Purchased As New
I have over 42,000 on it with no major breakdowns. the Transmission slips every once and a while causing concern, but has not broke down as of yet. Although the engine is one of the best GM has made for a truck, it may be time to replace with the I5. The truck is perfect it its ability; only draw back is if you want to put three or more adults inside. Pricing for the truck, which does not come with many amenities, is a little high. There's no need for it to be over 15-16K brand new unless it is a 4WD model. Although I contemplate trading in for a 4 door Colorado, I do not mind keeping it for another 10 years if it lasts....read morehide

At 10,000 miles the silverado runs like expected for a still-new truck. The ride is what you would expect for a truck, the brakes work well and the suspension is quiet. Since the LS is only one step above the W/T, the amenities are a bit lackluster. I did not get creature comforts such as power locks and windows, a fold-down center consol or air conditioned glove box, but did get cruise control, a/c and a GM CD player. The speakers that accompany the radio are a real bummer. I do listen to the radio loud at times and the speakers are not up to the task. The standard automatic lights are a nice treat and the heat and a/c work well. The engine runs smooth at idle but there is a distinctive knocking noise in reverse. At the dealership, the mechanics took time to review the problem and even went on a drive so I could highlight the problem. GM service is great at my dealership however a bit pricey. No knock with mechanic. The rear locking differental works well and is invaluable in snowy conditions without 4WD. The 4.3L V6 performs well for the...read morehide

I love this truck inside and out. Chevy really knows what the customer wants when it comes to trucks. I recommend this truck to everyone.

I bought this truck in late December of 2005. I probably would have gotten the 4.3, but the 4.8 has about the same fuel economy and V-8's are more fun. The small V-8 is just what I expected as far as power is concerned; good, but not shocking. Before I hit 10,000 miles, I upgraded to a single performance muffler with dual exhaust pipes for sound and performance. This improved my gas mileage by about two or three miles per gallon. This does not seem like much unless you to drive a truck that costs over 75 dollars to fill the tank.
Overall I am very happy with this truck. It has a unique, mean looking front-end and really slick-looking tail lights. I occasionally tow a loaded covered trailer and, even though you can tell its there, it pulls it without a problem....read morehide

I have a 2005 Silervado W/t with tne V8 and it has 102,000 miles on it, it stillruns great. The only bad thing about the truck is the bumper supprt is not really that strong. A lady with a late 90's buick regal back into the bumper (not hard ) and bent the support, other than that the truck is great for the money. OH yea for the small V8 it can tow a decent amount but it also has good gas mileage....read morehide

Bought truck and next day noticed that one side of truck was 1.5 inches higher than the other took it to dealer and they did nothing they told me thats just the way the truck is. So I called GM direct and they told me the same thing, that they couldnt do anything that the truck was within manufacturers specs. So I took it further and filed a complaint with the BBB and Dept of Consumer Affairs and still GM didnt want to help. Well, after all the hearings and arbitrations both Depts ruled in my favor and ordered GM to fix problem (note: none of the GM technicians could find the problem with the truck being uneven) it wasnt until the BBB sent out an independent Auto Tech found the problem (found that front springs were not even in length). So to all the people thinking about buying this truck or a GM product in general take it from me, once you drive one of their vehicles off the lot, youre on your own, they dont care about you! So, as soon as the truck was fixed I got rid of it and bought a Toyota!...read morehide
