I have owned a Tercel and Corolla in the past and they were both great cars. Then I moved up to the 2003 Camry. I hate this car.
The windows creak and make noises inside. I had to replace the tires too soon. The steering wheel squeaked and I had to get that fixed twice to fix that problem. They never could fix the windows though..so I have to suffer with that noise. It started with one window and now all of the windows creak including the front window. Now when I press on the accelerator it is making a noise. I NEVER had these probs. with the other toyota makes. I will never buy another Toyota again though.
The quality has decreased dramatically in these cars. They are just thrown together now. Go with Honda or Nissan....read morehide

This is the one safety issue I have is the abs brake pedal fade.
The pedal goes to the floor when I press it. the service says this is normal.
It does not make me feel safe.
Has Toyota addressed this important safety issue?

Is it just me, or are cuurent Toyotas seriously overrated. i bought this car at my wife's insistence even though I liked the Nissan Maxima much better. She's all about resale and the Toyota "bulletproof" mystique. The car is not very driveable, the throttle response merits a recall. Toyota dealers have been schooled in how to ignore my pleas about this, and I rate Toyota dealer service at the rock bottom of all brands. The car is DULL, drives awful, and I've had it in the shop 4 times in a year. I've owned several other Toyotas that were great cars in the past. One more year and I'm going to get that Maxima!...read morehide

This 2005 LE V-6 Camry accelerates as if the brake is on - like something is holding it back. Sometimes it is as if the transmission is "hung up". Then you can feel the transmission shifting into each gear. Dealer said it is due to the new computer system and there is "no problem" - let them drive it in rush hour stop and go traffic or try to accelerate to merge onto interstate! Dealer/Toyota takes no responsibility for terrible design and has no plans to fix it.
Never had a moment's problem with the engine or transmission in my 1994 Camry. Thought I would be a repeat Camry customer for the rest of my life but definitely would NOT buy another Camry nor recommend it to friends and family.
In addition to the poor driving performance, the brakes sometimes make a clunking noise and I am not 100% confident in them.
I give it an overall poor rating because driving performance is more important than appearance or comfort....read morehide

Overall I'm glad I purchased this car. I have had it for around a year and half now (it's a 2004, approx. 34000 kilometres). I traded in a 1998 Corolla, which is the car that got me hooked on Toyotas in the first place.
Here in Canada the Camry LE V6 is (or at least was) the least expensive Japanese 6 cylinder family sedan. Also considered an Accord V6, but found the Camry to be a slightly better value (e.g I was able to get a moonroof and alloys for less than the price of a non-moonroof, plastic wheel covered Accord).
I was somewhat surprised that premium fuel is recommended for the peak performance in the V6s (this wasn't disclosed in my 2004 brochure, and doesn't apply to the Accord V6; I think this point is now footnoted in the 2005 Cdn. brochure). Regular fuel apparently can be used safely based on what it says in the manual, but expect less power (confirmed in seat of the pants testing by me).
Didn't like the OEM tires though (Goodyear Integritys). And I've heard the Bridgestones on some of the newer models are truly dreadful (e.g. in snow, and treadwear rating). Took the opportunity to upgrade to some Dunlop A2 Sports when I had a flat tire, and am glad I did. It's surprising what a difference a good tire can make.
On the negative side, have had a three minor quality problems (1 leaking rear window when going through a high pressure car wash, a poor fitting window trim piece, and the moonroof had to be "re-programmed" by the dealer). In defence of Toyota (and the dealer) all problems were fixed right away, with no hassles. Toyota Canada even had the dealer call me to see if everything else was OK when I complained on a survey Toyota Canada sent me. These quality issues are the reason I have assigned 3 stars for overall satisfaction. Everything has been fine for around a year now.
One final pet peeve -- I don't know why Toyota continues to restrict the availability of the Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) option to the more expensive XLE model. This is an important safety feaure that shouldn't be restricted to the well-off. Volkswagen for instance offers it for a reasonable price in the majority of their lineup. I find Toyota's stance slightly hypocritical given their that they profess to be big believers in social responsibility (e.g. see their 2004 Annual Report, p 13). Come on Toyota, take a leadership position!...read morehide

I bought a CAMRY V6 last year but I regret now after I saw the AVALON 05. AVALON beats CAMRY in every single detail.

I have a 2004 camry V6. I was not satisfied its not good looking from the outside nor the inside. There is not enough space. The tires are cheap. I do not like it at all Thats probably why is not expensive. I wouldnt buy it again.

I'm going to have to take this car to an upholstry shop to try and make more comfortable. Will not buy or recommend this car to others as it is not comfortable for long trips.

Although I have been taking care of the car very carefully by doing all the maintenance on timely basis. The car has transmission-shifting problem when reaching 65,000 miles just after the warranty of transmission expires. I am more disappointed at DealersÂ’ attitude --- they insist Camry never has any problems with transmission for the whole life while the insiders confirm that they do have clients complain about the problems....read morehide

Disappointed. Doesn't handle well in rainy conditions and visibility at night is terrible. Especially if you are used to SUV or pickups.
