Purchased As New
I purchased my 2005 Sedona in 2006, so I got a $5,000 rebate on the van. I never thought that a single man would get so much use out of a mini van. This van is good in the snow, and handles well on winter roads. I feel safe, and secure in my Sedona. I've had a few little things that required me to take it back to the dealer, but the warranty covered them. Defective fuel caps twice. Please note that this problem will cause the "check engine light" to come on. Service from my dealer has been excellent. This is my third Kia. I've seen some negative reviews on this van. Kia's quality has increased alot since 2005. I've had 3 older models that were excellent. The first Kia I bought in 2000 is still on the road. Here it is 2009, and my 2005 Sedona is doing just fine with just under 54,000 on the odometer. My sister liked my Sedona so much, she purchased a 2004 Sedona EX. I let her drive mine just once. I've talked to another 2005 Sedona owner, and he told me they loved it. He told me that it has been all over, and had over 120,000 miles on it. I think past Sedona owners, who had a bad experience should give them another look. Kia's, and the dealers have come a long way since 2005. Check out their website, and do some research. You'll see what I've been talking about. As for my Kia Sedona it has been a very good vehicle....read morehide

car is very cheap and you can not afford to repair it when it breaks down.

I purchased 2003 model! Nothing but problems. Engine check light came on dozen times. Windows does not roll up!!!! Guess what? KIA Corporation swap my 2003 to 2004 without charge. Of course engine check light came on three times. After third times, it won't comes on any more. Must be fixed? KIA technician still in the stage of learn how to fixing... Warrenty is GREAT? But need to spend many hours at the shop. KIA need to work on qualify assurance before hand over to market or consumer. Over all it is inexpensive compare to other Japanese brand. But KIA still far behind. Hope future KIA is better than mine?...read morehide

2005 Kia Sedona EX
This vehicle is a great deal!!! Kia started out with a pretty unreliable vehicle with problems, pretty much like most vehicles when they are first introduced. Kia has worked out there problems. I now have a very comfortable and fun to drive mini-van. Compared against the rest of the mini-vans on the market it is just lacking a few features, like fold away seating. But lets face it where can you get a vehicle 20g's less than the rest of the mini-van market. I will tell you, Kia. I test drove and even sold other vehicles before, and I can tell you this with Kia you are in good hands. Oh, lets not forget the safety features. Most car companies hear "five star crash test rating", "let's up the price". Not the case with a Kia, you don't necessarily get what you pay for, with Kia you get more. This vehicle offers the five star without the inflated price.
So put away the other $20,000 (you are going to spend on a popular minivan) and apply it towards your childs future. Kia is the way to go!!!...read morehide

I at first was wary of Kia's because of the lower ratings for quality, however, the Kia Company has really improved when they decided to make quality number one. This van is as every bit as good as the other minivans in it's class. I am very satisfied with all the goodies you get for the money and the rebate was really the kicker in the deal. I would have paid 10 more grand for the same thing for a honda or nissan. The current ratings reflect the van 3 or 4 years ago before quality became such an important factor for this vehicle. I would go back and get another one trade in time. It is reliable as any thing going and I believe this will last at least over a hundred thousand miles before any real problems occur. I hope Hyundai which owns Kia will make a van as I am sure it will be as nice as this one as I like both company's pride in their quality, and hyudai has a new plant in America as well. That should make American car buyers happy, too....read morehide

We've always driven Chrysler mini-vans and went to the Dodge dealer to update our 2001. They had no low mileage Chryslers, but we tested a 2005 Kia with 7,000 miles on it. They were low pressure and let us test it for four hours - we loved it. The cost was $16,500. Time will tell how the 2005 Kia Sedona LX holds up....read morehide

Two years ago, I traded in my Toyota Sienna to get this minivan (2003/Ex). I'm still loving it a great deal. I already put 38000 miles on it and I can tell you it¡¯s still great! I like the car because of safety features that you don't have to pay extra. And it already had everything I wanted to see in my minivan. No extra charge for options!...read morehide

Well, we finally bought a minivan and it's a Kia, who would've thought? Like most American's, I associate the brand Kia and Hyundai with a cheap product that will drive like a tank and not last more than 30,000 miles. Honestly I am embaraased to drive a vehicle that has the Kia stamped on it and am looking for a way to remove the emblems.
However, its not fair to stereotype their product. The 2005 Kia Sedona EX that we purchased is Sage Green with a beige bottom and has very light fabric inside. The front and captain seats in the middle row are more comfortable than that of a Caravan or Freestar. The engine has a 5 speed transmission which keeps it quieter than the Freestar or Caravan's 4 speed. This Van has more room in it than a standard Caravan but less than a Freestar, this van is more in the middle between a Caravan and Grand Caravan, yet its several thousand less than a Grand. The interior of this van is much more appealing than any other domestic product and feels very light and airy. I am hoping my MPG gets better as my last tank which was mostly highway miles turned up a 16 MPG, not good.
This van drives well and is excellent on the highway, it is comfortable on long trips. Once again this is where the 5 speed auto transmission shines. Its not the smoothest riding van out there but it does a fair job on buffering out highway imperfections, interior noise from the road is held to a minimum. You'll have no problem talking to those sitting in the last row while you're driving.
The seats do not fold into the floor, but are not difficult to get in and out of the van either. They are not light but managebale, if your a small petite female you will probably need help. I am leaving the split bench seat that's in the very back out of the van and in my garage, because I don;t need them unless company comes and visits.
Overall this Van is better than all Domestic products that are priced similarly or more but does not meet up with the more expensive Japanses imports. If I had all the money in the world I'd buy a Honda Odyssey (best van on the market) but since I am budget minded I chose the Kia because of its value and refinement over the domestic products.
Afterall folks, this is a Minvan we're talking about. It's not supposed to be exciting to buy, its to be practical and the Kia Sedona seems to be a very practical decision indeed....read morehide

My wife and I bought this car (EX model) two weeks ago, and immiediately took a trip in it. We also looked closely at the Chrysler Town and Country, but went with the Kia becasue of the hard-to-beat price, mostly. It ended up being about $3500 cheaper than the similar T&C, and it came with more little niceties. Why a minivan? Baby, of course. It's a lot easier getting her into a car seat through a sliding side door, and a lot easier to get to her if the need arises.
Features you will appreciate more than you might think: the back seats have vents (over the windows), and the fans can be controlled from the back. "Are you getting any A/C back there?" YES. (The Chrysler only had puny under-the-front-seat vents, and they did not do the job. You could get better rear vents - for about $1700 extra. Outrageous.) Also, there was an outlet (lighter jack) in the armrest of the back row seats.
My favorite feature: flip-up tray between the front seats. For those of us who like to eat fast food in the car, this saves a lot of mess. My other car has old fries under the seats and salt everywhere.
Plenty of power - we drove through Kentucky and Tennessee, where 85-90 MPH is the norm, even in the hills. Nobody passed us.
Lots of gadgets for the money - the EX trim gives you electric seats/locks/windows, the little ceiling console with clock, CD and Cassette, lots of defrosters, etc. Seats come completely out, if you want to move stuff. Plenty of legroom.
The noise was a little more than I would have liked. You had to turn the radio up a bit to hear well. And there is nothing about the seats that make you want to sleep. Good for driving, bad for napping. Space is cramped in the back - leave that third row for the kids, because adults will have a hard time getting back there. Row 2 is OK, though. Surprisingly, we had a hard time finding a spot to lay a baby down to change her. I think I'm going to remove the third row seats most of the time.
I hope this helps you. Don't let the Kia name scare you off - they have imporved greatly. I also own a 2003 Hyundai, so I know a little about cheap cars. The Hyundai has been great, and I think the Kia will be great, also....read morehide
