Dozens of thoughtful small design touches, but you have to study the manual to figure them all out. Rides and handles better than Beemer SUV and with better mileage. Great looking wagon. With all the sound engineering that went into this car, I can't understand how they let the noisy sunroof get by. Otherwise, very quiet. Excellent acceleration and braking....read morehide

Love this car! Fast, elegant, and worth every penny. Incredible steering and handling. Great in the snow.
I don't really like the cup holders which are up high and on the dash.
Low profile so you have to be careful parking when approaching curbs.
Love the steering wheel controls and and the idrive.
This is very sophisticated automobile....read morehide

After over a year of ownership I love this car more than the day I bought it. No problems, still tight and engine feels better than ever. Interior is sporty and not over done. If you can use a cell phone, you can operate I-Drive. Shifts and accelerates very smooth. Solid at high speeds. 100+ mph feels like 55 mph. Exterior styling beautiful, but aggressive. AWD makes this car an animal. Best car purchase I have ever made and worth every penny.....read morehide

Living in Germany, so put it to it's paces averaging 100+ mph on the highway. Very impressed with standard features and options. Wished GPS software was more robust, comparing it with after-market Garmin GPS system. Sold my 1984 325i, after 190,000 miles; even more impressed with the newer 525i. I-Drive is not complicated if you are comfortable with operating a computer. Voice recognition of commands and hands-free Blue-tooth cell phone capabilities great....read morehide

I bought this car to replace my Mercury Marauder; bad call. I'm not all that impressed w/ german cars. Drove a Benz in Africa and wasn't impressed in the least. Maybe I just like horsepower. The service department at my local BMW dealer are morons. Oh well can't get the Merc back, I'll have just drive it for now....read morehide

Was told by two dealerships that this is just the way it is. It is terrible to have to concentrate every time you come to a stop to try and not make the car jerk. Not happy about this.

Car is awesome. I had an X5 and drove this 550i and it is unbeliveable car. I think It will become a part of my car collection for a very long time. Very clever for BMW to create this car, with the perfromance level and style of the 5 Series. I guess its the closest thing you can get to an M5 and still use it as a daily driver around town....read morehide

I bought this car used (12 months old - 15,500 mi.), and drove it from east coast to west coast. It was a great trip. I encountered all kinds of driving conditions including a driving rain storm for 5 hours. The mileage was exceptional - 28.25 mpg. The ride was very comfortable, and the driving was great fun on I-40. I made the trip from central North Carolina to OC, CA in 33 hours (3 days on the road). This is a great car to drive!...read morehide

the car is great, EPA is 28 hwy mpg but i have 33mpg on the trip. yes the i drive is crazy.....but if you can use a computer you can use the idrive. and using the radio is funny... it has 3 ways to turn the station 2 ways to turn it on or of....but not 1 button for vent settings! you have to use the i drive! and yes the 2.5 inline6 is small.... but its just good for everyday driving fun cuz the 6 speed trans is great. the engine is very very quit and the sound it does make is is 100% heaven. i have had only small bugs the back windows stoped after 3/4 mons. and they now make a crunky sound at speeds lower that 50mph.....but overall its so sweet. its easy lease and own. and no cost oil changes...read morehide
