I made the mistake of purchasing this vehicle on looks and reputation. It's been back to the dealer many times for different reasons. It only has 28,000 miles on it. I actually tried to trade it, but with the economy, no bank is willing to take on the negative equity. Anyways, I love the way my truck looks and the options, but the ride is disgusting. I feel EVERYTHING that I drive over. I thought it was the shocks, but it wasn't. The frame bounces crazy, so there's nothing you can do to fix it. Chevrolet won't do anything because they don't see it as a safety hazard. They will tell you to load it down with like 1000 lbs in the bed and it will ride good... but that will drop your gas mileage. I paid too much money for this truck for it to ride like this. If you contact them, they will tell you that it's a truck, and it's not supposed to ride comfortable. After I pay this truck off, I will NEVER purchase another Chevy vehicle. My wife hates to ride anywhere in my truck because it makes her stomach hurt and gives her a headache.... I blame myself for buying it though, because it rode rough when I test drove it, but I just thought it was the road I drove on......read morehide

the trans is noisey at low speeds

after 25 years of driving ford trucks i bought this one with some trepidation. my current ford f-150 has 224,000 miles on it and is going strong. when the company i worked for was bought by GM I was able to get a huge dicount on this truck. so i bought it. for a full sized truck, the ride can't be beat. MUCH smoother than dodge (ugh!) or ford. gas mileage much better than either as well. recently had it in serious snow/mud while hunting off road. handled and performed very well. stereo really kicks butt. i never thought i would use the onstart, but i was wrong. its a nice feature.
since this my first chevy truck i am holding out on how well it will hold up over time. this truck has all the options which concerns me some. more gadgets mean more things that could go wrong. so far so good. i won't have the complete answer for .... oh..... another 10 years or so.
this truck gets the acid test this weekend on a planned elk hunting trip deep into the mountains of CO and WAY WAY off road. my ford has been in there many times. it will be a good benchmark for the chevy....read morehide

I have owned several models of trucks and I am convinced that the Chevy and or GMC is the most comfortable and affordable truck on the market. It gets the best fuel mileage for other standard trucks. The ride that it provides is bar none the best out of all the other trucks. I find it so comfortable that I take it on vacation....read morehide

This is my first truck and first V6, so I am still adjusting to everything. Yet I feel as though the V6 is trying hard to haul that metal. The brakes began making some soft hisses in the first days that is concerning. I wish I had the power windows and locks and center console. Overall I enjoy the drive. Chevy needs to work on that interior. Perhaps its leather or nothing. The ride is a little bouncy on the highway....read morehide

This is a solid vehicle, not a thing wrong with it. Could the interior have a more high quality look to it? Sure. Could the General spend a little more on a speaker system? Sure.
It's when you hit the road, set the cruise control, adjust the 6-way driver seat, set the mirrors and realize that Chevy trucks have the most big carlike ride of all. Like the 60's and 70's big cars. (I wonder if GM could lower the chassis and change the body on these. A full size car line might materialize overnight). It is a truck. It reminds you on rough pavement.
I have noticed the extended cab on Chevrolets have more room than Ford extended cabs. With the rear seat up or down. Lots of storage room behind the front seat. Real people can actually ride in the back of the cab. Have to think ahead to load boxes in the rear cab. The extended cab doors open from the middle after opening the front doors first. Can't complain about the standard box. At six and a half feet long with the tailgate closed. It wil haul about anything you have around the house. Get a bedliner. Cargo slides along the ribbed flooring quite easily and does not damage the inside of the box.
And the powetrain. Mine has the 5.3 Vortec motor and a four speed automatic. A light duty trailering package was built in at the factory, in Fort Wayne, for this extended cab 1500. No four wheel drive. I just don't think it's that useful for unbanfolk. This has a really good traction control system.
We traded a minivan for this Chevy and have noticed already that overall mileage is the same as our van was in urban driving.
To sum it up, I can see why these vehicles sell in the face of three dollar a gallon gasoline. Very well made, a lot of features for the buck....read morehide

very comfortable to drive. handles great. plenty of power. breaking is excellent. I have a 2005 LS extended cab that I bought in June 2005. I have had absolutely no problems. Only draw back, you think with today's technology that they would put a CD player in that would play CDRs. Mine only plays some of them some of the time. Other than that, this is a great vehicle. My wife has a 2005 LS Impala that is just as nice. I've always loved GM products and here's two reasons why....read morehide

I purchased my truck in November of 05 and before that I had another
truck for 10 years and this is the first full size truck I've bought in over
15 years. I plan on keeping this one for quite some time because it
handles good and with the way gas is going up my V-6 is great for the
full size truck and it will serve all my purposes and more. If I were to get any other truck it will have to be Silverado LS and this is my truck.
I can get more into this truck than I could my old truck and haul more
than my old truck, but don't get me wrong my old truck was ok but it
was just to small and it was time for it to grow up and it grew into my
2006 Chevy Silverado LS...read morehide

I love this vechicle. I moved from a Ford Explorer to this pickup and have been very happy ever since. I get better mileage in this pickup then I did in the Explorer. Chevy did a great job with this pickup. Looks and performance are all great. Thanks Chevy.
