very upset my ABS controller failed after 6 months of ownership dealer wants over 2,000 researched on internet several consumers have this problem Nissan needs to do a recall got a second opinion car mechanic told me Nissan is a piece of junk!!!!!!!!!!!!!Recommend don't buy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wide turning radius

I'm in my 50s and have owned more than 15 cars over the years but this one is the best. The looks of this car take my breath away. It's a black SE with every option except for the elite seating and navigation system (yes, it has the optional chrome wheels which are awesome). The bose sound system is amazing and the engine produces plenty of power while still being fuel efficent (the EPA rating of 28 highway is attainable). A big advantage of the Maxima over it's competitors (Acura RL and Infinity G35) is that it runs on regular gas. It also has a lower price tag and in my opinion, it's better looking than the RL or G35. The Maxima is a pleasure to drive. It is comfortable and quite. The heated steering wheel is a great feature. I am 6'4" and have plenty of leg room. The telescoping steering wheel adds to the comfort. With the Bose stereo, 6 disc changer, and XM radio, the 320 watts is pure listening pleasure. With 265HP, the V6 offers plenty of power. I have driven a nissan maxima starting in 1989, then the 1991 then the 1996, and now the 2005. I love maxima's because of the look and resale. I kept them all and paid them off eventually and resold for cash then brought the next one. Never had a major problem out of these cars. I wouldn't drive anything else. I have driven these maxima's up to 165,000 miles with NO major problems. Now that's a well build vehicle. The 2005 came off the showroom floor with all the extra's sticker was 35,000. I got luck and went looking around the time the 2006's came in. They reduced this one to 29,000. I took it and ran what a deal.. I'm gonna drive the wheels off this one.....read morehide

HORRIBLE turning radius, quality is good, but used to be better, no automatic locking doors.

This is a wonderful car, a Maxima in the truest form. It has an Art Deco appearance about it. Just a few "trivial" things about the car. The huge turning radius is aweful, no self-locking doors, the grille (to me) is out of touch with the car, the back tail lamps are in good taste, but needs to have "yellow" turn signal indicators. One final thought, bring back the keyless keypad on the front doors! That was one the Maxima's trademarks and wonderful feature....read morehide

Sensitive Throttle

I've owned this car for two months now. I've always like the maximas and am glad that I made the choice to purchase this car. My alternative choices were Acura 3.2TL, Toyotal Avalon, and Infiniti G35. I think the only other car in this class that could even come close to the value and performance of Maxima is the Avalon I must say that Nissan did an amazing job with designing this car. For a mid-size car it performs like a sport-car. I opted for the SE because of the 18" rims...which came in chrome...gave it a sportier look. The cornering is flat and the breaking is phenominal. Oh, can't forget about acceleration, which is fast. Without the great sound system on, the cabin is quiet even at high speeds. The fuel economy is good for a 3.5L V6. The seats are bolstered well...with 8-way power driver and passenger seats. Some of the features are...heated leather seats, heated steering wheel, power sun-roof, memory seat, power adjustable steering wheel, bose 8-speaker system, 6 disc in-dash changer, H.I.D headlights, and chrome 18" wheels.
