New 07 with 7000 miles, looked under whenever the oil was changed and found that GM chooses not to paint the steering and suspension componets (IE: control arms, FWD driveshafts, steering arms, driveshaft yokes ETC)
GM area service rep inspected my truck and stated that " That is standard equipment on GM's and they will not customize my truck to protect it from rusting"
If you do not mind your new truck rusting "GET YOU A NEW CHEVY"...read morehide

I bought a Z-71 Extended Cab with the 5.3 V8. I kept it for exactly 615 miles before I traded it for a Ford.
I work in the woods and Onstar called multiple times a day to tell me I had a hard hit (setting off the gmeter) and I was "off road" and needed to check to see if they needed to send help.
I took it into the dealer who explained that OnStar could not be physically separated from the vehicle as it was a safety issue.
Throw in the fact the A/C fan on high is louder than the radio on wide open (You literally couldn't even hear the radio), the unbelievable amount of "safety" built into the vehicle such as no OFF posistion of the headlights - it resets back to Auto after each attempt to turn it off - it's spring loaded.
The rear view mirror did not darken suffeciently to drive at night with someone behind you - it wasn't able to remove it from the vehicle and install a manual one as it's tied to the Onstar - see a pattern?
I got a great deal on it new and paid nearly $9,000 less than sticker but I kept it 8 days before trading it off and came out about even on the deal only because I got such a great deal to begin with....read morehide

I just bought this truck traded it for anF-150. I loved that truck and thought that nothing could compare. I was so wrong! Chevy changed there look inside and out, and it looks great! The is smooth it handles great. I love it more than any truck that I've owned.

I am a former Ford truck owner that switched to GM due to quality issues. I had three different F 150's with differential and front suspension issues. Much to my dismay GM is displaying initial quality issues as well. The Power Rack developed a leak at 2000 miles; the warranty replaced it. I have returned to shop four times for tire wear and centered steering wheel issues. I am quickly getting disappointed with the truck. I feel that the manufacturers need to do more Research and Development on their product line, actual rubber on the road before offering them to the public. The leaking Rack is not an isolated incident, the mechanic informed me of several that he had changed prior to my complaint. The consumer is the R&D now since the dawn of super powerful CAD programs that do the R&D on paper then the consumer has to bear the brunt of failed designs with lost time at the shop for faults that could have been isolated before public offering. Gas mileage is poor at best 15 MPG average. This truck is also speed limited to 95 MPH. This could be an issue if passing on a two lane highway or when you are in the middle of no-where and have 500 miles to go and nothing to see but sand. I bought the truck from Jim Clark Chevy in Junction City KS. I got a fair deal from them. The dealer didn't build the truck but I am quickly getting frustrated with service issues. GM needs to fix their shortcomings prior to putting the product up for sale and this can be accomplished if they would put more miles on the vehicles instead of making the consumer do it for them. I purchased this vehicle from my home town; it pains me to think having to drive outside of town to get something that I can depend on. I will give a couple of more months or thousands of miles before I make a final determination. Who knows, maybe I need to buy an import, I want to stay loyal to the big three but I am quickly getting tired of the "Ankle Biting Problems" I feel that if a truck is not built to go more than 30000 highway miles without having the front end replaced 2002 Super Crew, then perhaps the manufacturers need to come up with a better idea....read morehide

Tow a 3000 lbs trailer on a regular basis with no problems. The 170 degree rear doors help facilitate the kiddos getting in and out with the car seat. Exhaust note deep for standard pipes.
