however, the twin turbo of this engine propels the heavier frame of the S80 into another Galaxy....read morehide

I absolutely love the ride. The 545i is the most comfortable vehicle to sit in that I have ever owned. It also has great acceleration and handling.

In the shop now for 4 weeks; 5th time since 1st of year. I-Drive a mess.

I hate it. I felt the time was right for the "ultimate" car; give me my Ford any day. Absolutely the worst car I've ever had in terms of reliability and comfort; when coupled with the enormous price-tag, a true lemon. In fact, considering pursuing the "lemon law".

The Sport Package is an option that I would say is a must on this car. The Aniti-Roll feature and the smooth 8 cylinder allow this car to stick to the road like "glue". I looked at the Lexus, Mercedes, Corvette and the Infiniti nothing to compair. The warranty program with BMW is second to none. The BMW 545i is the perfect cross between a sport car and a luxury sedan. I am very happy with this car and BMW....read morehide

Nothing! It does everything it was "designed" to do.

This is my first beemer so I'm not the least bit "un-biased." I've had the car for 3 months and sometimes can't wait to make for morning to make what used to be the dreaded commute. It is flat-out fun! Don't take my word for it. Stop by any BMW dealer and test drive one ... any one ... with any trim. You'll see why this brand of car has such a a faithful following. The car has enough ponies to get you in trouble, but that's not why you buy it. The drive "IS" an experience. I'll never buy anything other than a BMW. Hope this helps....read morehide
