Purchased As Used
I was in the market for a used luxury sport sedan. I tested BMWs, Infinitis, Audi and Acura. While the BMW 330 and the G35 were great cars they offered nothing the CTS didnt (for the most part) and would have cost me a couple thousand more at least. The Audi and Acura dont even belong in the same class as these ars. They are more rice than nice. The audi A4 had no power and was unomfortable compared with hte CTS. Again price of this car is great because of GM financial issues and the "american is bad" mentality.
The CTS 3.6 is the one to get as the 3700 pounds of luxury this car has really does well with the higher engine. The acceleration is very good and is very smooth. It handles very nicely and never makes you feel like you may overturrn or are on a roller coaster. The exhaust is a true dual exhaust unlike many japanese and euro cars that feature the Y-pipe exhaust system that splits one into two pipes toward the end.
As far as real world driving is concerned, the car rides incredible on the high way and is one of hte few cars that is somewhat fun to drive in a city. You actually will not mind just crawling along at times. The gas mpg is fine and highway you can average at or around 27 to 30 if you drive right. I average about 21 and i do mostly city and suburb driving. It also accelerates so nicely that say your on an entrance ramp to a highway while the "gas saver" in his/her corolla is full force on the pedal trying to get up to 55 mph you will be a quarter of the way down maybe half way down at the most and get up to highway speed very quickly.
The interior is very nice in some parts but questionable in others. The lights for the tact and spedometer are a nice white while the climate control and Driver Info Center (CD, radio, warnings, MPG etc.) are a orange yellow. While its not that bad its just kind of weird to see white then yellow at the same time. The seatsare very good and the climate control is incredible. When you set it to 73 degrees in about 5 mins. your car will be 73 degrees. This may be the most comfortable car I have ever driven and been in. Between the climate control, seats, leg room. The driver and all passengers are extremly comfotable and enjoy the ride fully.
The exterior on this car may not be for everyone. I enjoy the retro but still modern look as my mom and friends say im a 65 year old trapped in an athletic 20 year olds body. But I understand how some dont like the size (because it is bigger than many other sedans) and the sharp corners. If you like the style of the CTS it is one of the few cars that incorporates it.
All in all if you are looking for a great used luxury sport sedan the CTS will offer the most value in performance, luxury and style for the money., While the first generation of CTS (03-07) do have a few problems there is nothing major on record. While the 08/09 CTS may be the best sport sedan on the market the 05-07's offer the greatest value but still beat out the Euros and Japanese cars in many aspects....read morehide

I waited 2 years to buy this car. It was so worth the wait! It handles like a dream. Even in the winter, with Blizzak tires.

I have a canadian spec of this vehicle which unlike the US model has heated leatherette seats.I got the 6 speed aisin manual and found that performance really picked up after 5000miles.Ive done recent timed runs 0-60 mph in 7.0 seconds and have seen 38 mpg (CDN)on the highway..all in all especially at this price point an excellant alternative for the BMW buyer ..great warranty as well...currently have 7,000 miles and coming into winter here and the motor loves the cold with better power and terrific climate control system..Standard all season tires are somewhat iffy on really icey roads.......read morehide

I love this car. It is the perfect blend of a sports car and luxury car. Went to look at an Escalade and took it for a drive to satisfy my 14 year old son who loves it, and I fell in love with it. After driving mom vans and suv's for years, I now look for excuses to go to the grocery store.

I researched new cars for nearly a year before deciding on the CTS. I researched the Lexus ES330, the Chrysler 300, the Infiniti G35, and several others. I tested and researched everything from safety to reliability to owner satisfaction. The CTS won, in my books. I have now owned my CTS for about 7 months and it is, hands down, the best car I have ever owned. It turns heads, it has power, it's is very plush and comfortable inside, the Bose stereo rocks, Onstar is great...it's absolutely the best.
I would highly recommend this car to anyone who is looking in this price-line. It's the greatest!...read morehide

Buyer beware! Car has been in the shop for about 21 days total. The battery continues to die out. Have had the car towed from my garage on three occasions. The car has also died while driving on three different occasions. Cadillac representatives can't seem to figure out the problem. Very frustrating. Have also had two recalls on the same car....read morehide

Overall, I think this is a great car for the money. American made car that can compete with any foreign cars and come out ahead.

One year update. 14000 miles. No problems only the satisfaction of having the nicest car in the hospital. Cadillac still has the "awe" in awesome. It's nice to know that people are impressed even though I could care what they think.
