This is my first SUV after only ever driving small 2 door cars. I absolutely LOVE this car! I bought it a certified pre-owned 2006 CR-V LX, and find it to be the most comfortable car I have ever owned. It gets great gas mileage, and has been a lot of fun to drive so far. The price was more than fair, and the dealership threw in a lot of extras like maintenance and LoJack for no extra cost. It's my first Honda and I am a total fan....read morehide

I purchased my 2006 CRV because of it's reputation and style but I am disappointed with the rough ride and how easily the interior scuffs. It easily fits my two large dogs in the cargo area and they enjoy the ride.

I've had a chance to test ride all the 4-cylinder SUV from Toyota, Mazda, Nissan and Ford, and quite frankly I liked it the most was the Honda 2006 CR-V EX 4x4. I did'nt really like the new model 2007, from a distance it looks like the Acura RDX to me, so I went and buy the more distinctive styling 2006 model. I heard complaints about the road noise but what SUV don't have road noise, even the $50,000 Lexus RX350 has road noise too. If you want super quiet ride on the road don't spend your money on SUV go for a sedan or small passenger car instead. But if you purchased any SUV already not only the CR-V, don't go for their stocked tires, make a deal with the dealers to change the tires to MIchelin brand and I guarantee you the road noise will be cut down to a very low and acceptable level.That's what I got with the CR-V, and the Michelin tires had immediate impact on the noise, and also they make your ride more comfortable. And for the power of the car I felt it has ample acceleration to get me merged with traffic on the free way, the car has good visibility for all corners, and it's easy to maneauvre even my 16 year old daughter loves to drive it. The interior of the car is well design and materials quality is acceptable, don't expect too much with a $25,000 SUV 4x4, you want upscale materials go for Lexus or BMW and you ended up paying ten of thousands dollar more. Go and compare the cr-v with the rav4 or the hyundai tucson and you will see what i mean. And for the whinings about lack of the cr-v power, what do you expect from a 4-cylinder engine? Its 156 horse-power is enough to run air-conditioning with 5 people in the car, and has a tow- hitch of 1500 lbs at the back. I don't know what else do people want from a 4-cylinder? Want more power go for V-6 or twin turbo charged engine then you'll end up paying thousands more at the year end for your gasoline and maintenance bills!...read morehide

Purchased- September 2006; Fuel consumption- not so good, about 6-7 km/L. We decided to buy a brand new Honda CRV because the Rav4 was just too expensive. We figured it would still be a better buy than the other brands in the market, in terms of price, performance and resale value. I had a Honda Civic in the past and was quite happy with its performance so I thought any Honda vehicle I buy will be just as good. I was appalled when after 5000+km, i heard some loud squeaking sounds. When I brought it to the Honda service center, they told me both shock absorbers need to be replaced. I was shocked! I live in the city so I don't do any out-of-town trips, no rough roads. Of course they replaced it (after a week) but it shouldn't even happen in the first place. I hate to say this to Rav4 lovers but I tried out both models new and old of these cars and I hated the tinny/plastic feel of the RAV4 like the manufacturers had come up with this rad design and then they gave it an interior of mutton dressed as lamb. SOmethings didnt add up with the exterior glamour of the RAV4, its interior and its price. It seemed the RAv4 didnt come near in comparison when I first drove my CRV, the seats in my (now) CRV were very comfortable - I found it very easy to drive and for whatever reason didnt feel as nervous driving the CRV as opposed to the RAV4 - in other words the shortness and height of the RAV4 while it affords more view capacity - I felt unsafe in it, the CRV was snug and it was like me and my black beauty were meant to be together. I love the quirky design of the CRV's interior and where the gears and hand brake are located - their cabin trays and loads of space to put things - the interior design of the CRV far excedes that of RAV4. Its performance is probably the same but CRV feels less Tinny. The CRV designers have been imaginative - with their interior, RAV4 seemed like any other new vehicle trying to make a killing by using the cheapest materials possible and making them look expensive - I feel consumers of certain makes of cars are deceiving - Honda CRV I have found - do not - it is what it is a brilliant car....read morehide

Our first SUV. I've had much luck with my 95 Honda Civic so I felt some brand loyalty. I am a little disappointed with the CRV - it is not the smoothest ride, loud road noise, and the seats aren't very comfortable. We've been having a recurrent problem with a burning smell from the passenger rear, which I've had checked out twice. They claimed to have fixed the problem (warped rotors) but the smell is still there. We've been thinking about trading it in for a Prius but we have come to rely on the roominess. It is the perfect size car for us. I just don't have a strong sense that it will be reliable for years to come. Would be nice if the gas mileage was better (avg. 25-26 mpg)....read morehide

I have had the CRV for just over a year and live in the mountains of BC. Have taken road trips fully loaded with people and gear in tough terrain over thousands of miles and NEVER had problem with the power. I suspect people need to learn how to drive. Awesome vehicle, excellent gas mileage, great handling including icy roads. Lots of space and comfortable. The only drawback is the noisier than average ride, but not a big issue, great value for the money, love it and I am not a car salesman, but am an experienced driver who has driven many different vehicles....read morehide

I purchased this vehicle in July of 2006 -- got A tafetta-white, Special Edition CRV on the very last shipment of the 06's. I test drove similar CRVs few times before I bought this one.
The VERY first thing I did was drive it straight to a local tire shop and have them put on a high-quality (low noise) set of all season tires, which improved the road noise considerably -- especially around 35-45 mph, but it did not eliminate it. The dealership was kind enough to buy back the stock tires for $39/each.
It has driver, passenger, and side curtain airbags, for a total of 6. You sit higher off the road and have a more commanding driver position (read: WAY better visibility), which is why I traded my Saturn wagon. It's easier to get in and out of for this 6 footer, and has a bunch more headroom than any Toyota. I ha(low noise) set of all-season tires. This improved the road noise cove a long torso with shorter legs. The headroom issue alone was why I couldn't consider a toyota Product. Even with a Sunroof, the Honda has more than enough.
The Mileage has been consistently in the 24-26 range for non-highway driving. You can get 28-30 if you're highway driving at or under 65 mph in favorable conditions -- closer to 26 at 75+ mph. I feel this is very reasonable for a vehicle with all-wheel drive. The 5 speed automatic aids in this improved mileage. For a 4 cylinder, it's very peppy -- though not overly powerful, and the 5 speed automatic is silky-smooth compared to some others.
Many magazine reviews comment about how ugly the Heat & A/C controls are. I haven't seemed to mind them -- though I tend to error on the side of utility instead of looks. I do wish it was available with NAV -- I would have paid for that option.
The rear storage area has TONS of space, partially to having the spare tire mounted on the rear gate, and the rear seats can fold flat to haul oversize items. The picnic table is a nice gimmick. It's neat that honda decided to make something useful out of what covers the under-carpet rear storage space. The cup-holders are much better than the prior generation CRV, because they are deeper and meant to hold a variety of cup-sizes.
A gripe about XM Radio: Some Honda models have all of the XM hardware preinstalled, others are "XM Ready". This means the radio is designed to accept an XM signal, but all of the HARDWARE is not installed. For that, you have to pay the dealership $300-$500.
Overall, the fit-and finish is much better than any car I've owned. I traded in my worn-out '95 Saturn with 207,000 miles and expect to get at least that many miles with this new CRV. My father-in-law's 91 Accord has 450,000 miles and is still running STRONG. The reliability of Honda products has always been a strong point.

I actually drove three hours to get my new 2006 Honda CRV SE, because that was the only dealer that had any left. Completely sold out in the NY area. I prefer the looks and room over the 2007 model, which in my opinion is more car-like. I have had this vehicle for about a month now. Good ride, good mileage for an SUV. I am getting 23mpg city, up to 27 hwy with only 725 miles on it. Alot of standard features, good pick up for a 4cylinder engine. There is alot of road noise, but this is definately due to the BFG Dueller tires. You can hear the noise vary on different road surfaces. The tires also contribute to poor wet traction, and a rough ride. In visiting some of the Honda forums, as well as tire sites, this is a known problem with these OEM tires. Plan on replacing them soon. Other then that, a good vehicle for the money, many standard features for no extra money, such as traction control, vehicle stability control, full size spare, moon roof, side airbags, etc....read morehide
