Purchased As New
I purchased the car new. I will never again buy a new car. I owe more on the car than what it is worth. No resale value. I will have to keep it forever in order no to
loose on it. But it has a lot of the options I wanted and it was stylish. So I guess I'll drive it until the wheels fall
off. High speed wind noise....read morehide

Purchased As New
Bought this car in the first quarter of 2007. Had to take it to the dealer for a leaking seal in a valve a few months afterward.Had it for 2 years and 25k miles now. Took it camping in the mountains, where it handled pretty well for a steap, muddy mess. The AWD gets this thing running really hot if you're not careful though, even if you're driving very slow. Living in central Nevada you expect to be driving long distances. For the most part I've had 19/20 mpg but at times have had up to 27mpg.
The check engine light has come on 2 times now. Both times it was because I did not click the gas cap in all the way when fueling up. Well really only once, because I did it the second time to trick my wife into taking care of, and cleaning her OWN car.
Midway through 2008 the upholstery started to come off from behind the interior doorhandles. Took it to the dealer, where they did not seem to concerned about ever getting it fixed. Considering they've told us multiple times(like others) that the upholstery guy is out.
This vehicle thus far has not been to much of a hassle. Handles great, The only real complaints I have is the upholstery and the tight fit for people in the backseats. Getting a rear facing carseat into the backseats makes it a tight squeeze for people in the front, and the third row is even tighter. It's gotta be the seats, cause I'm only 5'5"....read morehide

I bought my Santa Fe in November 2007. Love it! Handles great, especially in snow with the ESC feature. I live in central New York (Utica) and that is a needed feature. My Fe has a smooth ride, quick pick up and I love the Shiftronic! The interior has a great look with the 2 tone dashboard. I also like the steering wheel contols for the sound system and cruise control. I have the Powder White Pearl and I get tons of complements on the appearance, very sharp SUV. This SUV has lots of cargo space, I have already hauled several pieces of furniture. The front and back seat are very roomy, enough room for my brother and father who are both over 6'2''.
My only con would be the fuel economy, I average city driving at 17 MPG, possibly 20 highway....read morehide

Window sticker estimates 19city/24highway MPG. I have yet to achieve either one with actual mileage being at least, if not more, 10% lower than advertised. I have taken 2 round trips of 800 miles and 600 miles respectively and the best, STRAIGHT highway mileage I achieved was 21.5 MPG. The odometer records 19.6 MPG overall but I have my doubts about that. I've had the vehicle checked at two servicings and was advised fuel trims are up to specifications. I purchased this vehicle knowing, rather, believing the fuel consumption to as advertised. BIG disappointment. You might question my driving habits to be the problem here, but, I must say to you that on my last 4 GM cars, I ALWAYS met or exceeded their window sticker's estimated MPG. Seems like Hyundai Santa Fe might be padding their estimated MPG, OR. the Service Dept is not going beyond fuel trims for another problem....read morehide

I purchased a 2007 Santa Fe, in September 2007. The Santa Fe ran perfect up until January 2008. I started the car one morning, and the engine light came on, so did the ESC light, the whole thing shook violently, and it reeked of gas. The dealership eventually fixed the problem (it took them almost 3 weeks to get the part needed). The only answer I got out of the dealership was that there was a faulty sensor, which is actually the gas pedal. On March 7, 2008 the same problem occured, and I am still waiting for my Santa Fe to be fixed. I was told today that many Santa Fe's have been affected with this problem, but there is no recall. They are only informing customers of the problem if they bringing it to the dealership.
Overall the look of a Santa Fe is great. I get tons of compliments on it, and it is comfortable for the most part. One comfort con I can think of is the headrest is extremely uncomfortable, especially if you're a woman that likes to wear her hair up. Strange, yes I know. Another problem that I've encountered with the Santa Fe is if you have a front wheel drive it doesn't handle well in snow. If you're going straight it's fine, but when going around corners the back end fishtails. I live in Upstate NY so this is a problem (even though the dealership thinks it wouldn't be)....read morehide

We did extensive research on all the vehicles in its class. The Santa Fe was the best priced and the best warrenty. We are a little worried about the fuel economy. We got 4000 miles and yet only getting 19mpg. Dealer said it will get better but we will see. We called the Hyundai Corp and complained about the dome light not coming on and they are sending a light kit to the dealer to install. Got that taken care of. We were sold on the warrenty and at the time it had the best financing available. After owning it for six months were very satified with it. Love the third row seating other than the lugage room when in use....read morehide

My wife and I were T-Boned in our 2005 Santa Fe by a pick up truck who ran a stop sign traveling @ 50 MPH, It hit dead center of the driver side and sent the Santa Fe air born off the road to the right 15 feet befor it landed up right across a ditch. We both walked away with only sore muscels from the impact. The Santa Fe was a total loss with over $11000.00 in damages. The only vehicle we considered for replacement was The 2007 Santa Fe, which we love!...read morehide

This is just an awesome car (even get comments from my teenager kids' friends). We love the flexibility of the third row split seat. The bumper to bumper warrantee is great. If I perceive any problems, I just drive it into the dealer for a check!! It is truly a wonderful car and I would recommend any one contemplating purchasing a SUV to look at this. THE PRICE IS RIGHT!! My friends who have the "more expensive" SUVs are really impressed with my Santa Fe. My sister was so impressed, she bought one the same day I picked mine up at the dealership....read morehide
