I was originally a fan of BMW 5 and 7 series, but when the body styles evolved to their contemporary form. While re-evaluating the offerings of luxury autos in this class, I stumbled onto the A8 in 2004. While I loved the interior of the BMW 7 series, the Audi seemed to be a better combination of both exterior and interior styling.
I eye-balled the car until finally becoming the owner of a brand new 2007 A8L in August of this year. My A8 was a special order that included both the premium and sport package w/20" wheels, as well as the B&O stereo system.
With 2000 miles under my belt, I know I made the right choice. The A8L road performance is a great balance of sports car handling and luxury styling and comfort. I would've considered an S8 if it had been available in the extended wheel-base....read morehide

I love this car! I've owned lots of BMW's and Mercedes...and I prefer the A8 over either one! Love the Alcantera package and the pop-up navi screen!

All my friends drive the big BMW 7 Series and MB S Classes, I drove a Lexus LS430 and I liked that better than the others (even the newer Benz and Bimmers) But I work for a German company and they want me to drive a German car, so I looked at the usual BMW and MB, BMW was hardly worth mentioning, handled great and had roomy cabin and trunk, thats all. The Benz (S550) topped it in every aspect. Than I went to Audi and drove the A8L. It had the 'Exclusive Interior Package' (Alcantara headlining, better leather, ect.) and the Bang and Olfsen Audio system, THAT had me sold already. So I sat in the back, it had a refridgerator, which I loved, semi-reclining rear seat (not quite Maybach style but definitly comfortable) Driving it was great to, it had a gentle massage which is not needed but a nice touch, the dash was nicely put together. It had confident road manners (this is relatively speaking) it never tries to be a sports car though, which isn't what I was looking for anyways. So I got back and bought the car. The only set back was the $111,000 price tag. I almost went for the 12 cylinder model, but i negotiated with them and brought it down to a (hardly) reasonable $95k. This is an awful lot more than the Buick Enclave my wife drives, but I don't need another outrageous car. I would take this over Lexus, BMW, MB, and Jaguar everytime....read morehide

Sports car performance with luxury sedan interior and exterior AND for less than its competitors. How can this not be the perfect car? It doesn't have the "flash" of the Benz S-class or the BMW 7-series, but that's the beauty of this car! The A8 sneaks up on you with it's humility and then overwhelms you with all it has to offer. All wheel drive, 0-60 in 6ish sec., 6-speed Tiptronic, 40+ inches of rear leg room, 16-way front seats, and just enough technology to keep us gadget gurus happy...nuff said!...read morehide

This car is just wonderful! I am pretty petite yet this car feels just right. The handling is superb. I am glad I bought this one instead of MB. After I drove it I was sold! It feels like you're in a cockpit. There's no shaking or rattling or wind noise at high speeds and you will go fast in no time too. My only concern was the size of this car since I have the A8L which is a bit longer but having park assist took my worries away, I can park anywhere with ease. By far the best in its class. Sometimes I feel like I'm not worthy, test drive one and you'll see what I mean! AUDI deserves the recognition!...read morehide

The 2007 Audi A8L is amazing. From a MSRP of $97,100~$170,000 , it is definetly a car to go for when you are comparing it with the Bimmers and Mercs. In my opinion, the only rival is the Lexus LS460 L, which has a tiny bit more interior luxury features, such as leg rests.
Too bad this car only comes in a few colors though...but still makes head turn when you just drive to the local market....read morehide
