Drove this car July 27 for about an hour in a GM Ride and Drive event for Salespeople, and fell in love with it. It's gorgeous and very refined. Also drove the Ford 500, Honda Accord and Toyota Camry that day as a comparison - the New 2006 Impala is 10X better than the 2005 and left me wondering why anyone could buy those others cars if they actually drove the 2006 Impala - really?! This car has it all! For starts, the standard 240 HP V6 is very quick like a rocket and offers over 30 MPG economy but shifts smooth and evenly - no torque pull at all. The huge 4 wheel ABS bring this car to a safe and smooth stop. The Electric Power steering makes turns and maneuvers a breeze. Great visibility all around with great wide comfortable seats for all 6 passengers. The 260 Watt Pioneer music system with BOSE, XM radio and iPod input gives you unprecedented music and podcasting listening options. Electronic throttle control similar to whats in the new Corvette provides precise engine control and throttle response. A full function traction control system at ALL speeds ensures sure footed response in all road conditions. Standard remote starter activates the Rear Defroster automatically in winter and the A/C in the heat. The standard 17" Alloy wheels look great and help in the awesome ride. In the back, the rear seats fold up and give you a tall vertical storage space where you can store stuff and the back folds down to offer more room than ever. The 41" wide trunk opening allows the widest loads. This year this car gets onStars Advanced Automatic Crash Notification and notifies onStar anytime a potentially severe crash occurs, not when the airbags go off, so that's even better than before. Overall I must confess this car is beautiful and the best Impala if not the best Chevrolet EVER! These are hitting the dealers lots now, so drive one if you can before you buy anything else - at a starting price under $20K with rebate and discount, I cannot find a better car or better buy!
