This is a great car for the price. I have the premier with AWD. Very classy looking, two tone seats, and the CVT is very smooth.

Turning radius not very tight, torque steer pulls car to right if you hit gas hard.

Love this car. High seating, much like smaller SUV's. Six foot six guest had plenty of leg room and head room in back seat. CVT incredibly smooth. Car is more rigid than you might expect, gives car a smooth stable feel. Ruined a $300 wheel and $166 tire hitting a curb at an angle at only about ten MPH. I suppose this is a problem with low profile tires. Lousy turning radius, I tend to often hit a rear wheel making a turn where there is a curb. I do not find this car to be underpowered, as CVT optimizes what you have....read morehide

AWD is great, interior is beautiful, access and driver's pos is great, power just enough

engine a little noisey

Looks like a large german sedan. Feels like a much larger car especially at night or in slippery driving condition. I'm a big fan of the '49 Merc and this car has some styling similarities. More impressive looking than smaller Lincolns.
Drive isn't quite as heavy towards the front end as the average front driver. Wife loves the heated seats and safety features....read morehide

Roominess, and luxury feeling, car sits high, thats good , good brakes, to much body roll though.

Cons

Passenger side ride so so, ground noise,and strut noises , engine hesitates on spirited take off.

I saw the original prototype drawings, and I think they should have followed that to a T, also the front end could be tighter, kinda like a BMW or Infinity feel. I hope this six speed auto trans, has no recalls, after all GM & Ford worked on it together

My wife is handicapped and in wheelchair. She has trouble transferring from chair to seating of car but not with my Montego. With passenger power seating makes it even more convenient. I would like to see the support handle on ceiling further forward and it's present location is not of much use in it's present location. Love the truck space Wheel chair has no trouble fitting in trunk. Overall I give the Montego a 9 ration out of 10. Have not had enough time to analize the Montego in all aspects. But so far I love the ride, handling and performance. We are senior citizens, I 83 and my wife 81....read morehide

Was not looking for a Ford product--saw this car accidentally and it was everything I was looking for and more. This is my 1st Mercury vehicle and I am quite impressed and pleased with it. After test-driving a multitude of cars, I chose the Mercury Montego. The Montego handled as well as any car that I test drove and seemed quicker than the V6 Ford Mustang. This is not to say that the Montego is a sports car or anything, but the 200+ HP V6 has plenty of punch for this car. It corners well and its 4-wheel ABS standard stops the car very quickly. Gas Mileage??

I have the AWD model and am wondering about the stated gas mileage, because I have been getting 16.4 in town and 19/21 on the highway. I know the AWD version is supposed to get a bit lower mileage, but that seems very low compared to what I expected. Overall though, I love the car.

Good looks, great ride, comfortable, easy to get it and out. Ample power in available engine.

6 Speed transmission is Noisy when shifting from first to second, bubbles on dash storage lid.

Traded in my Altima with 142,000 miles....was still running great.
The Montego is my first car not built in Japan since the late 70's. I hope that it has the durability of the cars built in Japan. Time will tell. The Montego is so much more comfortable, roomier and quiet than my Altima. It definitely has the "big car ride".That was the selling point for me. I have been averaging almost 26 miles per gallon with combined driving city and highway. I have no complaints with the power of the engine.
