Purchased As New
Purchased as compromise between full size pickup and Explorer. Decent milage, comfortable on long rides. Low maintainence. Good sound system, power rear window a plus. Fold down rear seat cargo space good with extra hidden space behind rear seats.

2005 Sport Trac purchased used (demo). So far im very pleased with the truck. It looked great and it rides very stable. I love it...
I'm, a bit concern about some reviews i red about this truct. like how it failed the tip over test and the balljoint issue, peeling paint and cupping tire..
So far the truck rides smooth. i had taken it up to 90mph and it feel like i wasn't driving a truck at all A+. Some minor wind noice but bearable.
comportable on longs rides and the roomy rear passenger seat was a plus. Slow on take offs but i like that.... shifts really smooth...

Ford has a front end problem from the factory, though they say the settings are within limits of Ford specifications, it causes the goodyear AT tires to cup from day one! They know there is a problem with it. There is a TSB put out in May 2005 about the sporttrac tires and they should replace them... but not our Ford dealer in Pensacola! We took the truck in to be looked at in November, a 3rd time, and they said they checked for a TSB, but there wasnt one. I was so dissatisfied with them but.... a small town dealership in NC really helped me out because they knew I had been done wrong by that dealership. They could not pulll up any history on the oaisis about my tires, though I had been complaining and complaining about them. She checked the TSB and found it had been out since May 05. I Had the tires described in the TSB and agreed to give me 4 new tires. When I pulled up to pick up my wife with the new tires, we drove 100 yards down the road and she started crying because the stress of hearing those loud, headache producing, noisy tires was gone. She was so relieved. We are still skeptical though, looking for signs of cupping out of habit. Well are very relieved, but still very upset we spent almost $30k and were treated by the big dealer like we were stupid. They told us it was our fault too, not rotating and balancing even when we showed them the paperwork. It was always our fault. I do not accept it and neither should any of you! Write and call Dearborne Michigan and give em hell!...read morehide

I was happy with it until the timing chain broke. I would have still been happy if Ford stood behind their product and fixed the problem. They didn't, so I can not recommend this truck. I was planningto buy another Sport Trac or F-150 when the time came. Not now though.

For some reason critters, (squirrels) have been attracted to underneath the vehicle. This has caused me hardship as the critters have chewed a small hole thru the vapor hose from the gas tank which is a $500.00 job to repair. I've only had the car 2 months and it only has 3000 miles. Freedom Ford, for Clearwater Florida would not do anything to lower the labor as the part to repair was only $95.00. I will not deal with that dealership again. Very disappointed. If this can happen to me once, it can happen again. None of my neighbors have ever experience anything like this. I don't live in a critters invested area and my vehicle doesn't sit in one place for very long. My name is Dean Martin

Really enjoy this truck. So far no problems. This is a great highway traveler. Really like the push button vent for the back glass.
and cover does a great job at keeping things dry in the bed.

It's versatility can't be beat! You can haul stuff covered, uncovered, long stuff, short stuff, way cool truck. My only concerns were 2 items:
#1--fuel economy not that great but what SUV/Truck is?
#2--room between the door and the seat controls--I have very small hands & I gotta say every time I try and adjust the seat I hit the seat warmer or just get my hand squished up between the 2. Ford was definitely smoking something when they tested that out, lol!
I traded a 2000 Explorer V8 and this truck isn't quite as peppy on the start but it has TONS of open road power & a WAY better ride! If Ford offered this in a small V8 and addressed the door space issue I'd give it a 100% score.
As for 4X4 off roading--this truck was superior to most 4X4's I've owned or driven. We had it in DEEP sand off Oregon Inlet, NC and while we saw numerous full sized Chevy's and Nissan's stuck, we drove thru without even a tire spin! VERY Impressive!...read morehide

Love this vehicle. Aside from a little rough ride and cutting on the seat warmer every time I get into the sport trac, I love it. We did have to send it back to the dealer because there were some bad paint spots from the factory, and it took 3 weeks to repair it so that was a bad deal. But the dealer did give us a free loaner and took care of the problem. We added a 10" LCD screen with a Dvd player and the kids love it. The wireless headphones are really convenient too. We use the storage compartment in the back a lot. I would definently recommend the Sport Trac Adrenalin to anyone shopping for such a vehicle....read morehide
