I have had my '07Senctra since 11/06 and just had my transmission replaced for the second time...thats 3 transmissions in 3 years! When I asked the service department why this was happening, I got the good/bad news....they are extending the warranty of the transmission to 10 yrs/120K...so luckily I will not have to pay for one ever, but scary to think they do not know how to fix the engineering flaws in the CVT and are putting in re-manufactured ones, across the board, not knowing if these will last either!! I would wait a few years and give them some time to figure it out before buying. They said a bulletin will be going out shortly to notify owners....read morehide

Pros:
I use synthetic oil (Amsoil) and use dual filter system. I was pleasantly suprised when I went from White Plains NY to Upstate NY keeping the car at 55 mph. Cars were passing me all the time but I eaked out over 40 mpg!
Love the Blue Tooth (great safety feature).
Like the idea of 5 star crash rating system
Sound system is pretty good with the speaker system
Cons: 2 Recalls, 1 Information Notice, 3 Unreported Problems (defect in rear tire alignment, dash seal and computer requiring reprogramming)
1) Master Cylinder Leaks due to subcontractor (Magna) not correctly manufacturing the surface face of where the master cylinder meets its base= leakage and potential for breaking system failure. I had no manufacturer recall on this mailed to me. I found this out on the NIssan Forums.
2) Side airbags not properly installed = Potential personal injury from defective component installation
3) Information notice on fuses - template not correct for some models of the Sentra
4) Had the front dash foam seal ooze out from underneath the dash (where the dash meets the windshield) - took 3 days to repair; luckily it was covered under warranty (bought the extended warranty). NOTE: There is no Information Notice on this issue.
5) Rear wheels cannot be brought into alignment (Toe out of spec) causing premature wearing of tires/replacement (yes I do rotate my tires religiously believe it or not). This is a known problem that Nissan refuses to acknowledge. I discovered this reviewing the Nissan Sentra Forums which is a great place to get this kind of information. I currently have a call into the district manager with resolution due today.
6) Received an error code/check engine light on coolant temperatures when the temperature dipped in the winter. This is a known programing problem. The Nissan Dealership had to reprogram my computer. NOTE: there is no Information Notice on this issue.
I would highly recommend reporting any defects (especially safety ones to the governments Highway Safety website). This is the only way that serious and/or expensive issues get resolved = by people speaking up and by bad publicity.
3 Stars Overall due to Safety and Reliability/Service which I consider the most important factors in any car since it is a very large investment and should be treated as such....read morehide

I will never buy another Nissan ever, the first year I had to get my rotors replaced, the second year I had two major recalls for air bags, and master brake cylinder. Never again will I spend money on Nissan.

The Pro's far outweight the Con's of this vehicle. Overall excellent car, tremendous value.
Super quiet, tight handling, efficient engine, very roomy interior & trunkspace. The car is very lightweight, which becomes apparent when driving with four full-grown adults in the car (you basically have to "gear-down", using lower gears to get the car up to speed). So although there's not a lot of horsepower with the engine, it will get you around town or across the country nicely. We weighed it down with Christmas gifts and drove from Connecticut to St. Louis, averaging about 28 mpg.
This is actually my girlfriend's car... i wanted her to get a Civic, but i've been pleasantly surprised by the Sentra. She's been in a collision with the vehicle too (hit a guardrail head-on during a snowstorm; completely damaged the front 1/4 of the vehicle. Car was fully repaired and seems like it had never even went through the accident; frame was totally OK). The heater works GREAT in this car too. We live in Connecticut and hate the cold, this car gets really warm in a hurry.
Cons.. it's so quiet i don't even know the engine in on (during the test-drive the dealer didn't know either and cranked the ignition while the engine was running). Mirrors are difficult to adjust, and rearview is limited significantly. I have to turn around while driving to see what's behind me when i change lanes on the highway. The clutch is so touchy too, makes some tight-manuevering situations (parallel parking) occasionally difficult. 6 speeds...really?...read morehide

I have to take my car three times so far to dealer to fix same problem about my steering wheel which makes noise when turning full right or left. Dealer is confused too can't figure out what is wrong change sway bar, mount struts, wheel bearings, etc now my wheel bearing is making noise, Just feel myself unlucky to get this car as nissan always got the good image for fancy cars price wise...read morehide

I have the 2.0 model with the value option package, no bells and whistles but it has a nice smooth ride and it's great for short people (like me!). I test drove at least a dozen cars from various manufacturers before buying this one. I can actually see the front of my car!! It's small enough that maneuvering in the city isn't a problem. Also, if you like to shift, the 6-speed manual transmission is for you. But... it can get tiring. I don't get anywhere close to the posted gas mileage. To avoid wasting so much gas, I have to drive it slow, not gun the gas, and drive it in fifth at 60 km/h, sad sad sad. Maybe the CVT transmission gets better fuel economy, I don't know...
Overall, I love this car, it comes in great colours and I haven't had any major issues with it.
I would definitely recommend this car to anyone I know, but I would first warn them about the falsely posted gas mileage.
ALSO, if you do get this car, get the paint protection on it, I did and salt doesn't stick to my car in the winter like it would on my old car, only requires half the car washes....read morehide

I hope this car is better than the 2006. Hertz gave me a 2006 because my car is in the shop and it is awful. Hopefully Nissan figured this out and made the 2007 better. It looks better, but what about inside and the mechanics of it?

I'm pretty pleased with this car. Didn't want the Civic,. I recently got into an accient and slammed into another car going about 40, and I and my passenger walked away without a scratch. Extensive damage to my car, but only cosmetic, thougth it was totalled, but no. It's one of the safest cars out there, in it's class, and driving in Los Angeles, safety is extremely important. I would recommend the Sentra anytime. I do wish I knew more, and would have purchased the 2.0S, but hey it's my first car, low car payment, slylish and cute. I'm pleased!...read morehide

Good car for the money. I drove a Chevy Malibu before I bought this car...boy did this rig blow the Chevy away, unless your into road noise, and a higher price tag with the Chevy. CVT tranny is pimp.
Like I wrote in my review. The field of view from the rear is not good. And the mirrors don't fold, which means when your wife parks to close to another car, or you roll up to your mailbox...it will snap off and break....read morehide
