I've only put 1000 miles on it. Wow, I could not get anything used from the Toyota/Honda/nissan bunch with lessthan 100000 miles. Why should I, bought this new and has great reviews. I think it is about time somebody is coming out with a good car that can hold up to Toyota/Honda (they are so hyped up and over rated, its a joke!)

I'd like if the 4 cyl. had a little more highway power but great around town. I've heard people complain about gas milage but the 4cyl with stick around town does even better than the Lemon Saturn Ion I had....read morehide

2nd generation sportage is totally different from 1st one. most people regard sportage as first gen.. Actually 1st one was shown mid90's in Korea. It really makes people hesitate to buy one. but by far new one...first, no cars can beat sportage on price . without thinking of price, no one can say this is just a cheap car...a lot of features on base price.
In Korea, gas price is very expensive but diesel price is around 75% of it. so most suv is powered by diesel .....a little shaken til temperature goes up to normal stage but good torque...practical for city driving(stop and go). in these days, i like traffic jam........read morehide

Gas tank leak - recalled

o5 Sportage was recalled for fuel tank leaks. There is leak from fuel intake hose. Not only fuel spills when tank is full but because of pressure leak, gas pump stops pumping everytime I pull the filling lever on the nozzle because of pressure leak. Annoying.

This is a serious defedct and KIA is blamed for not discovering such a major defect sooner.

I am still waiting a replacement tank to arrive at dealer for a month.

My disappointment is greter because I trusted KIA. This is my third KIA. With previous two KIAs, Sephia and Rio, I had no problem in the past....read morehide

I love everything about my Sportage EXCEPT the mileage. The EPA sticker says that we should be getting 19 City, 25 Highway. I commute 11 miles to work, each way. Half the distance is on the freeway (65 mph, no stop-and-go), and half is in-town (35-40 mph, with stoplights). My wife and I do not have lead feet. We've driven our Sportage 2700 miles since we purchased it, new, in late August 2005. We track the mileage every time we fill the tank. To date, the BEST mileage we've had is 19.4 mpg, and that was ONE time. Never before, nor since, have we exceeded 19 mpg. Usually, we see 17 and a fraction. With our driving habits, I'd expect to ALWAYS exceed 19 mpg. Except for the mileage, our Sportage is a great vehicle....read morehide

Ride is very very very bad on the highway

The ride is awful on the highway. Steering wheel vibration is very bad. After three sets of tires, 6 wheel balancing (at two shops) and three trips back to the dealer, the ride on The highway is still unacceptable for a SUV that is only one month old and has only 3000 miles on it. I have contacted KIA Motors and requested they fix this problem to my satisfaction or replace the Sportage with a like model. Another problem is the steering. When in a turn the steering wheel fights back like I am driving manual steering. When coning out of a turn, if you let lose of the steering wheel a little the SUV starts to head straight in the direction it pointing at that moment. Very dangerous. The last visit to the seal the tech said this was normal with ESP equipped vehicles and this was the reason for the “firm” steering. I asked then to check the wheel alignment, but the tech felt the alignment would not cause these problems. I do not think the tech understands what CASTER is for and what function it has in a wheel alignment....read morehide

I think if you want to stay in a specific budget, this car is great. The only thing that I can disagree about is it's acceleration. Otherwise, I would recommend this SUV to anyone. I have had this car since april and have put about 8000 miles on it. I drive it 60 round trip to work most days. It has plenty of room for 2 adults in the front seat and is very comfortable. I have also taken it on long distance family trips, driving it over 800 in 1 day with wife, kids and luggage Much more comfortable for for everyone then other vehicles I have owned and plenty of room for everyone to stretch out and relax. It also has alot of storage for a small suv. It will cruise at 80mph all day on the highway very comfortably. The only problem I have with it is that even the highway gas milage is only about 20mpg averaging 75-80mph....read morehide

I bought this 2005 Ex V6 w/ frontwheel drive with the luxury package.Unbelievable deal through local dealer.It had 5000 mi (demo) got it for 16,600 .Owned by KIA rep and performs flawlessly.I had been lookng @ CRV but they want $8000 more .This vehicle has more options than the CRV or Rav .You wont be disappointed .It handles better than the CRV with no front pull to the right as w/ the CRV.
Great acceleration and power getting about 21.1 -22 around town.( I have a heavy foot)....Go for it and you wont be disappointed with the quality ,features and performance...read morehide
