Upon introduction, the SLK280 Roadster is equipped with a standard 3.0-liter, V6, 228-horsepower engine that achieves 20-mpg in the city and 27-mpg on the highway. A 6-speed manual transmission with overdrive is standard, and a 7-speed automatic transmission with overdrive is optional. The SLK55 AMG Roadster is equipped with a standard 5.5-liter, V8, 355-horsepower engine that achieves 16-mpg in the city and 22-mpg on the highway. A 7-speed automatic transmission with overdrive is standard.
