Bought the 2006 MDX in October '06, got $7K discount off sticker. Turned out cheaper than the '07 Pilot I compared it with.
Not as soft as the Highlander it replaces. Lots of room, strong performance and handling, but lots of premium gas going in the tank. Great on the highway with loads of room for dogs and packages.
The big discount at year end closed the deal for me. Asked two friends who have them and both liked them. One reminded me that it's a Honda...it won't break. That helped, too.
Tried it in the snow this winter. Loved the 4 wheel lock up. It went through a snow bank easily. Didn't need to shovel....read morehide

I v'e had my MDX for a couple of weeks, and I'm still falling in love with it! After shopping around for months looking for a well rounded luxury SUV and a great deal, we landed on the MDX. We visited the volvo, lexus, bmw, and wv dealers. and although the cars are beautiful, they focused more on the luxury and not enough on practicality. For a family of four, only the MDX offered the 3rd row, which is the space needed to travel along with other passangers AND be comftably seated. Other brands offer more niceities, but want to charge and tax it all. After some hard bargains, and lots of deal makings we got the Premium model for less than $32k! [about $35k with tax and all] and we got some of the options thrown in for free which made this a SUPER deal. Gotta think big. My MDX is amazing. It may not have the dvd or navigation, but in Chicago one's never lost or bored. The performance is Superb; great handling, cornering, breaking, ohh baby...and with 253 Hp with the V6 3.5 v-tech engine! Man, this is the deal! It's almost end of year and these guys [Acura dealers] are desperate to blow them off their lots! You can easily get 7 grand off any model and, if you know what youre doing, maybe more, without sacrificing what the vehicle is alredy equipped with! I luv my MDX and would definitely buy it all over again if I needed a new car. Using it since 2004 and its a really nice car. Service at the dealership is also great!

Went from full size SUV to the MDX after we rented a Ford Escape in Maui. Night and day between the two, but better gas mileage versus towing. I'm just going to have to get a new truck for towing my trailer. Thought this was the best car in it's class, BMW's are overpriced, and the others didn't have folding 3rd sits. The price for the MDX are really being discounted because of the new body style coming out, I didn't really care for the new style so I opt for the price cut. I have a 2002 MDX, and even today it has the best luxury SUV value. I usually dont buy cars when they are early releases, but the MDX was irresistable for the price. I had a Jeep Grand Cherokee before, and this seemed like gods own car in compairison. I love the 7 seat capacity, and the trunk is cavernous with the second row down. My teenage son got into a minor crash with it and a Volvo V70, and had the "Snowplow Effect". I had minor bumper damage, but the Volvo's frame was warped. Talk about inertia!
I've had my fair share of problems with my MDX, luckily all of these things have been covered under the waranty. Around 70000 miles, my A/C stopped getting cold, and was in the shop for a few days. At about 73000 miles, the Check Engine light went on, and it turned out that the "brake master cylinder" was busted, which kept it in the shop for a week. About a month later, the driver seat started to slide around, and the A/C broke again. After getting the A/C "repaired" for the second time, it stopped working a day later. I took it in, and it turned out that a hose was broken. I dont know if this is just the Acura dealer service, or the quality of the car, but Im keeping an eye out for something else to die. Compare with Cadillac SRX, Volvo XC90, and Mercedes-Benz ML320. I would wait for the new MDX with an awesome naturally aspirated 300 HP V6 and SH-AWD!...read morehide

very comfortable, great ride love the truck. However I have a 2002 MDX disappointed with how many things went wrong. Within 1st yr the keyless remote broke, tires went after 15,000 miles and the rear a/c broke within 2nd year. At 44,000 miles the transmission needed to be replaced. Only get 15 mpg thats 220 miles at of the tank. I do love the ride, it is luxory and has everything I wanted for a family of 4. Plenty of leg room and great handling. Very quiet under the hood.
