This is a sports car with 4 doors. It is incredibly fun to drive. The price is unbelieveably cheap for what you get. It is also assembled in Japan which generally means high quality engineering and assembly. The suspension is sport tuned so it does not ride smooth and quiet like an oldsmobile but grips the road really well. The engine is small but high performance so don't expect to get fantastic fuel economy. Expect mazda zoom zoom performance. This car is very roomy and has lots of smart functional features like the 60-40 fold down rear seat (most cars only have all up or all down). The trunk and glove box are huge and the back seat actually fits 2 adults with leg room to spare....read morehide

Dont wreck the car. If you get into any kinda of fender bender good look having the car fixed the way it was before. Next reliability ive had the car for 2 years and as soon as the 3 year 30k mileage warranty terminated the car started to make a choking loud noise and the engine light came on when it started. I took it to a "qualified" mazda dealership here and dallas with the puchase of the extended powertrain warranty and they told me that it was a temperature gauge that regulates some valve in the engine. Ok good enough reason so the car was in the shop for 3 days and they fixed the engine light and turned it off but the car still made the same sound. Note it was not covered in the extended warranty and cost almost 600 dollars to fix. So i took it back and found out that it was the variable valve timer. I asked how that could be with a car that is 2 years old with 40k miles and they said that it just happens. This car had a rattle since day 1 and since then has been nothing but a worthless mess. I would much rather be driving a friends kia spectra that is 1 year old with 30k miles and drives great than this piece. I will never buy another mazda vehicle again. Be aware!...read morehide

Overall an excellent car for the price. 5 speed model will surprise you with its quickness and handling. WAY better in that regard than my friends Honda Civic. Also extremely reliable. Have 50k in 2 years with not one problem. If you want a non headache, cheap, reliable, nice looking car get a Mazda 3 u wont be disappointed. I have also been surprised even now people ask me about it and say how nice they think it looks....read morehide

We have purchased a white, five door Mazda 3GS in June 2007. It runs well and accelaration is great, however in Oct 2008 while following my wife, I noticed from behind that the rear tires (Toyo) were worn out from inside which is quite unusual. I told Mazda in Montreal (Qc) but they said that the warranty on the tires are for a year only and that they should be aligned. I wouldn't mind doing the alignment if only it would be possible. The tire expert told me that they cannot do it because they are worn out too badly and they can only do it when all four tires are replaced with brand-new ones. Hence we wait till the original tires are bad enough to be replaced and have to bear with the noise caused by this cupping....read morehide

I got my mazda3 a year ago and have absolutely loved it since! Out of all the cars I have driven this has the best handling and acceleration. Sporty design on inside and out make it appealing to anyone. Since purchasing it have not once had a problem with it!!!

I've had this car for 6 months and overall I'm very pleased. It's a great value, the only drawbacks are some small deficiencies in quality and features, which you might expect in this price range.
It's great fun to drive, especially for a hatchback. I have plenty of headroom, (I'm 6'0") and the back seat is reasonable for my friends, especially when compared to Audi or other higher end sedans. It's very peppy in the low end, however it's not as gutsy in the higher gears, particularly when trying to pull out and pass on the freeway. Its handling is good, not great, but again, for the price, very nice indeed. It has great storage in the back - plenty of room for my hockey bag and gym bag, and the glove box is indeed immense, as others have noted.
The interior noise is probably my worst complaint. Not just road noise, but I have a sunroof and other various rattles. I don't know if I got a bad car or if it's sunroof related, but it's definitely noticeable and annoying. The audio system is lacking too. I have the Bose, the sound is fine and 6 disc changer works well, but there is no text recognition, no MP3 capabilities (I think that's an option), and the aux jack produces a weak signal (there is an optional iPod adapter). I am upgrading the stereo, but I'm the kind of guy to do that. If you just want the basics, it works fine.
My MPG is nothing special. I barely get the advertised 22, usually less, I have the 2.3L.
I do really like the styling, the heated leather seats, the dash layout, it has a great feel. Decent visibility, I like the auto-dimming mirror with the garage door opener. All in all, I feel like I got a lot of car for the price....read morehide

I purchased my 2007 Mazda3 in April 07, after totalling a 2003 Jetta (my dream car for LONG TIME)so I had high expectations for any car that thought it was going to replace my Jetta. I looked at Scions (nice but pricy), Civics (Small front end, car made to drop engine in a collision. didnt like that) Corolla (too small, dont like the style, preferred the Scion) Then I started looking at Mazda3s and I can honestly say I feel in love with the car as soon as I saw it. I, then test drove it, and loved it even more. It doesnt have fabulous pick-up, but who needs to go from 0-60 in 3 seconds.... if your looking for that... this is not the car for you. I didn't use my AC too much, I have a sun-roof and much prefer driving with that open than with the AC on. However when I did use it I never had a problem with it. The trunk size is decent. good enough for me. I do miss the auto trunk pop, that my jetta had. I got spoiled by that but thats something i can deal with. gas milage is good. everyone wants a car that gets 35 miles city and 40 highway... want that... get a Hybrid... my Mazda gets about 25-29 city and I took a trip to OCMD this summer and got 35-38 miles highway. so its not bad gas mileage at all. I work about 10 miles away so I fill my tank every other week. cant beat it. The only concern I had with the Mazda is the engine noise. However I did notice other Mazda3's are also noisy, so it doesnt bother me anymore. its not noisy enough to be annoying i just worried that something was wrong. I love my Mazda and would definately buy another one. and would recommend it to anyone!...read morehide

I love my car... It is a 2005 5-door with 31k miles and I have not had any problems with it! All I have to do is general maintance. As my kids are getting bigger, the back seat is a tad small. My 16 yr old son is 6ft tall but he can sit back there. I have the 5-spd manual and its fun to drive on curve roads and as far as ice and snow in Oklahoma, It does very well. The ride is fantastic but I am no expert, considering my other car is a 2002 Mustang! Talk about a stiff ride....read morehide

I can't say enough good things about my car!! I absolutely love it.
It doesn't have any fancy doo-dads that really stand out, but It does everything well and I love it! I also appreciate that the styling has not changed so my 4 year old car still looks brand new. A 4 y/o Toyota or Honda looks really dated now.
If you are getting one, the stripped down version is fine. All of the cars are wired the same and you can have competent mechanic add/connect fog lights/ cruise control buttons etc. at a fraction of the cost of the dealer....read morehide
