Love this car! I have the teal metallic color which is cool...the car is roomy, gets great mileage (30 mpg city), and hasn't cost me a dime in repairs except for regular maintenance and I bought it new in 2007.
Great value for the money too!

Pros

Front Factory Rotors are lemons, Little road noise.

My car "Rosie" has balls and every time she blows away these rice burners that has the stock rear spoilers on the back and low profile tires that the kids run around in. She has plenty of room hawling band equipment (drum set, baritone sax, tenor sax, sax stands, bass guitar, guitar, guitar stands, two amps, gig bag, mic stand and a mini PA system all at once) and other times when I have to hawl something else besides band equipment. I replaced the factory rotors after they got warped and installed high performance sport rotors and still got them after two years. The customizing is that she got more retro'ed by adding a visor for her windshield, spoke wheels with classic 1950's whitewalls and some flames on her hood and her front fenders just behind the tires shooting out. Her interior got Japanese cherry wood, red steering wheel cover, red dashboard cover to match the wood and black seat covers. Less plastic grey to see. I also like the ipod hookup (no cd's taking up any storage space) and the storage compartment on the dashboard (easy excess for proof of insurance and registration; no more going into the glove compartment)....read morehide

I purchased this vehicle brand new in 2007. At first it was great, it drove nice was quiet. However after 2 years and 40,000 miles I could not wait to get rid of this car. Despite meticulous maintenance things started to fail and mystery rattles began to appear. In total I replaced the front drivers side wheel bearing twice, the front sway bar bushings, the struts were leaking and in need of replacement, the rear window needed replaced shortly after delivery due to a defogger line not working, The shifter interlock broke resulting in the key being stuck in the ignition, The steering column was replaced, the steering intermediate shaft was replaced, The rotors warped due to them being too small for the size of the vehicle, A fuel injector was replaced, and the drive shaft seal began to leak transmission fluid at the transmission and was replaced.

I really wanted to like this car but I found myself not wanting to drive it because of the rattles and poor ride due to the failing suspension components. Even with the 100,000 mile powertrain warranty it was not worth the hassle....read morehide

I replaced my Mini Cooper S with this utility vehicle because it was more practical. I was amazed at the smooth ride. It was so quiet and comfortable on the test drive, I had to have it. There is so much space! You can make the passenger seat flat for more hauling room. Lots of little storage spaces and even grocery nets to keep bags from spilling. This vehicle catches the eye of everyone as I pass by. I love this car. Had it for 2 years now and just love it. Synthetic oil changes are at 7000 and 15000 miles. Indicator tells you when to get the oil changed. Sips fuel. On the way from Ft. Huachuca, AZ, to Indianapolis, IN I got 41mpg! Only rated at 30. This is possibly the greatest car ever made, twenty bucks every couple of weeks to fill the tank and very low maintenance, it looks sharp and very comfortably seats five with enough room for storage. I love that the seats fold down making the storage capacity huge; I hauled a six-foot Christmas tree in it with room for decorations. First new car I have owned. Love it. I have the 5 speed so my acceleration is fine for entrance ramps and pulling into traffic. I have space for hauling stuff which is great for DIY-ers and it has room for 4 adults without being a "soccer-Mom's" van. Love the dark cherry red metallic. Definately fun to drive as for the cup holders, if you can't reach it easy then maybe you won't spill stuff in the car. I drive 70 miles a day to work and back and the gas milage and seat confort is a big plus. I was taught to use side mirrors and not look over my shoulder so the wide side braces are not a problem. I use a small baby spot mirror on the left side to take care of the blind spot problem. But hey, you have blind spots on all cars, my Saturn had one large enough to hold a whole car! I looked at this car for almost two years before I thought about buying it. On business trips I use to ask if they had the HHR for rent.
Surprise..they did. I would drive the car and think what a fun business trip this is...people use to ask me what kind of car is that.

This car is everything that I expected after test driving it while on business trips. I finally bought a black 2007 HHR in December as a Xmas gift to myself. It is fully loaded and the best thing I love about it is the six cd player that is the envy of everybody who gets in my car.

I love this car and the gas mileage is great! I haven't heard any creaks or noises yet. It is a fun car to drive and makes fighting the morning traffic in Honolulu a breeze. Love this car!...read morehide

I love my HHR, this has been a great car for me! I have had my car for a year and half and have put 33,000 miles on it, (I drive alot). I love how much room it has, even my husband likes it, and he is 6 feet 2 inches tall. The drive is smooth and the gas mileage is great. There are a few downsides, I only had the car about 6 months when the rotors needed to be turned, I think this is a manufacturing problem, and, of course, warranty doesn't cover this. Also, the cup holders are in a bad spot, as are the window controls. All in all, I have greatly enjoyed my car, and would purchase again....read morehide

Safe, reliable, good fuel economy

I recently got in an accident in my six month old 2007 HHR. I was hit by a car which ran a redlight at forty mph. All I have to say is that if I were not in such a safe, great car I could have been seriously hurt or even killed. The car did exactly what it was supposed to do, and even the blinkers went on automatically when the airbag came out! I got out of the car with two scratches, and that was it. I could not have asked for a better car to crash!

I loved this car! Hands down the most fun non-sports car I have ever driven! It reacts nicely, and can turn on a dime. Also it was very responsive. I am hoping that my HHR is able to be fixed because it is hands down the best car I have ever owned. I was a little iffy about how the car looked at first, (I thought it looked kind of silly,) but was impressed at the reliability, the saftey, and the price of the car. And I soon got used to how it looked. It fit well in my budget. I would suggest spending a little extra on leather seats though, that's my one regret :) I think it makes a great first car for a teenager, I am starting to see a few pop up at some of the used dealerships....read morehide
