I used to have a Honda CRX Si and I was very excited to find this car was out again basically as the same car in a sedan form (yeah, 2 doors exist too, but I am a mom). It's very stiff and the RPMs are high, but it is fun to drive even with the cops around. Oh yes, without looking you can be going waaaay too fast, but you can still have a lot of fun around town. It handles well and is extremely responsive.
I love cars. I'm a female that's almost 50 years old that has owned several Porsches too. This car is built for 20 to 30 year guys, but who cares. Let it rip! The roar as the RPMs go up is great!
The drawbacks are the black, cheap cloth interior that Hondas are known for -all of the money goes to the engine. It has a large truck, but it's difficult to lower back seat and really carry large things. It's a second commuter car if you are not a car buff that gets great gas mileage.
Have fun!...read morehide

Purchased As New
Our family bought a 2007 civic si sedan and coupe. I have a habanero red sedan and my son has a black coupe. The cars performed as advertised. We had issues with the 3rd gear after about 15K miles and the dealer fix the problem on the sedan. Now I feel like a have a brand new car at 30K miles. Fortunately, my tires lasted as long because the dealer told me that the tires will last between 15 to 20K miles. The tires on my son's 2007 civic si coupe lasted only 17K miles. Between the sedan and coupe, the sedan drives much easier....read morehide

The EX model is well equiped and sporty. I wish leather was availiable to me at the time, but the cloth seats are not too bad. I used a piece of self sealing pipe insulation (Black) to protect my knee from hitting the parking break. If Honda does not move the parking brake they should look into providing some padding. Other than that, it's one of the best vehicles I have ever owned. I also have an Odessey but the Civic is always fun to drive....read morehide

This is a good looking commuter car if you drive less than 40 mins each way. The car also handles good, and the 17 inche rims gives you a sporty look. The front suspension is very harsh and loud if you hit a bump. The seats keep you inplace if you like to take sharp turns, but if you have a cell phone or anything like that hanging from your belt... you will need to take it off before entering the car. Don't get me wrong the seats provide great support when driving hard, but don't expect confyness if you have a PDA phone or anything like that.
The sounds system can go up to 40, but by the time you hit 20 you will hear distortion. I compared the 4 speaker sounds system with my 03 4runner and the toyota is 3 time better and has no sub-wof like the civic.
The first night I drove my civic, I thought my head lights were not working becasue I couldn't see much, so I had no option but to replace the 55 watt bulb to a pair of 80 watts and saw some difference. Now, have fun removing the tire and buyng a speal screw driver if you are going to do it your self. Unfortunately everything is so tight under the hood that in order for you to replace the low beam bulb you have to remove the tire and pull down and away the plastic cover so you can get your hands in there to remove two small screws in order for the bulb to come out and then of course you have to put the little screws back on other wise the bulb will fall out of place..... sounds like fun??? I also notice that the tires are very loud on the highway, but a friend of mine had the same problem so he replaced his tires, according to him the ride is a lot more smoother.... but I'm not waisting $$ on a 3 year leased car.... not worth it.
Now that I told you all the bad things, the car is hot looking, it drives well, and you'll be doing 100 mph in 3rd gear in no time.... it is a lot of fun to drive but don't expect good gas mileage if you keep your RPMS over 4 most of time.
Unfortunately Honda did a good job creating an eye catching civic, but when it comes down to business.... the tires are loud on the highway, the radio is weak and you get very little bass from the sub.... so if you are going to be driving with the windows down and trying to listen to some tunes.... you may want to look for a new sounds system.
Let's be realistic, this still a 20k car.... so if you still want to get one, go for a test drive at night and bring a CD with some Hip-pop or high bass songs and you make the decision. If you are buying it and have $$ to modify it.... this is the perfect car for that.
Have fun. Drive safe....read morehide

I've owned 4 other Hondas and I have had more problems with this one than all the others combined. The transmission is very difficult to shift into third gear. Sometimes, after I jam the gear into the third gear slot and let the clutch out, there is a loud grinding noise because it did not actually go into gear. The dealer pretends that there is no problem. There is also a rattle in the ceiling and the cup holder gets so hot that cold drinks get cold in just a few minutes.
Problems aside, this is a very spacious and comfortable car. I'm 6'3" and I can drive with a passenger comfortably seated behind me. The Mazda 3 and the Acura TSX do not have nearly as much passenger space.
The car is fun to drive when you focus on keeping the revs above 3500. It handles like it is on rails. The car has very little torque and is not very responsive during casual driving....read morehide

This is my first brand new car and it's just a dream to drive. It looks so sexy inside and out. The R&D guys at Honda did a really, really cool job in designing this car. It's not super fast but for a stock non-turbo vehicle, it's got more than enough power to thrill you.
Others think that the digital speedometer's too big....I think it serves a purpose by making it easier to keep a good peripheral view of your speed without taking your eyes off the road (although sometimes it just doesn't matter anymore how high it's going) the sound of its engine can really turn you on. So, to answer a tv ad for another car company, YES, my car returns the favor when I turn it on!...read morehide

Great car for a commuter that is still fun to drive. I drive 70 miles each way to work. I started having the third gear grind, but once I drained the overfilled transmission. Then refilled it with Amsoil it has been great since. I now have 22k miles since June. I have since added the fog lamps and hfp suspension. I think the car should have come with the hfp suspension. It is just a little stiffer, and a little lower. The way it handles now seems about right. I was 90% sure I was going to buy a MS3. I even had a deposit on one. Then I drove the GTI, MS3, and Si. I decided on the Si, due to the amount of driving I do. I felt that the Si fit me better. I felt it was more fun to drive. I average 31mpg....read morehide

Just get one and enjoy it!!!I love driving this car in the free way and honda did a good job with the performance when the vtec kicks inn at 6000 rpm you can feel the car put out its power.

I have a silver Si and this car is so much fun it is stupid. It is a no brainer for the money. I get around 26 to 28 miles to the gallon and yank and crank, so that seems about right. The little gizmo to keep the RPM's up is a great idea and i am not sure why people hit the parking brake while driving as i never do!!! I have had no issues with 3rd gear popping out, but i have to make sure i hit 6 straight back, but that is an user issue.
The car will flat out hum on nice open roads and feels totally open with great space inside. The new Accord Coupe felt flat compared to this ride. The coupe is abit tight, but the sedan is just right.
Try not to find what is wrong with this car and you realize how much value you are getting.
For $20,000 + it is the best thing out there. What is up with this wheel bearing recall?
