Both me and my wife use our Jeep Lib 3.7L 4x4 for city driving & open Hwy (55 min to work). Love it, handles great, parks easy, Plenty of Traction on Canadian Snowy/Ice roads - not many cars can handle it up here. Fuel Eco was lower for the first few months - especialy on short city trips, but getting better (who buys a 4x4 for fuel eco anyway). Its not as comfortable on looong trip as some of the larger SUVs, but I wouldnt trade this for Jeep for any of them. For next year Im going to put some Goodyear Triple-Treads on it - but but if your lucky enough to NOT live in Manitoba Canada then Im sure the factory rubber is just fine. Advised my parents in-law to get one and they love it just as much....read morehide

This Jeep handles nicely. I have owned the Jeep Liberty for 1 year. I have visited the dealer I purchased the Jeep from in Hillsboro, TX about a grinding noise in the driver wheel area and also visited a dealer in Fairfield, TX about the same condition; both advised the grind is due to moisture build-up. Nothing can be done according to them....read morehide

I bought my 2005 Jeep Liberty Limited from a dealer, new, in February 2006. It was the last 05 on the lot and they wanted to MOVE it. The sticker read nearly $29,000...they let me have it for $22,400.
The Jeep has a sturdy feel, the cabin's very quiet and it has excellent acceleration. Off-road, it's as good as the Toyota trucks I'd driven since 1991. The gas mileage is horrible. Why? Because the Liberty weighs in at 4,000 pounds. On a weekend trip from Little Rock to Dallas, I got 20.6 miles per gallon on the highway. It gets about 14 around town. I expect that after I've put a couple of thousand miles on the odometer, the mileage will improve, but not by much. Still, I enjoy the Liberty even if the gas gauge needle always seems to be pointing to the left....read morehide

I have a 2005 Jeep Liberty, and I love it. Sure it could look better, but it's a jeep. It's powerful, comfortable, easy to drive, fun to drive, and I'm averaging 400 per tank full. I have a special edition (Rocky mtn.) so I have a few creature comforts that make my Liberty the perfect SUV. I had a fully loaded Dodge Durango (2000) that got 9 miles to the gallon, and had to find someting more economical...This is it. If you are looking for a smaller SUV then look no more. After all, It's a JEEP. By the way I helped a BMW X5 out of the sand the other day, his 50,000.00 SAV couldn't do it on it's own. It took 3 minutes to get him out. I mean really, It's a JEEP!...read morehide

When I bought this thing the salesman assured me that I would be very impressed with the ride as well as the fuel economy. I traded a Suburban for this piece of junk! These things get the same gas milage as the Suburban with no where near the ammenities or comfort. What a mistake. I would never buy another one of these....read morehide

I have owned my Jeep Liberty 2.4 4X4 (Cherokee in Sweden) for 40 days and so far I'm very pleased. It's my first SUV and I have no problem driving the car on our glassy winterways here in Sweden, just put in 4 wheel drive.
The only issue so far is the automatic lock of the rear door when I start the engine. To open it I must stop the engine, remove the key and unlock the door with the remote control, it's irritated and I hope there is a work around for that....read morehide

This is my second Jeep Liberty. I loved my 2001 Liberty, so I had to buy another one, a newer one. 2005 is much better. It's sharp turns, the power in the engine, the comfortable seats. It's the perfect small SUV. It climps over everything. They must have changed the suspension in the 05 because the 05 isn't as rough as my 01 Jeep. I don't mind the rough ride, it's a Jeep. Only two minor complaints the rattling back window and the visor hooks are backwards. In order to put the visor back into position, you have to look at the hook (taking your eyes off the road) because it hooks from front instead of the back like most cars. There's no easy way to hook it. When it hooks on the back, you can slide it down the roof into the hook without looking. I either end up hitting myself in the face with the visor or leaving it unhooked until I'm stopped. On both my 01 and 05, after having the Jeep for one year, the back window rattles. Dealership can't seem to fix this problem. Other than these two things, I love my Jeep Liberty and will probably buy another one if they are still around in 2008....read morehide

I have never liked it from the time I bought it , it was supposed to get 23-23 mpg and it has never gotten over 19.
The dealership would not make good on the fuel mileage and now I am stuck with it I have had it 6 months and it has lost 6000 in value and only has 12000 miles on it.
The gear shift has already broke and dust pours in the back door and it rattles and I had it fixed twice.
A Chevy suburban gets as good on fuel mileage as this does..
I will never buy another Chrysler product...read morehide

It is back wheele drive. I wasn't aware of this when I bought it. I live in western MA and it sucks in snow. If I don't have 4 wheel drive on, I slide constantly. I love my Jeep but this unbalanced control is making it horrible to drive. My husband won't drive it now because he went off the high way and almost lost his life because of the tires skidding making it loose control....read morehide
