Arm rest could be a little longer - No big deal

I did all the reseach and the Mariner won hands down . . . best buy according to Consumer report! Don't know why these things aren't flying off the shelf. Just bought the Premier model yesterday and already my wife wants to take it for herslf and give me her Nissan Maxima - NEVER!!!

When looking to purchase a small SUV, I looked at every car in its class. The Toyota RAV4 (at the time I had a toyota Highlander), The Honda CRG, Jeep Liberty, Saturn Vue (which made a big mistake in its new styling for '06), Kia sportage, Hundai SantaFe, and the Ford Freestyle (Same platform, but an extremely bland, plastic interior, and undistinctive exterior styling). Was not very interested in any of the offerings but was going to purchase one of them ultimately, that is, before a well timed auto show came to my area. I went to the auto show, and was stunned when I saw the Murcury Marriner, a car I had never even seen on the road. Very nice exterior stylinig, and the nicest interior for a small SUV that I have seen, barnone! Very handsome car inside and out! Mercury should really advertise this car more!!! Went to the dealer a week later, and was able to look at the premier model with all the options and took a test drive. Two days later I was giving a deposit. So far have had the car for about two months. Its great, and I still finding amazement in fit and finish of things I hadnt noticed at first glance . I have been driving Toyota and Honda for the last 10 years, and am happy that I was able to purchase a car assembled in Ohio. Really, no complaints. Everything is great. I do wish they would have included automatic climate control on the premier edition. Would have liked steering wheel mounted volume control in leu of cruise control. And the speakers dont bode well for music with lots of base. Otherwise, a fantastic car. Much better then the toyota Highlander I had previous to the Mercury.

I think I may look at Merucury first the next time I am in the market for a car. Ford should really make an effort to sell the Mercury brand. Have you seen the milan? I think I am going to buy Ford stock now that its cheap. I think the company will make a come back in the comming years....read morehide

I just bought this car on 6/28/2005. I love it ! At first the mpg was low, but now after breaking it in after 5500 miles I am up to 24 mpg. Which is great ! I got the real red one and I got the black/silver interior. Just my kind of colors . The legroom is amazing! Even putting down the backseats is no problem at all . As added feature I do like my MP3 Player in this car . I am amazed how quikly compforable I was driving this car !...read morehide

Just recently we had a tremendous amount of rain. I travel quite a distance to and from work. I was so excited to see that the Mariner handled beautifully in the rain. I have owned this car for almost a year. I love it so much that at the end of my lease I am definetly considering buying it. It is the best SUV for commuting in New Jersey...read morehide

My wife always wanted an SUV, so when the family pricing came out, I started looking. I can't imagine why anyone would buy a Ford escape when the Mariner is so much nicer--the exterior and interior. I was able to put nothing down and walk out the door for $21k on a luxury trim. We get compliments every week about the quality and appearance of the Mariner....read morehide

Suede on my leather/suede driver seat is cracking, Interior needs temp. gauge and compass.

I bought my mariner in October of 2004. Immediately I fell in love with it! Great in the inclimate weather and the intelligent automatic 4 wheel drive feature is great. My vehicle has the leather seats with suede. In August of 2005 I noticed cracking on the edge of the suede section on the drivers' side only. I am not a larger person nor do I drive excessively. Since it's under warranty I am having it fixed but that will take anywhere from 1-2 days. Other than that and the obvious gripes about fuel costs in the city, I absolutely love my Mariner. I recommend it to anyone who wants a small SUV.

Just bought a Mariner right off the show room floor and has been to the shop twice now at 500 miles on the odometer.
They are changing the transmission.
When I get it back I will see if it overheats again as well since they can't find the problem for that and said it was a negative battery cable loose....read morehide

Have owned it 1 1/2 months and LOVE it. Large amount of room for my family of five with plenty of extra space in the rear. I'd traded in a small foreign car and will never go back. This Mercury is one real pleasure to own and drive. Just finished a weekend trip where I did about 475 miles of driving. Very surprised to learn I got 29.7 mpg on this 'all highway' trip (4 cyl eng) -- Much better than I expected. Only problem I've had is a slight grease stain on the light colored cloth seating. Stain was totally my fault but removing it has been a chore as yet unaccomplished. The car is GREAT and I highly recommend it !...read morehide

No outside temperature display. Not sure about fuel economy yet.

Only had my car for 2 weeks and just love to drive it. I had a Ford Expedition and was not certain a smaller car would suit me. This little car is wonderful. I highly recommend that you try it. My dealership was wonderful to work with.
