Upon introduction, the i 4-Door is equipped with a standard 2.0-liter, I4, 148-horsepower engine that achieves 28-mpg in the city and 35-mpg on the highway. The SP23 5-Door is equipped with a standard 2.3-liter, I4, 160-horsepower engine that achieves 25-mpg in the city and 32-mpg on the highway. A 5-speed manual transmission with overdrive is standard on both trims, and a 4-speed automatic transmission with overdrive is optional.
The 2005 i 4-Door is a carryover from 2004. The SP23 5-Door has been freshened for 2005.
