Would like to see outside temperature guage for winter driving, heated mirrors as standard equipment, a more solid gas cap cover with lock, better gas milage.

This is not your Yuppie SUV. This truck is awsome. I bought it about 5 months ago and love it. I use it to haul my boat. The ride is great pulling the boat or not. The fuel economy is good, and the power is always there when you need it. I have had Jeeps and this truck rolls right over them. More power, more room, and better looks. I'll never get another SUV other than a Xterra...read morehide

If you thinkin of buyin this truck go 4 the SE. U get the running boards, vanity mirrors, storage etc. Believe me its worth it. As far as power this is the truck. More power than most V8 out there. Once again Nissan has a winner......

This is the first SUV I've owned.. Was very pleased with the power and ride of the vehicle. Compared it to several other SUV a out shined them. I own the SE model so the sound system really is great love the sound and the steering wheel controls. Has all the safety equipment I was looking for except rear curtain airbags. Might not be the best for people with kids... I also wish in the SE model the carpet for the Cargo area came standard... Stuff just slides around ont he hard plastics and for those of us that just use the vehicle for commutes would be nice addition. The gear box on the roof just seems silly the style of it is cool but what fits in there and should have used better plastic seems like if you really use the storage area the door will just snap off....read morehide

At first I loved my new Nissan & felt the 25K I spent was well worth the money. But then 4 weeks into it a steering problem started & after 4 visits to my dealership it is still not right.
Squeaky, rough steering action. Must be manually steered out of every turn - especially in cold weather. Like it has no power steering.
I'm very disappointed in the treatment I've recieved from the service department of the dealership I purchased the vehicle.
I feel like I've bought a lemon!...read morehide

For all you get, there is nothing the competition offers that can touch it on price... a great value! I got the 4X4 S with Power Pkg, Utility Pkg, Side Curtain Air Bags, and Tow Pkg. I've got all the bases covered... I hope to keep this vehicle for 10 years! However, I will be installing Yakima crossbars when available.
FYI - Yakima is coming out with a new crossbar attachment for the Xterra factory rack. It should be available in Feb. 06. Note: The 05 factory tubing is larger than the previous generation Xterra....read morehide

My wife wanted a BMW or an Infinity G35. So we bought an '05 Xterra. The truck is more solid and confident than a $22k truck deserves to be. Get the power doors and windows, and leave the rest. $400 for fog lights? $600+ for an "average" stereo upgrade? My opinion is I can get premium parts for the same price. Other people might like the warranty coverage on those parts, but for me it's not worth it. Other than that, this truck is flawless. No frills; tons of power, room, and cargo configurations. It drives like a champ though it's a little squirrly in high wind situations. Auto tranny is smooth and solid. Runs on regular gas with decent MPG for a truck. The best thing I can say about this truck is that you don't have to think about it. Get in and enjoy the drive....read morehide

4x2, Automatic, $20,400
I get many head turns driving around in this aesthetically pimp vehicle, i.e. chicks dig it! Minimal body roll for a S.U.V. (springs & dampers tuned well to body weight distribution) plus good shock absorbtion from asphalt road bumps. Very low noise/vibration/harshness characteristics. I haven't taken it off-road yet, but the aforementioned details combined with the powerful engine suggest performance to parallel on-road performance.
Everyone at autos.yahoo.com remark on the engine power...I agree except when I mash down on the throttle the automatic doesn't get any wheel spin which amounts to max. torque/power unachieved at launch. I've driven a 2004 automatic GMC 1500 regular cab and when I do the latter, it accelerates aggresivley...maybe the GMC is lighter. In hindsight I might need to disengage the VDC controller that prevents wheel spin...I will try this later. Other than that, the 265 horsepower is great except for the accompanying low city M.P.G. which is an acceptable tradeoff. I really wish I could have gotten the 6 speed manual. I imagine that would provide the torque accleration I desire.
Initially, the interior has a plasticy feel but after a few rides, it has grown on me. It has crisp, interior lines and has easy to clean cargo bay with plenty of tie-downs.
Again, very impressed with suspension and engine capabilities.
The 2nd generation Nissan Xterra is a winner in many regards....read morehide
