Forget about the space that you are looking for your kids. Buy something good. Since I have this car I prefer to walk with the kids....read morehide

I bought this car in March 2007 ago. Nothing wrong until 3 months ago. I have transmission, gate, lights, brake, and doors problem so far. I don't know how many times I go to dealer to get fix. I should listening to my friends suggestion: Never buy Dodge/Chrysler. I really think I make the biggest mistake in my life. I should buy Sienna or Odyssey. American cars' initial building quality is good, but after a few years later, their quality is poor, I mean very poor. #1 Seller doesn't mean anything....read morehide

I had a 98 Grand Voyager with 117K and on its 2nd tranny. Still the car ran like a charm and very comfortable - it was tired, though, and since we didn't like the boxy 08s we went with the 07. Got a great deal, sight unseen (our dealer had it driven from another). We were disappointed in the seating - flimsy compared to the 98 - thin foam (I can feel the metal framework) and the second row captain's chairs are skimpy seating - I realize they had to sacrifice some plushness to accomplish stow & go but I think they cut too many corners. We immediately drove from NY to Boston and encountered tranny issues (shuddering in shifts from1 to 2 and 2 to 3, and an overall rough ride compared to the 98. Took it to Dealer who performed TSB fix for the tranny yet same issue reappeared the next day (I need to go back). They also don't feel the "rough ride." Overall it is a great van for the money and hopefully the tranny & tire quirks are rectified. Still, I don't expect to keep this one for ten years. Too bad....read morehide

we have a 2000 Caravan (short wheel base) that we bought with about 140,000 miles. first I was afraid about buying a car with that many miles and the valves were a bit noisy, after changing the oil a couple of times (castrol syntec) the noise disappeared.
when I tried to change the transmission fluid I had a problem to get the pan off. obviously it had never been changed, the gasket was completely baked onto the transmission. the filter was clogged with metal dust and dirt, I think that I changed the fluid for the very first time (at 143,000 !!!) I heard that chrysler/ dodge transmissions are not reliable and sometimes fail at less than 60,000 miles. not this one, despite the lack of maintenance.
now the mileage is 153,000 the only problems I have had so far were a blown tire and a dead battery (I was told that it was still the first one (in 2006) so it was really time to change it....
one sliding door can only be opened from outside and sometimes the power locks won't work on some of the doors, but I consider this minor problems. we also have a brand new mitsubishi outlander and i always have to look were the switch for the power locks is, especially in the night i hate it. you have to toggle with a button through several screens if you want to see the engine temperature or the fuel quantity. the dodge shows everything on a nice instrument panel, the layout of switches is almost perfect. what really surprises me is the performance of the engine (3.3 l flex fuel) and the transmission. the van is powerful but still gets a good mileage. i wrote this because i believe that Chrysler/ Dodge does not deserve its bad reputation....read morehide

We have a well equipped 2005 Grand Caravan SXT with the 3.8L V6, Stow'n'Go seating, power sliding doors and liftgate, six disk CD/DVD stereo with rear entertainment center, 4-wheel disc brakes, ABS, traction control, 3-zone auto climate control, sunroof, rear park sensors, power seats, wndows, locks, security system, rear heater+A/C. etc. We already have 74,000 rattle and squeak-free miles on it and it has been one of the best vehicles I've ever owned in 30+ years of driving. Fuel mileage runs 18 MPG city, 21 MPG for my mixed driving commute, and we've hit over 27 MPG on the highway at 65-70MPH with 5 adults onboard.
My driving style is "spirited" to say the least and this van will easily do over 100 MPH if you want it to. The handling is better than many sedans I've owned. It handles curves and off-ramps etremely well for the type of vehicle it is. You can push it hard and it won't complain.... except for the OEM Bridgestone Turanza tires that came with it. They squeal even at slow speeds around corners and the sidewalls fold like a wet papertowel. The lasted 47,000 miles (not bad), but I replaced them with Michelin Hydroedges which improved handling, braking, and snow/rain traction tremendously.
It's pretty quick off the line and loves to cruise.....maybe too much. Chrysler has clearly geared this for fuel economy and once it picks up momentum it just wants to keep on going. When you let your foot up off the gas pedal it doesn't really want to slow down. As a result you find yourself tailgating people at first until you adjust your driving style to leave plenty of room between you and the car in front of you. That brings us to the brakes which are just adequate. I'd like a stronger set of brakes with a firmer pedal feel. They will stop you in a very controlled, straight manner and the ABS functions well when you need it. The front brake pads lasted 52,000 miles and I just replaced the rears pads at 71,000 miles.
The only downside we've found is that the 2nd row Stow'n'Go bucket seats seem to lack enough padding. They can get uncomfortable on long trips for adults, but the kids don't seem to notice because they don't weigh enough to fully compress the seat cushions.
By the time we're ready to buy another this one will likely have about 200,000 miles on it. Based on the 100% reliability we've experienced so far, I have no doubt it will last that long. We're almost half way there already....read morehide

We had a limited Grand Caravan with power sliding door for 10 days while our Honda Odyssey was in the body shop. Let's just say we could not wait to get back in our Odyssey. We did not like anything about the grand caravan. Inside looked cheap, old design, uncomfortable... and bad performance, slugish when trying to accelerate.
I am reading all these positive reviews and wonder if we are taking about the same car... or you guys have never been in a decent car to have a base for comparision.
As far as i am concern please don't waste your money... buy a 5 year old Odyssey or Sienna with 100,000 miles... you will still be a winner as far as reliablility and resale value are concerned....read morehide
