Although you have AWD the car is only about six inches off the ground, after about 6 inches of snow better get a tow truck. if they plow your road DON"T drive threw the snowbank at the end of the driveway, it will cause 5 to 6 hundred dollars of damage to the cheap front bumper. LOOKING FOR A NEW CAR NOW....read morehide

I bought this car the last day of 2004 and have driven it through everything since. It very reliable and I have had zero problems.
Its a spartan vehicle that is perfect for commuting in bad weather climates. I live in Connecticut where it rains and snows a lot. I get about 25 MPG and I drive 50/50 city/highway, which is weaker than I thought I'd get. Not great for real long drives, seats tend to get uncomfortable.
Bottom line is you can't beat the value, AWD, ABS, Power everything for around 17K, you can't beat that....read morehide

The Canadian Roads in winter can be tricky, and I need a compact car to drive around the city. The Impreza is exactly what I'm looking for and at a price I can afford. There's simply no other 4WD cars out there with the same amenities.
The exterior styling, although improved in 2004, can be better ...
I owned the first generation Dodge Neon, they also had frame-less doors ... They add a sporty feel, but the wind noise started to creep in after a couple years. Hopefully this won't happen to the Impreza as much.
Overall it's a solid, confident, and with one of the most powerful engine in it's class, I find it very easy to weave in & out of traffic in the city. Can't wait to see the re-designed 2007 Impreza though....read morehide

This car is a great deal. I actually totaled my first one, and had no qualms about getting a replacement. The seatbelt and airbag saved my life.

don't judge this car by the exterior looks. unless you can afford the wrx with the hood scoop and wing or the decked out sti this is the best it will get! get inside and take a drive, this car is solid and fun to drive. i have looked at comparable cars and they don't even come close when it comes to interior comfort and performance. this little car can move!...read morehide

I'VE OWNED AN EVOIII, AND A WRX AND TO BE VERY HONEST, THIS IS THE BEST RIDE I HAVE EVER OWNED. FOR SHEAR SPEED, LOOK TO THE OTHER'S BUT EVERYTHING ELSE POINTS THE 2.5 RS' WAY. IT IS CHEAPER TO BUY AND OWN, HANDLES ALMOST AS GOOD AS EVO AND AS GOOD AS WRX, ACCELERATES TO 60 IN 6.8 - 7.3 SECONDS, IS VERY REFINED AND QUIET COMPARED TO EVO AND GETS 24 MILES TO THE GALLON. THE CAR LOOKS GREAT AND IS A BLAST TO DRIVE. THE MATERIALS INSIDE ARE OF GOOD QUALITY AND FIT AND FINISH ARE EXCELLENT, NO RATTLES OR SQUEAKS.
THE EVO AND STI ARE FANTASTIC WEEKEND CARS BUT THE IMPREZA 2.5 RS IS THE HANDS DOWN WINNER FOR DAILY DRIVING IN THE AWD SEGMENT....read morehide

I upgrade from a Civic ex 2002 and what a world of difference. The impreza 2.5 RS handles and rides like a VW. (I like!!!!) The car is drum tight, accelleration in the 2.5 is more than plenty.(engine make a wonderful growling sound when pushed)
The AWD is outstanding performance wise and in the snow. This car inspires confidance in any weather.
The fit and finish are up to Honda/Toyota standards. The engine is "Super smooth and Refined" I love how the seats hold you firmly in place. The Auto transmission is ultra smooth and very responsive (Dive by wire Tech for 2005)
Go buy this Car!!!!!!!!!!!!...read morehide

This car is an absolute blast to drive. For under $20,000 (only $189/month to lease), the impreza RS cannot be beat. The acceleration is alright (better than most, if not all other entry level sedans), and the handling/cornering is amazing. I also was trampling over everything in my path after we got a foot of snow the other day, while everyone else i know with front or rear wheel drive cars was getting stuck.
While it doesn't have the power of the wrx or the sti, it does have just enough juice to keep you entertained. I look forward to driving this car every day.
I bought the metallic grey with the black interior. The color combo is nice and the spoiler makes it basically look like the wrx (minus the hood scoop obviously). Overall, great performance and looks, im very happy with the car....read morehide

Rear leg room is marginal.
Parts are expensive and take a long time to arrive
recommend standard transmission as power is lacking for auto transmission.
black color scratches easily.
