After many months of comparison shopping and having been a longtime honda owner..switched to Toyota since the Solara is much larger than Accord...this car is one class act.
Heated Seats ; Auto Climate Control ; Monchromatic Mirrors ; 17" wheels;
airbags all round ; VSC ;ABS
only option I passed on was the Navigation!!

I love my Solara.I purchased my first Solara in June 2005. It's black with peanut butter interior. I fell in love with that car in 1997,however I couldn't afford it at that time,so I waited until I could. I'am a 34 year old female,enjoying my life. My hubby didn't want me to have that car. I guess he thought that it was to hot to trot. Hahahaha. If you all change the visiability of the rearview glass please inform me. I purchased my car right before huricane Katrina and I really haven't had the chance to enjoy it, so therefore, I can't wait until this summer. I got my car about one year ago and I can say that I LOVE it. Before this car, I never really appreciated a nice looking car and keeping it clean. I bought the black on black, so it looks dirty easily, but I really enjoy maintaing the appearance because it is such a nice car. I'VE DRIVEN MANY CARS AND I KNOW HOW TO TAKE CARE OF THEM. I'VE READ THE OTHER REVIEWS AND I FOUND THEM USEFUL BUT AT THE SAME TIME I ALWAYS KEEP IN MIND THAT THERE ARE CAR OWNERS THAT DO NOT MAINTAIN THERE CARS THE RIGHT WAY WHICH WILL CAUSE THE PROBLEMS THAT THEY COMPLAIN ABOUT. ONE OF THE REVIEWS THAT REALLY SURPRISED ME WAS THE ONE THAT MENTIONED THAT THIS CAR IS NOISY. I DON'T KNOW HOW YOU COULD EVER THINK THAT ON THIS CAR ESPECIALLY SINCE TOYOTA AND ITS HIGHER CLASS LEXUS ARE ONE OF THE MOST QUIETIEST CARS IN THE MARKET BASED ON FACTS NOT OPINION. THE SOLARA IS VERY SMOOTH AND RELIABLE. I TRAVEL EVERYDAY ON THE PARKWAY AND TURNPIKE AND THIS CAR REALLY DRIVES NICE. I NEVER HAD A PROBLEM AND THE QUALITY IS VERY GOOD. I'M NOT THAT CRAZY ABOUT THE HANDLING THOUGH, THE SUSPENSION IS VERY LOOSE. THERE IS BODYROLL ON TURNS BUT THIS CAR WAS REALLY MADE FOR LUXURY AND COMFORT AND NOT EXACTLY FOR PERFORMANCE. THE STYLING OF THIS CAR IS GOOD BUT I THINK THE REAR LOOKS AWKWARD I DON'T LIKE THE WAY THE TAILLIGHTS ARE PLACED SO FAR OUT ONTO THE EDGES, OTHER THAN THAT THIS CAR IS VERY NICE....read morehide

HORRIBLE, DANGEROUS rear headrests - obstruct visibility big time

Love solara - just bought my second, a 2006. Runs like a top and incredible manufacturing. Also incredible that its engineers cannot figure out the above defect - risk for blind lane shift accidents far exceeds any rollover risk, imo. Getting in and out of backseat is difficult for larger folks.

Had the same dashboard rattle as Greg Olczak commented on. Dealer also put in insulation, but in the end it was the dash speaker that needed tightening along with a bit of sealant...it fixed the rattle...now all is well.

Purchased the SLE coupe model and am very happy I did so, an awesome car that is powered by a strong 3.3L V6 engine. The comfortable leather interior (heated front seats) and the easy to use gauges (Radio, A/C, etc.) make this automobile more pleasurable to drive. The least favorable aspect of this automobile is the visibility the driver has through the rear window because of the height of the rear end of this vehicle....read morehide

I was involved in an accident 22 days after purchase. It took 4 months to complete the repair due to unavailable replacement parts (2 parts took 4 weeks and 1 part took 12 weeks). I decided to contact Toyota HQ about the parts needed and was told each time I called (once a week) that the part/parts would ship on Friday, which did not happen. Upset of the "run around", I contacted the CEO and was told by his secretary that they stood behind what ever the service tech told me and I must cease calling. Just a word of warning, Toyota does not understand the meaning of customer service....read morehide

You get completely drenched if the window is a crack down during a light rain because it streamlines

The tire got a bubble in it after 9 months and only having 5800 miles on it. They wanted me to pay for this when the tire was obviosly it was defective. The anti-lock brakes come on when driving over speedbumps, railroad tracks, manholes, etc. to the point where I practically lose control of the car. You can't see at all out of the back window. The seatbelt on the passenger back side flaps in the wind and they refuse to fix it. It is so loud that I do not drive with the windows down because it is distractive. When accelerating on highways there is a rotten egg smell. The dealer admits that this is a problem said by other purchasers but there is no fix for it. All in all, not such a great purchase for the price. Toyota is not helpful with service at all to fix such problems....read morehide
