My Buddy just bought one of these. I think that Kia's and Hyundia's are basically copy cats of older models of the luxury cars. Sort of the wannabees of the auto industry. What ever works I guess? I would never buy one tho!

Owned a 2003 sorento and was very happy with it.Had 25000 miles on it and was in the dealer only for regular service. The reason i use the past tense ,i was involved in an accident were i was cut off ,hit the offender and then smashed in to a telephone pole head on.THE ENGINE WAS PUSHED BACK IN TO THE FIRE WALL AND THE SORENTO WAS TOTALED.I walked away with not a scratch on me and there was no pentration in to the interrior except for the air bag deloyment on both sides.Would i buy another one?I am out there looking right now....read morehide

My two-tone silver-over-charcoal 2005 Kia Sorento EX with sport and towing packages and a huge warrantee extension would have been a steal at about $32K. But after negotiations and with the $3500 in factory cash to sweeten the deal substantially further ($2500 base factory offering on remaining '05 models plus $1000 additional just for owning a competing model - Jeep Cherokee Laredo) I knew I was getting one of the best new car values ever available.
It turned out that the most expensive and most fully-loaded car I could find on the lot was also the color schema of my highest preference. I negotiated about $800 off the price of a bumper-to-bumper warrantee extension (paid about $1000) and once all numbers-crunching had been completed I escaped the dealership with a real gem of a nicely-appointed mid-size SUV for around $28K! The window sticker reflected about $31K, my offer of $29K was accepted, and on paper, after deduction of applicable factory rebates and before all the taxes, tags, freight, fees and other blah-blah-blah were added in, the numbers added up around $25,500!!! Amazing package for the money, the Kia Sorento!
I highly recommend the 6-cylinder engine which rates out at nearly 200 hp - just a tad underpowered for its gas consumption levels. But it gets up and goes on a straight level stretch and will reach 100+ mph quickly and very smoothly - gives the feel of cruising at 75 mph in a nice luxury-sport touring sedan.
I looked at and seriously considered scads of other makes and models before settling on the KIA Sorento. I could find no other vehicle that could come even reasonably close to matching the Sorento's dollar-for-dollar value. Even the exceedingly affordable nearest competitor, the Hyundai Santa Fe, which also offers the same huge 10 year/100,000 mile powertrain and bumper-to-bumper warrantees (standard base bumper-to-bumper for both makes is 5 years, 60,000 miles) is priced about $1000 more on average. Having considered every possible make and model in the same or even similar class, the Kia Sorento soundly beat out all comers for my hard-earned dollars! The leather seats feel great, the powerful, chest-thumping 6-CD changer am-fm digital-display stereo radio sounds clear even at volume, the power sunroof is great for letting in the elements with very little wind noise and with fold-down seating, she can hold a lot of stuff too! I like my Sorento!!!
Having lived in the Washington DC metro area suburbs for the last twenty-several years, I've seen my share of snow-packed streets and blizzard-like events. Though I considered several car models that are built with front-wheel or rear-wheel drive configurations, I knew that what I really wanted was a nice all-wheel drive model that would serve me well in all weather conditions. Just last night, in fact, after starting my Sorento from the bedroom to get it warmed up (Yes, remote start! Even works from hundreds of meters away! Very convenient!!! And just in case I forget, it cuts itself off after 10 or 15 minutes. :-P) I had no trouble at all navigating our snow-covered streets and highways - even at speed!! We've just had our first measurable snow of the year and I was anxious to take her out and see how she'd do. Well... she held her ground solidly and she didn't wanna go home! Too much fun!!!
For its price, overall value, safety ratings, warrantee programs, interior comfort, general utility, power, smooth ride, convenience and stylish-classy-suberb-Lexus-esque good-looks, the Kia Sorento EX 4x4 SUV gets my all-around best-car-buy top billing!...read morehide

Traded a 2005 Escape Limited for a 2004 Sorento Lx. I got a great deal on a left over Sorento that looks a lot better than the Escape. The inside has room everywhere front to back. The design is nice looks like a Lexus without the price tag. The ride is smooth as silk and the engine is quiet. Has lots of power to haul anything. This is a perfect Suv for anyone that is looking for an Suv. Gas mileage is to be expected for a 4500 lb Suv it clearly shows gas mileage on the sticker. I myself had a problem with the clock and it was fixed and has worked fine since. This is a great Suv for the money and would recomend it to anyone. You can not go wrong with this Suv you get a 10 year 100,000 mile warranty no other american car company can come close to that even a 5 year 60,000 bumper to bumper. You will not be disappointed with this Suv I know im not....read morehide

Have not had the clock or air bag light issues that others have had (not yet anyway!). Has funny step in between low gears sometimes - not sure if it is a common issue or if mine has a unique issue though. I would give up the alititude and Barametric psi to get my trip computer, Distance 'till empty, etc.. that my Grand Cherokee had - really miss it!
Also, outside temperature is not accurate sometimes or takes forever to adjust to the correct temp. Not sure why some of the lower end Kias have a locking gas cover but this one does not (we have an '03 Kia Spectra too which has it).
Overall I am very happy with the purchase and would not mind having another one to replace our other Grand Cherokee (we had two Grands and now I want two Sorentos!!)...read morehide

I've had the car almost three weeks. I love it so far. This car is so quiet it's unreal, particularly when idoling. I've got the manual tranny and I've killed it a few times when I'm backing up because the engine is so quiet. On the road doing 40 with all the windows up the interior is blissfully silent as well.
There is some minor body noise when the car hits those bumbs, more than I would have expected. The back end is a little light as well, and makes it a little more suseptible to spinning out if you're on sand or gravel and accelerate. I can't wait to see how it handles the snow this winter.
I love the acceleration, more than enough power for me. It handles hills and turns with power and grace. It loves the mountain roads here. It's got a short enough wheel base that it just seems to bend around the switch backs and turns.
It is a beautiful car. I had to laugh when a guy at the feed store pointed to it in the parking lot and said to the store owner, "There's forty or fifty thousand worth of car standing a rights thar." I even mistook a Lexus for a KIA the other day, they're so similar in looks. It's a great great car for the value....read morehide

Why pay $45,000 for a smooth & comfortable ride.....This is a great car and it's under $30,000. I've had this car for 4 months now and I have no complains. Both my wife and I love our Sorento. It is fast and smooth on the highway and quick & comfortable on the local city roads. We love the CD and the tape player....and yes, our Sorento does have 10 speakers as mentioned in the brochure....read morehide

My husband and I love this SUV. We've now owned two in a row and couldn't be happier. I like the leather seating, posh interior, great look, and the responsive power. He likes the towing capability and 4WD. We have often been asked if it is a Lexus SUV. Our neighbors liked ours so much they bought one just like it. The only downside is it eats a lot of gas in town but it is an SUV so we weren't surprised. It always get 20mpg on highway trips without fail.
We are now in the market for a 2nd vehicle and either one of us will be thrilled with the Sorento. This is the best looking SUV for the money on the market right now. If you're considering a Lexus or something similar, test drive this car and see what you think. The ride is smooth and it's so peppy. I like horsepower and this engine runs great! It also has great interior convenience such as tilting head rests, heated seats, and more. So fun to drive....read morehide
