The platform of this car is from the Audi A-3. I drove both, and this car is a bargain for it's features and performance. Actually, I had ordered an A-3 in base form last year(then cancelled it), but decided to wait for the new Rabbit because I heard that it had much the same feel. I saved $10,000. So what, I don't have the Audi "prestige", but this car is built in Wolfsburg Germany and has many of the same parts and craftsmanship. Call me cheap, but all of you thinking you must drive a (boring) Corolla or Focus for commuting because you only want to spend about $15K, LOOK at this VW closely and drive it! I find it the PERFECT commute car, and it's unique styling isn't confused with all the other "edgy" styled imports that look like chopped-off bricks! It's heavy for it's size too, and has many saftely features that are extra on most other cars this size and price. I am thoroughly happy, and got mine with a 5sp manual transmission which is the only way to drive! This is one car I will keep! Also, there are a lot of VW parts available for customization...wheels, body kits, racks, tint etc....read morehide

This was my first time ever buying a car for myself, so after hours of visiting dealerships, this car caught my attention. The size is perfect, for being small, theres tons of room on the inside for 5 people (4-dr), but the room in the hatch is limited (since it doesnt have a trunk). The only thing I had trouble with was the controls - it took me a while to figure out how to use the cruse control, and the wiper fucntions for the front and the back windows. But what I absoloutely love is the power. I had driven a Civic before, but with the Triptronic and the sport functions on the rabbit, wow, my bunny really runs! haha I really recommend this car if you want something small, and if you want soemthing with a "kick". Btw, the mpg on my car varies from 28-33 mpg, its kinda lame, but its better than getting 18 mpg!...read morehide

Wow this car is Awesome... i wanted to get the Honda Fit first but then I saw this car and after the test run... well lets say i was love at first sight!!!! I mean the power kicks in faster than the Fit and the car looks sexier then the fit. Come on optional sun roof, diff -rims, etc.... to many extras to detailed.
You have to see it in person to be able to fully understand the true beauty about the rabbit. You must give it a try feel the power....read morehide

The car really handling great, when you on high speed you could really feel the stayblize and the acceleration. 150hp rabbit really really outrun the competition. the seats are little too hard, and only power chair at driver side. but hey man, rabbit is the car that you could get the most out of it.

My wife and I tested this versus a Beetle the Jetta was out of our price range. We were fans of the Beetle from the outside, but once we tested it it was surprisingly cramped and not as cute inside.
Once we got in what turned out to be our Rabbit, we knew this was the right car. The turning radius was even better than the Mercedes 190E we were trading in, and driving and braking were both dynamite. Sometimes in a German-built car (this is one of the few VWs available in the U.S. and still built in Germany) the ride is good but bumps make for a boxy ride. That's not the case in this car. You experience the very best in German engineering, rivaling VW's pricier models and certainly the rides of other German brands: BMW, Mercedes, etc.
Inside and out, picture a smaller version of the Toureg obviously with better fuel economy. I wouldn't say it lives up to 22 MPG city, but it's close. I love that even before adjusting seat height, you have great visibility and really are up higher than comparable models from other brands, ie Honda and Toyota. The car is incredibly zippy. Our residential speed limit is 30-35 and the car jumps to 40+, so you need to watch your foot. Same with highway driving; the speed limit here is 60-65 and it will do 75+ easily. Part of the problem here, if you could call it that, is that the cabin is extremely quiet at all speeds.
Our color is sage green basically a gray and we love it. The construction is the same as what you see in the latest Jetta commercials, where the guys are getting smashed from the front and side. The door panels consist of a steel-enforced zigzag pattern, so if you're hit, the panel will crumple into itself, and not into the car. Also, the coating under the hood is made to fall on the engine in case of a fire, so there's no need to run away from the car or attempt to douse an engine fire with water. Also, in the event of a head-on collision, the engine is made to drop down under the chasis instead of go in to the cabin. The rabbit is extremely well thought out!
All in all, a great small car with a surprisingly large amount of space inside that gets better-than-average gas mileage, and will get you where you need to go quickly....read morehide

Traded in my 03 Jetta for the Rabbit about a month ago. The rabbit has a smoother ride, it's got way more kick, more fun to drive, I love it! It drives like a sports car (the tiptronic, meaning you can switch from automatic transmission to manual, is so cool and great in the mountains) and it rides like an Audi. Seems to get better mileage than the stated 30 hwy, seems more like 34-36. For the price, safety, features, look and design, this car is a steal! Great job VW!...read morehide

I ve had mine for three weeks, iand ts so obvious that the bigger engine really makes an incredible differnce than my 01 golf and 03 jetta. It handles turns pretty well but ive not had a chance to really get it going. Ive an automatic and didnt get a chance at the dealer to try a manual since they only had three on the lot , that were all automatic. However I cant say anything negative about the pick up with triptronic. Compared to the other vws ive had this car is higher in quality. its a shame the jettas and passats have been getting less than glowing reviews, im curious to see how the rabbit stacks up. Its a great car. Its not civic gas milage, but its a lot more fun to drive without being an suv. I dare say its more fun than a cooper s we test drove a few years back. soo much pep...read morehide
