Sleek Stylish look, Roomy interior, comfortable seats, Handles like a dream

THIS IS DEFINITELY A ZOOM-ZOOM CAR! I BOUGHT MY '07 RX8 FOUR MONTHS AGO AND I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT! THE CAR HANDLES LIKE A DREAM!! NOT TO MENTION ALL OF THE LOOKS YOU GET WHILE DRIVING IT!!! THE CAR WILL DEFINITELY TURN HEADS WITH ITS SLEEK DESIGN! IT HAS THE WHITE EXTERIOR WITH THE LIGHT GREY AND BLACK INTERIOR! AWESOME CAR!! YES, THE GAS MILEAGE IS SOMEWHAT BAD, BUT HEY, IT'S A SPORTS CAR, WHAT DO YOU EXPECT. THE CAR IS A BEAUTY INSIDE AND OUT AND THE SOUND OF THE ROTARY ENGINE HUMMING SO SMOOTHLY JUST MAKES YOU WANT TO GO FAST EVERYWHERE YOU GO! Avoid driving in snow

I leased an 2004 Rx8 and loved it so much that I bought a 2007 model . This car is awesome in every way , and it handles like a dream . The ride is suprisingly smooth for the true sports car that it is . I live in Ohio near the Cleveland area , and we can get some pretty bad winter weather here , and driving this car over snow without snow tires is not fun . This is in my opinion is as perfect of a design as I have seen on anything on the road today . I bought this car in Malaysia for RM 280,000 which is about USD 80K when it first came out. Truthfully up to today I have spent over USD 30K to maintain and also do some uplifments. The car is totally useless to me now as it has multiple mechanical engine problems. The engine needs to be overhauled which will cost me about USD 10K to get it up and running again. The spareparts are ridiculously priced and there is not many people who can do it.
The fuel consumption is terrible. The brakes went off within a year and cost me USD 1K to change it. The car heats up like mad. The sound console is a one piece which comes together with the air cond system. So if one spoils the whole lot is gone. This cost about USD 2K to get.
Overall this car is totally not a car to purchase. Even after calling and numerous emails to Mazda Japan they have not emailed be back regarding some problems the car is facing. In total the car is a total loss once you buy it....read morehide

The car is fun to drive, it is not a racing car but have wonderful cornering and good power.

Low torque, rer visibility a problem, high gasoline consuption.

I have an automatic model. Good car of crusing in higways. I have hit the 136 mph fast and with a feeling of incredible security. Great in cornering. Great look. In the interior is beatiful and the four doors is a genial idea.

Just purchased my 07 grandtouring on 2-1-08. right off the showroom floor in velocity red with black interior. In my opinion, the six speed manual trans is the only way to go in this beauty. Don't care for the paddle shifting and all that...I really did my homework on this car prior to purchasing....Yeah yeah yeah...people complain about the poor gas mileage and the flooding and the lack of torque......
Hello...do a little research before making a 30k investment in a sports car. So you add some oil now and then and must let it warm up before shutting off.......If you want a safe reliable car and also a very boring one, then buy a camry or a honda like every other person on the road..This car is unique in every way as far as styling and handling.
Yes, this car does turn heads but thats not why I bought it. There are few on the road and Im so sick of seeing mustangs, chargers and 350 z's. They just don't appeal to me and I'm through with american cars anyway but thats another story. I had an earlier model year RX-8 which I gave up after less than two years. The engine was prone to flooding, interior vinyl and plastic bits did not stand the test of time, and fuel economy was worse than even V8 sports cars (and it required premium). Horrible gas mileage, rough ride, excessive oil consumption

The 2007 RX8 has been a total disappointment and has ended up being more expensive to operate than my Z71 Suburban and Z71 Silverado. I drive this car somewhat conservatively and can expect my mpg to be around 10 city 16 on the interstate (89 octane fuel). Purchased September '07 and I am about to trade for a Silverado, which is four wheel drive, safer, lower insurance, and much cheaper to operate. I absolutely HATE this car and will never make this mistake again. O and by the way I have 5500 miles to date and I'm starting to have electrical, transmission, and suspension problems. Please do not get tricked into buying this car. And its not my car I have interviewed many of my friends and classmates about their RX8's before writing this review....read morehide

This car is my dream car, and it is everything I have always dreamed about in a car. I fall in love with it every time I go to drive it. You simply can't beat the entire package that this car presents. Yes, you can find a car with more power, more comfort or better handling or better gas mileage or less oil consumption, or more features or lower price or higher price etc...

But what other car has the performance of a road course race car, with drop-dead stunning looked, that can get a whopping 183 hp per liter, that is outfitted with the latest safety security and convenience features with the interior of a luxury sedan, that can carry 4 adults and a trunk full of stuff, that is rated as a 4 door sedan by insurance, that no one else has in your city!

And that is just the surface, tangible benefits. Walk up to this car and stare at it, and if you listen you can hear it whispering to you, begging to be driven through windy roads, inviting you to be that one to let it stretch it's legs. Get into it and it hugs you, starts laughing in excitement as you start the engine before settling into a contented purr. Pull it out into the streets and you can feel it wanting to open up and experience the maximum G-forces it can handle. Start turning into a curve and it talks to you, letting you know what it feels, how much further it can go. Settle back down to a long cruise and it curls up around you like a favorite lap dog, content to keep you comfortable, but ever watching for when it can jump up and play.

There is no car like this car. Please don't buy it if you don't understand what the experience of driving it means. Don't buy it for looks or a daily driver, or you might ruin the engine. Do your research, ask as many questions as you can. Learn how this engine is different, and what that means to your maintence and care of it, since you don't take care of it the way you do piston engines. Rev this baby, take it to it's limits as often as you can, and it will reward you for it, like no other car can....read morehide

Have had no problems with it yet.Check oil every other gas fill.Have lessened travel time by half.Blowing by your ordinary/everyday type car usually necc. most days,either
out of neccesity or just for the fun of it.By pumping gas pedal (auto)initial slow thrust problem stated by some is
solved.Once up cruising speed of 70,80 mph.,a quick spike
to 110 very easy w/this fantastic sports car.Handles turns
at twice the speed of most cars w/ease & negligable body
movement.Have actually been airborne for a split sec!Race
car looks,attitude,handling yet priced much lower than any
competitor and has 4 seats!The most common comments
I've received are "what is it?" & "I want that".Debated the
others in its class yet have any back seats,which give plenty of room for avg. person.Any complaints concerning
roominess,gas guzzling,shift/trans. problems,lack of torque
IMO are the result of ignorance,lack of common sence.The
Bose stereo system,whirr of the rotary engine,tightest
handling car,ease of operation/steering are icing on the cake of a totally unique car.The RX-8 is one of those you
instantly fall for and have to own.Once you do,you'll know
what I'm talking about.Please,no old lady's apply.Used 04's

Hard to get in and out (I'm 6 feet tall)

During my wife's first drive of this car she said, "This is scary. Why does it go so fast?" She drives 07 Mercedes C230, and I guess she had a hard time containing RX-8's pick-up. It took her by surprise that it started out tame but took off like a rocket once it passed 4000 RPM.

Once it gets going, it really, really picks up fast. The engine just loves to rev. But what's more impressive is its comfort and control while going fast or making turns.

The only down side to owning this vehicle that I can see is that:
1. I had the highway patrol car following me, even though I was not speeding. It seems that the patrols enticipate that you will eventually lose control and push on the throttle.
2. I am getting close to 40. I have not desire to race, kids! It just seems like everyone wants to challenge you to a race. I even had a kid with fixed up pick-up truck challenging me to a race! C'mon.

Well, anyway, I just love everything about this car....read morehide
