This is a roomy, comfortable car. Love the interior and reminders to turn off lights. Love how the seats fold down flat and have a mini pick up.
Engine is quiet and peppy; very smooth.

Talking from someone up here in the north where we actually know what its like to get deep snow and need the 4X4. This SUV has the power to plow through a lot, despite what other southern state reviews have said. Try driving through 15 inches of snow then we will talk. Has the class in my Limited version but still keeps the sporty side, my 2004 version is great and I have had no major issues with it in the now 4 years I have had it....read morehide

I have a 2003 escape. My husband and I bought it when we found out we were having twins. The back seat is big enough for two car seats. We have driven it everywhere. We drove it across the country from California to South Carolina and even drove it through mud, dirt, snow, and rain.

My 2006 V6 Escape XLT has a mere 5500 miles and the engine is being replaced!!! The motor overheated for no reason and I am concerned that I will problems forever. I regret ever buying this car and would give anything to be able to trade it in for a Toyota. I thought I was doing myself a favor by saving the money with the Ford but I couldn't have been more wrong. I have received nothing but headaches with Mike Naughton Ford in Denver, CO. I don't wish it upon my worst enemy to have to deal with this garbage SUV. Do yourself a favor and bypass some anguish by NOT buying an Escape....read morehide

Lots of snow and ice here in Manitoba. My wife just loves her car. The only draw back is if something gets spilled on the shifter, then after a while the button on the shifter handle jams. Other than that, a good riding small SUV

this car is nice for going on a small trip.not so good for a family. the seats are cloth and in the summer time they tend to get very hot.when my child spills something it leaves a big smelly stench.the leather seats get to hot in the summer and too cold in the winter.if you spill the leather wrinkels and laves an awful stench for days.the storage system is nice.if your going through snow that dosen't stop escape it gose through the snow like a saw cutting butter.i am very dissapionted with it seats.but i am very happy with it's performance through snow.
i recomend escape 4 out of 5 stars.........read morehide

Traded our '98 Ford Taurus with 160,000 miles for an Escape. I was a bit reluctant to buy an SUV but I couldn't be happier. It handles great, is comfortable on the highway, responsive engine, and the interior is much better than what I expected from Ford. The cargo area is great, especially when the seats are folded down. The tires leave something to be desired and will be switching to Goodyear Fortera Silent Armor tires when these wear out....read morehide

I just trade off my wifes '05 for a'07 freestyle.. She loved the escape but it road too rough for me and I drive an F-150. For a 4 cyl. the gas station wasn't passed by often enough. Would get little rattles inside from the trim pieces. She wanted another one with a few more nicey things like sun roof. Could not see paying all that money for something that is exactly the same inside and out. Finely got her on the freestyle path which rides great , more room and all the bells and whistles for not a whole lotmore than a comparable escape. I still like fords even after having 3 toyotas, and 5 GM products. I think toyotas are about the best but trying to keep it american made by americans and for americans not by americans for japanese or korean etc....read morehide

I have read the other reviews regarding the Escape with some amusing me greatly. When someone in Texas complains about the 4x4 system I have to laugh.Today where I live,we had 16 Inches of snow fall in 12 hours and this thing sliced through the snow like a hot knife through butter. The vehicle is nice and roomy (I have a 4 and a 5 year old) and my wife could'nt feel safer driving. As for the fuel economy what do people expect???A full time 4 wheel drive gas effecient vehicle??You should know what you're buying...vehicles of this type are not note for their fuel efficiency. The vehicle looks sharp and in my humble opinion is one of the nicer looking SUVs out there.
I have had my 06 Escape since March 06 and have had ZERO problems.I really couldnt be happier with the purchase.
I would reccomend this vehicle to anyone looking to go the route of a smaller SUV and bear in mind this is coming from someone who is driving his first American vehicle in a decade.I too fell in love with the imports, however I firmly believe that Ford took a huge step in the right direction with the Escape....read morehide

My 2001 Ford Escape XLT began to miss and act as if it were going to stall, so I took it in to have the plugs replaced. To my surprise, it cost $184 dollars, and the truck is still missing just as bad, if not worse. According to another mechanic who checked it, one of the plugs was not installed properly. In order to install new plugs, you have to take the whole engine apart, basically (removing manifold, replacing gaskets, disconnecting hoses and wires), so it takes up to three hours, and if it is not done perfectly, you will have another major expense ahead of you. This is simply stupid engineering, which Ford is becoming famous for lately, according to the complaints I've seen on the Internet....read morehide
