Purchased As Used
The civic is a great car, but, there are some other problems that these other guys have not put on this website.my first problem was, water pump, and the power sterring belt and tensionor. This problem actually happened twice. There was one time when i had to disconnect my battery......and when i put it back together there was an issue with the radio code,.....my car did not come with any books,i called honda and they told me that they could not find any number for my radio....so i had to go and buy a radio from best buy to take its place...big bummer......but overall,if you decide to go with this car....make sure you have all of your paper work for any kind of problem...read morehide

Purchased As New
I absolutely love my car. I bought it new it is now 2009 it has almost 60,000 miles on it and I still love it, I still think of it as my new car. I drive 1 hour each way to work and it is fab!!! I have only had one small problem with the visor and it was fixed under warranty. I WILL buy a Honda vehicle again and suggest to others to do the same. Best car I have ever owned and I have had my share of cars....read morehide

Be aware. One you are out the door with your new Honda they will not care about you any more. I had a 97 Dodge Neon with 120k mile blowing oil that had more power then this 06 Civic EX. Dealer said it would pick up power after break-in (500 miles). After the 500 mile I took it back and they said wait till 1000, after 1000 they said 3000, after 3000 they said 5000. (you get the point) It over 10k now and it still lacks what a decent 4 cylinder should have. Thinking it just might be me I have had a friend drive it that Owens a 1986 Toyota Corolla. When he got back from his little test drive he looked at me and said Im sorry, that thing stinks. I have had a mechanic from a certified Honda shop (not a dealer) look at it and drive it. His statement was that it lacks power for that engine also. He also added that the shifting was really bad. Oh, little that thing Honda states about their cars holding there value it bologna. Within the first week or two I tried to trade this thing back to Honda. At that time would have purchased another car from then just to get out of this thing but they (Honda) offered me less then any other auto maker did for this thing. Guess that goes to show that Honda dont like there car ether. I continue about every other week to see what the value is and it drops like a rock. So knowing that I am stuck with this thing until I can afford to get ride of it so I figured I will see what can be done with sacrificing the warranty to get some power added to it. No two Honda Dealer will tell me the same thing. If one says something can be done the other says it will VOID the warranty. I have written Honda numerous letters and have not had any response back. The only feed back I have got from Honda has been the Sales manager of the dealer where I purchased the car from when he found I have talked a few people out of buying cars from then and maybe even talked them into a different makers auto. I will go out of my way to tell anyone how Honda shown no interest in anything once the car was out the door. So, if you like you Honda, I am happy for you. If you dont own one, I recommend just about any thing else but a Honda!...read morehide

I have had my two door civic for about a year and a half. It is a great car but my one regret was adding the moonroof as an option. I am tall about 6ft, and when I test drove the car I did in a model without the moonroof. I diden't even notice the issue of head space until a month later when the cold weather hit and I was wearing a jacket. Normally I like to sit up when I drive but because you loose about two inches with the moonroof I have forced to slowtch. If I could trade it in for a Honda Accord Coupe without a moonroof I would, but the price for this car and my income was enough. I can't wait for the lease to be up, my next car will still be a honda just with a good test drive first. Also there is a rattleing noise in the back seat, and I have tried to find it and cant. I took it to Honda and they coulden't either. My assumption is the glass in the back is loose and I relize that because I only hear this sound in the cold weather, when the glass retracts and has space to rattle in its socket. During warmer months the car is a dream to drive. Lastely moonroof has a draft. I would suggest this car 100% without the moonroof....read morehide

The car is fine except for terrible reliability issues:
New A/C compressor at 5000 miles.
Visit two dealerships to address coolant loss.
Two visits to address leaking power steering pump.
The car still leaks power steering fluid, even after two trips to address the problem. The car is also subject to an airbag sensor recall.
Time to move up to a much more reliable Yugo!...read morehide

I recently bought a 2006 Civic EX a few months ago. I've had many instances when the car would not start properly. This problem is very unpredicatble. When I took it to the dealer, they said they could not find anything wrong but they gave me an ECM update to make sure the car was reading that it was moving. This has not helped. I did not buy a new car to have problems like this! If this is not resolved, I will never buy a honda again. I would not recommend this car to anyone....read morehide

I have a 2006 civic EX and it will not start properly. I've seen other reviews where people have been complaining about the same issue. The problem is very unpredictable and when I took it in for service, they said they can't really find anything wrong. They adjusted the system because they thought the problem might be that the car did not realize it was runnning but that hasn't helped. Need to take it back again. If this problem is not resolved, will never buy another honda again....read morehide

I drove a 2002 Civic EX Coupe for 2.5yrs and I was very happy with my car. However, once I saw the new design I had to have it. I got my 2006 Civic EX Coupe in Nov 2005 and I will only compare it with my previous Honda because it is only fair. I have to agree about the rattling noises. The come and go and I have taken mine in a couple of time for parts to be replaced, something that I never had to do with my 2002. I get more power out of the 2006 than what the 2002 ever had although the 2002 seemed a bit more stable on the road. I stop noticing the wind noise after a while because I usually have my stereo on (which is better than the one on the 2002). In regards to comfort, I believe the 2002 had more back seat space (I rode my back in the back seat several times). In short trips, the 2006 feels more comfortable, but in longer trips the 2002 was easier to cope with. I had a Pearl Blue Civic and now I have a Galactic Grey one; both those cars turn heads. I get better mileage per gallon of gas than what i got with the 2002; though not as advertised it is still pretty good. The dashboard is the best I've ever seen and the telescopic steering wheel is a perk! I miss my 2002, but I am very happy with my 2006....read morehide

I love this car and have had a 2006 Civic EX for just over a year now and I still really like it...
Unfortunately, my foglights are cracked and broken now due to gravel on the roads and they are expensive to replace. This happened only a few weeks after purchasing. (January 2006)
And I also had that high pitched wind coming in right about ear level on the drivers side, even cranking up the stereo didn't cover the noise. It was so annoying, especially for a brand new car! Finally I took a Honda Mgr out for a ride and he noticed it so had his service guys stuff foam material in the door rim and that was the end of that.
I just wish Honda would replace my foglights...free of charge...wouldn't that be nice....read morehide

Honda's are always a good bet. Best car I ever owned was a Honda. I was more excited about this Civic than an Acura TSX! In fact, my lease is up on my 3 series and this was my pick! Gas mileage, reliability, very smooth look, great price...Can't beat it!
