I've had this car for about 2 months now. I've put just ower 2000 miles on it with no problems. I get a combined 35 to 39 mpg mostly highway miles with some city miles. A friend has an '06 model that he is very happy with and my driving that car sold me on the Focus. You see these cars all over England--not so much here in the US. The handling and pep this little car has make it very fun to drive. I look forward to going to work....read morehide

great car for the money, checked out all small cars for price and fuel economy, just kept coming back to the focus hatch, shame they stop making the hatch, but if they changed the 60/40 split it would be more user friendly. With out a doubt the car needs disk all around, why ford did not put this in standard is beyond anyones comperhesion.I enjoy this car very much, just wish I could have gotten a stick, before they stopped making the hatch....read morehide

With these gas prices, car buying is very flawed right now. I believe this car could get 35 highway if gently driven on cruise but as low as 12 city. A 1980's full-size car or sports car could also get 25 highway on cruise so they have not made much improvement in all these years.

I would recommend this car to anyone looking for good value at an affordable price

This is my 3rd Focus. My 2000 ZX3 and 2002 SE-S were good little cars at the time. However, the car has not aged well in light of serious competition in the name of Mazda 3, Civic, Elantra, etc.
The Duratec engine is an improvement over the ZTEC engine found in my 2002 Focus. However it sounds very economical and tractor-like and provides no pleasure from revving it. Clutch is light, steering precise, car is short and easy to maneuver in the city. Ride is comfortable on most surfaces.
However, this 2007 Focus has given me some problems from day one: constant vibration on the steering wheel when driving over 65mph, odd noise coming from the power steering (at all times), odd noise from manual transmission clutch/disk when it's cold outside and the car has not warmed up yet, tons and tons of little noises in the cabin due to poor assembly of plastic panels/parts, cheap metallic noise when shutting doors, too many rough plastics inside, seat cloth is durable but very uncomfortable in long drives, and overall the car is just plain noisy: in acceleration, during highway cruising, on bumpy roads. There is always noise - wind, engine, tires - always!
The ride is comfortable but the suspension is too bouncy, which reduces stability on highway driving. A better compromised could have been reached (ie like in the Mazda 3)
Cabin design is ok but not enough place to put cell phones, cameras, and no 12-volt jack to charge those gadgets. The front center armrest is horrible: little storage space, cheap plastic cover (uncomfortable) and it's too high and too long which prevents comfortable shifting position with the manual transmission.
This is my last Focus and my last Ford. Too bad Ford isn't selling the European Focus in North America. It is a FAR SUPERIOR car and has nothing in common with the outdated Focus sold here. And the "new" 2008 North American Focus is just plain ugly and oddly designed and little improved over the 2007 model... Is Ford completely out of touch with North American buyers? Feels like Ford of America is mocking its small car buyers!...read morehide

This car is absolutely awesome I got it in July of 07 and I drive it everywhere and its great! I dont spend a fortune on gas on a bad day it will cost about 40 bucks to fill it up here in SoCal. The interior is very comfortable my car even has lumbar support which is great if you have a bad lower back like me! The standard sound system is great I can crank that stereo and it sounds like a bose system! lol (well maybe not that close). I dont know what people are talking about with the noise inside the car it's pretty quiet to me! Overall this car looks great, rides awesome and has alot of power. Enough to get me to RCC Norco and back!...read morehide

I had the 2002 focus wagon SE and although it was comfortable, the gas milege was killing me, traded it in at 53,000.00, best thing i can say was i got a good price on the trade toward my 2007 ZX3, and I have never been happier with a car, its fast, fuel efficient, fun to drive and well, i may never go back to wagons. My only concern is that it might be too light to be safe on the ice, i will have to wait and see....read morehide

my car has been in the shop 2 times so far for power steering pump, master cylinder, transmission switch, it has low visibility out the back window (top of car is to low) I drive for a living as a field service tech, so los of miles and I am far from impressed with this car, does not handle well in wet weather, suspension is poor etc etc...read morehide

I bought this car new in December of 2006. In truth, the design has been around since 1999/2000 with a slight freshening in 2005. So far I have put 6000 trouble free miles on the car, and I am hoping that it will age well. My favorite thing about the vehicle is its useful 3-door hatchback body style, a rarity in the class, which provides plenty of cargo room. I rarely use the rear seat, but it is big enough for 2 adults to sit comfortably for a few hours. The main reason I bought the car was its impressive handling abilities for what is essentially a $14-15k vehicle. The $2500 discount by Ford was a nice bonus. I routinely get 28-29 mpg in stop-and-go driving and 34 with 75% highway driving. I don't drive on the highway that much, although it can easily keep up in fifth gear and is fairly stable at speed for such a narrow car. My main gripe at this point is its unimpressive interior trim (most noticeably a panel gap) which I had the dealer take a look at and supposedly "fix"; I eventually had to fix it myself since the mechanics put the parts back together the wrong way. Not good. Other than that, the car has been a joy to drive with wonderful steering feel. (I have the 5-speed--the only way to go in my opinion.) If I were looking at a sedan, I would find it hard to recommend the Focus over the Mazda3 or Civic unless you have to have a new car and want to buy American, although the car is made in Mexico....read morehide
