Overall the Highlander proforms well. Sticker said 26 MPG, I expected a lower MPG, but not this low.

I bought a 2005 4cylinders with 3 row seats, it has very smooth ride, and it's very good on the acceleration, I am not racing nor I am trying to pass any BMWs or Porches when I'm driving this SUV, so faster acceleration from a V-6 model is not required. beside a 4 cylinders is great on the mileage, so far I'm average 422 miles per full tank. the advantage of a 4 cylinders beside gas saving is that I don't need it for a smog check in another 4 yrs, then every 2 yrs after, the V-6 engine however, needs a smog check after 2 years from new, and every year after that, plus V-6 needs timing belt change after 60,000 miles where 4 cylinders never needs one because it use timing chain instead. with the gas price going to be 3 dollars per gallon (87 octane) it's not wise to have any car guzzling more fuel than food. by the way I still think gas price is not as pricey as the oil price, remember when oil was at $20 dollars a barrel, and gas was at 1 dollar per gallon, now the latest price of oil is at $61 dollars a barrel, but the gas price is still at $2.46, I have to say that's still cheap in comparison, but not for long....read morehide

With gas prices on the rise I think this is the way to go in a SUV. It is a jewel.

I bought an 05 Highlander 2 month ago. I notice the 4cl is not powerfull enough and not very responsive. The engine works very hard. I am disappointed in the gas milage which is the reason I got the 4 cl, thinking it would be great but definitley not.

Very quiet & smooth idle, very quiet ride. Seats & overall ride are very comfortable. Storage space is very adequate with third row seats folded down, but tight if third row is used. Fuel economy on highway (not freeway) measured at 27 mpg. The power driver's seat can be adjusted very high, but even without that, visibility in all directions (incl over the left & right shoulders) is very good. The low-beam headlights are terrific, the high-beam are brighter of course but not remarkable compared to other cars & trucks.
The third-row option seems to include a higher load limit, so it might be a good idea even if 7 seats are not truly required....read morehide
