While other car manufacturers have catchy slogans.. "Drivers wanted", "Zoom-Zoom", the folks who have driven the new Carrera 997 S know what they were trying to say... except it was about This Car. With legendary roots, the 997 S is yet anothter pristine example of Porsche engineering. Very tight handling, extremely good looking, makes you look like you lost 15 pounds and are 10 years younger...
Yes, it cost about a "hundy" for the Cabriolet after all the "must have" options...but it feels so good.
While Daimler Chrysler is trying to put the Hemi into every car in thier lineup, they just don't match up.. half the price ... maybe. .. And close in the 0-60... but the 60-160... ? forget about it.
Love this car....read morehide

WHEN PORSCHE INTRODUCED THE 911 IN 1964, VARIOUS REFINEMENTS THROUGHOUT THE YEARS RESULTED TO TODAYS 911 CAB S...OWNING SEVERAL PORSCHES, 911'S, 930 SLANTNOSES, 914-6 AND OTHERS, I FOUND THAT PORSCHE SYMBOLIZED ITSELF AS A LEADER IN SPORTSCARS...I HAVE NEVER HAD A PROBLEM WITH PORSCHE DEALERSHIPS, IN FACT ALWAYS FOUND THEM MOST PLEASURABLE...ALSO THE MAINTENANCE FACTOR IS MUCH BETTER THAN THAT OF FERRARI AND LAMBORGHINI..HAVING ROYCES AS THE PRIMARY LUXURY MOTORCAR, PORSCHE IS A TRUE "GENTLEMAN'S" SPORTSCAR!!!!...read morehide

I drove G35 prior to Carrera. G35 was fast and very reliable but once I drove 997, I had to trade the G35. In contrast to G35, 997 carrera seems more quiet, less road noises. Porsche seems much more smoother than G35. With 325 HP, I thought the car would be really noisy but I was wrong.
Tomorrow, I am trading in my Carrera to Carrera S cab. I'll let you guys know. I live in Southern Cal so I must have the sun and attention when I drive my Carrera S CAB....read morehide

I bought my first Porsche a 2000 in vesiuvio gray a couple of years ago. I've been hooked on the Porsche "experience" ever since.
This car just simple rocks. I had a WRX STI for kicks, a fast car no doubt, but the Carrera is fast, luxurious, and status rolled into one.
Nothing comes close.
The only down side is the cost, but hey, if you're in this range of car, cost should be secondary to what you want your Porsche to be....read morehide

We have owned 5 Porsche 911s in the last 13 years. This is the best one yet. However, the usual Porsche irritations remain such as rattles, rattles, and more rattles. There is also wind noise hissing through the drivers side window at speeds over 40 mph. We also have the latest Boxster S. They did a better redesgin with that car than the 911. The Boxster has less power but other than that it is a much better designed car and a lot less money. It handles like it's on rails! Personally, I don't think the 911 is worth the extra money....read morehide

This is the best Porsche 911 Carrera Cabriolet S built!! It has a huge abundance of power, great brakes( just in case you make too good use of that power ) a very comfortable cabin ( even though the rear seats are still small ),
and beautiful styling!!! All of the controls are easy to operate and I love the fact that you can put the top down at up to 30 m.p.h!!! The gearbox is precise
and fun to row through and the engine purs like a kitten when the r.p.ms rise!! I love this car!!...read morehide

I own a 996 cab, and I'm looking to upgrade to an S so I have been test driving the 997S... the sound is back to classic Porsche. My 996 is a sweet ride, but much smoother and less like a race car than the 997. The 05's have a much better tranny and the S pulls harder in the higher gears... must be that extra 30 or so hp. Overall, the 997 is a spectacular car! You pay a lot for it, but you can't help but feel a certain "coolness" that you don't feel with any other car when you pull out of your garage!...read morehide

My first Porsche, a 911 Carrera S. Not too many miles on it, but it is exciting!! Buy this instead of a Corvette, as its fit and finish and rideability are much superior.
If you are concerned about how it does mano-a-mano with the Z06, then wait for the 911 Carrera Turbo and TurboS, later this year....read morehide
